Responsibilities may include

• To complete research tasks in line with timelines and agreed deadlines

• To help plan, write, edit and proofread reports, literature reviews and related writings

• To work alongside others in managing a workload, and actively communication 

• To analyse and interpret research data (mainly qualitative, secondary data analysis)

• To support and be accountable to the senior researcher 

• To assist in the design and planning of projects and research work

• To follow ethical guidelines

Requirements: 

• To have knowledge on children’s human rights in the UK and other related areas

• To have experience as a Research Assistant or Researcher or equivalent role in related areas

• Experience in qualitative research methods and secondary data analysis, quantitative experience a plus

• To be able to work well as part of a team and independently

Why we want you

As branch chair you and your branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

What you will be doing

· Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising activities so that potential beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters are aware of SSAFA as first in mind for support.

· Building relationships with the regional and national SSAFA team, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA serving community teams, local military establishments, etc.

· Attending events as a key SSAFA representative.

· Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office

· Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.

· Working with other volunteers, regional and national team members to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.

· Work closely with the community engagement co-ordinator to recruit, welcome, induct, support, and manage volunteers in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.

A bit about this role

At Cats Protection we passionately believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership, and without neutering the UK’s cat population would quickly get out of control. Our neutering volunteers help spread positive neutering messages and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered. They help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promote our neutering schemes and respond to enquiries from members of the public.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Promoting the benefits of neutering and our neutering schemes
• Responding to enquiries about neutering
• Completing relevant neutering paperwork and distributing neutering vouchers
• Following up with cat owners to make sure that vouchers are used
• Ensuring all cats and kittens are neutered in line with Cats Protection policies and procedures

Time expectation

Our neutering volunteers usually spend between two to four hours a week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

Are you a fluent Sylheti speaker with a passion for helping others? We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist women in improving their English language skills. Improving someone’s understanding and spoken English language, will allow individuals to communicate and connect with people in their local community, widen their network of friendships and relationships, and provide people opportunity to improve their employability skills. We are looking for a face-to-face volunteer for a minimum of 1 hour per week who is available between hours 11am – 2.30pm Monday-Friday!

What you will be doing

• To support individuals who are not confident with spoken English to develop their reading, writing and conversational skills through one-to-one sessions.
• Agree a mutual agreeable time and frequency that works for both parties
• Engage in conversation, allowing the person to feel supported and comfortable to practice speaking English Preparing and delivering sessions independently including setting work and assessing
• To keep records of conversations and update the support worker on progress of sessions.
• Support with preparing for the “Live in the UK Citizenship Test”

Childline Volunteer Counsellor- Someone who wants to make a difference to children’s lives by being there to listen when they feel they have no one else to turn to. As a Childline counsellor, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, abuse, self-harm or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.

What you’ll do

You’ll volunteer in our Leeds Childline base, offering counselling support to children and young people over the phone or through our 1-2-1 online chat. Your supervisor will help you develop and evaluate your counselling skills. After your initial training, you will be able to help young people as well as identify when a child or young person may be at risk, but don’t worry a supervisor will be on hand to give you plenty of support.

What you’ll get

You’ll receive training sessions over 12 weeks to prepare you for the role. When you start your regular shifts, a supervisor will be around all times to support you. Every shift includes a briefing and debriefing alongside other volunteers. Supervisors will also give you regular one-to-one support and group supervisions.

What we’ll need from you

Signing up to be a Childline counsellor is a big commitment and requires lots of training so, we do ask people to stay in the role for a minimum of one year.

We’ll also need to do some routine safeguarding checks, including an enhanced criminal record check and at least two satisfactory references with at least one covering a period of five years or more with no gaps. It’s nothing to worry about, and we can answer any questions you have about this.

We have a team at RNIB working on this, and we’d love you to join us. To succeed, we need a diverse group of volunteers, who reflect the people we’re trying to reach. You will also work alongside our panel of blind and partially sighted community members.

In this role, you will:
· Share ideas on the best ways to encourage behaviour change.
· Help make sure our messaging connects with the public.
· Co-design and co-produce materials that support behaviour change and maximise the panel’s impact.
· Review content, giving feedback and suggestions.
· Support the production of other resources as needed.

An understanding of sight loss is not required before taking on the role.

Description

You'll be raising awareness, & improving understanding of sight loss through delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions in your local community. Through these engaging sessions, you'll inspire participants to make small changes to their behaviour that make a massive difference in the day-to-day lives of people with sight loss. As a Community Change Champion, this will involve:

• Talking directly with community leaders, businesses, & local groups about ways they can get involved & inviting them to join an Awareness to Action session.
• Delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions either in person or online, using our resources. You may do this on your own or with a team of other local volunteers, both sighted and with sight loss.
• Sharing RNIB’s information & initiatives so people know we’re here for them.
• If you have a personal link to sight loss, sharing your experience during the session to help give a tangible example of how local people can make a real difference.
• Telling us about any activities you have engaged in via a Microsoft form.

Taking part in art-based activities increases our resilience and engages us in the here and now. You will be supporting people to express their emotions, provide a time for people to relax and feel proud of their final art products!

But this comes at a cost - we are seeking a volunteer Fundraising & Grants Assistant to help us in our ambitious expansion plans, to roll out our programs nation-wide.

• Research grant funding opportunities suitable for a grassroots organisation
• Draft and submit grant applications to trusts, foundations, and statutory funders
• Maintain a simple funding pipeline and track deadlines
• Work with staff and volunteers to gather service data, outcomes, and case studies

Bristol Avon Rivers Trust is a growing charity supported by a skilled team and a large group of volunteers. Our board of six trustees provide strategic oversight, ensure good governance, and are accountable to the Charity Commission for delivering our charitable purpose. With our turnover and impact increasing, we are seeking a new Trustee (Treasurer) to strengthen our financial leadership.

About the Role:

The Treasurer works closely with the CEO and Finance Officer to ensure strong financial governance and effective management of financial risk. You will provide clear financial insight to the board, help shape strategic decisions, and oversee statutory reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the charity maintains proper accounts and robust financial controls
• Oversee and present budgets, management accounts, annual accounts and financial statements
• Highlight key financial points at the AGM and board meetings
• Review financial performance and support long-term planning
• Lead on finance, reserves and investment policies
• Liaise with the CEO, finance staff, and external auditors/independent examiners
• Oversee statutory submissions to Companies House, the Charity Commission and HMRC

Trustees attend four online board meetings per year plus the AGM, with some additional time needed to review papers.

Lead Bradford Hospitals Charity at a Transformative Moment

Bradford Hospitals Charity is on the brink of an extraordinary transformation. As we prepare to become a fully independent charity, we are seeking a bold, visionary, and inspiring Chair of Trustees to lead our Board and help shape the next chapter in our history.

Currently, the charity is governed through an NHS Corporate Trustee model, with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) acting as Corporate Trustee. While this arrangement has provided strong foundations and close alignment with the Trust, the move to independence represents a significant step forward in the charity’s maturity and ambition.

Becoming independent will enable Bradford Hospitals Charity to operate with greater agility, open up additional routes to funding, strengthen external partnerships, and further develop its own identity and governance- while continuing to work in close collaboration with BTHFT to support patients, staff, and communities.

As part of this journey, the incoming Chair will play a pivotal role in leading the charity through its transition to independence. This will include chairing a Shadow Board during the transition period, overseeing the establishment of independent governance arrangements, and leading the recruitment of a diverse, skilled, and high-performing Trustee Board to take the charity forward once independence is achieved.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make a tangible difference to healthcare in Bradford and the surrounding communities.
