Transitions supports adults who may be feeling isolated, overwhelmed or going through periods of change. We work alongside people to build confidence, develop skills, and support independent living through a mix of workshops, coaching and community connection.

What you’ll be doing

As a Volunteer Wellbeing Coach, you’ll:

• Meet your client (initially with a staff member) to build trust and agree goals
• Provide weekly 1-hour coaching sessions (up to 6 months)
• Support clients to set goals, create action plans and review progress
• Help people use workshop tools and self-help resources in everyday life
• Encourage confidence-building and independent decision-making
• Support access to local services, groups, clubs and community activities
• Signpost to specialist support and accompany clients to first appointments if needed
• Help reduce isolation by supporting social connection and community engagement
• Encourage participation in Transitions workshops and group sessions

Read Easy provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, through a network of volunteer groups. Read Easy groups are changing the lives of individual adults across the country by providing them with the support they need to learn to read, and in turn opening doors for them to all sorts of new opportunities in life. Outline of the IT Supporter role
It is amazing how much difference you could make to your local group by providing IT support, either remotely or in person. Even the smallest things like setting up email accounts, using video calling software and creating social media accounts can be a real challenge for some volunteers, so your expertise will make the world of difference to supporting your local group to help adults learn to read in your community.

The skills you will need
● Knowledge and previous experience of fundraising is desirable, though not essential.
● A willingness to seek out potential sources of funding.
● Experience of writing funding bids is desirable, though not essential.
● Good negotiating and influencing skills.
● The ability to use initiative and work independently.
● A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures.
● An open attitude that encourages two-way communication and willingness to ask for and offer support to the Team.

We are looking for football coach volunteers to help lead and deliver our weekly football sessions to support residents to rebuild body and mind.

Session is currently being run in a park a 5 minute walk from Ditchmore Lane, Stevenage 

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays 4 to 5pm

Project Resilience provides easily accessible opportunities for our hostel residents to take part in a variety of social and sporting activities to boost overall health and wellbeing.

We are looking for football coach volunteers to help lead and deliver our weekly football sessions to support residents to rebuild body and mind. 

Your responsibilities will include:

· Plan, prepare and deliver engaging weekly football sessions

· Helping with set up/tidying of any equipment 

· Managing and maintaining focus of residents to support their fitness progress and development

· Working closely with Project Resilience Coordinator, maintaining open lines of communication and feedback 

· Assist with any related events such as organising tournaments or community football events

You will need:

· Previous experience in coaching/running football sessions 

· Being able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative

· Being empathetic and understanding to the needs of vulnerable residents who may have differing fitness skills and levels 

· Some sort of formal sports training - doesn’t have to be specifically for football but we would like to see some level of education e.g. Level 2 gym instructor plus

· A full induction to the role and site will be provided

· You will be required to undertake mandatory e-learning and a menu of optional training will be made available 

· Ongoing supervision and support from your line manager

· Access to organisational events and celebrations throughout the year

You will support people to relight a spark to continue a hobby, interest or encourage them to explore and participate in new social activities.

Loneliness and isolation can affect anyone in life, whatever their age or family situation. Official data from the Office for National Statistics shows that rates of depression doubled during the COVID pandemic, and one of the major causes of depression is isolation.

Are you a fluent Farsi speaker with a passion for helping others? We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist women in improving their English language skills. Improving someone’s understanding and spoken English language, will allow individuals to communicate and connect with people in their local community, widen their network of friendships and relationships, and provide people opportunity to improve their employability skills. 

We are looking for a face-to-face volunteer for a minimum of 1 hour per week who is available between hours 11am – 2.30pm Monday-Friday!

What you will be doing

• To support individuals who are not confident with spoken English to develop their reading, writing and conversational skills through one-to-one sessions.
• Agree a mutual agreeable time and frequency that works for both parties
• Engage in conversation, allowing the person to feel supported and comfortable to practice speaking English Preparing and delivering sessions independently including setting work and assessing
• To keep records of conversations and update the support worker on progress of sessions.

What difference will you make?

We're setting up a new telephone group which will offer blind and partially sighted people living with DREC the opportunity to socialise with one another each week and we're looking for someone to facilitate the group. The right person will have have personal or professional experience of DREC, will be a good listener who is able to manage group conversations and will have the skills to enable people to feel comfortable in a social group environment.

This is a telephone-based role that you can do from home. You will need access to a landline and/or mobile phone. We ask you to commit to 1-2 hours per week to facilitate one group session, which will take place at the same day and time each week.

You will be the link between the group participants and the RNIB Talk and Support team and will:

• Listen to the group conversation and ensure it flows and that all conversations are appropriate;
• Make appropriate contributions as and when required to stimulate conversation;
• Create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere thus encouraging all participants to feel comfortable taking part;
• Report any Safeguarding concerns or data breaches to the Talk & Support staff team.
