To guide Hackney CVS through a new chapter, we are looking to strengthen our Board with individuals who bring professional and lived experience.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for our next Treasurer, and trustees to join our Finance, Audit and Risk Sub-Committee, with experience in strategic financial management, liaising with external investment managers and an understanding of investment policies and practice. Expertise in charity finance including understanding of Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) is also preferable.
Additionally, we are looking for individuals with expertise in change management, people and culture, ideally with experience in purpose-driven organisations.
We're keen to hear from both experienced trustees, and those without previous trustee experience interested in the opportunity to learn and develop.
We strongly encourage applications from local residents, and individuals with lived experience of the specific challenges and opportunities in Hackney and the City of London, and those representing the diverse communities we serve.
Key accountabilities
All trustees are accountable to the Co-Chairs of the Board.
Their role is to:
• Ensure that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy
• Ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
• Ensure that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuit of its charitable objects
• Ensure that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets • Safeguard the good name and values of the organisation
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
• Ensure the financial stability of the organisation
• Protect and manage the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds
• Follow proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the Chief Executive
In addition, trustees may take on specific responsibilities through our sub-committees or task and finish groups. Trustees may also lead for the board on significant projects or pieces of work to provide oversight and challenge.

Governance and the role of the Board
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the charity’s strategy, governance and financial health. Trustees safeguard the charity’s assets, ensure compliance with law and regulation, and work with the Chief Executive to ensure the charity is running effectively. Trustees support, challenge and advise the Senior Leadership Team in a spirit of partnership. The Chair leads the Board and ensures it functions well.
Trustees are also directors of the charitable company. We provide trustee indemnity insurance.
The role of Chair
Purpose
The Chair leads the Board of Trustees to ensure effective governance, a positive culture and a shared focus on impact. The Chair works closely with the Chief Executive to ensure the organisation delivers its strategy and remains well run.
Strategic focus for the next 12 to 24 months

Oversight of our three-year National Lottery funding programme, including delivery assurance and risk management.

Support for regional expansion so that services reach communities across Leicestershire and Rutland in a measured and sustainable way.

Core responsibilities

Provide leadership to the Board and ensure trustees discharge their duties effectively and in line with the Charity Governance Code.

Set Board agendas with the Chief Executive, plan and chair effective meetings, and ensure clear decisions, minutes and action tracking.

Relationship with the Chief Executive
The Chief Executive is accountable to the Board. The Chair undertakes regular supportive one-to-ones with the Chief Executive and leads their annual appraisal. The Chair works with the Chief Executive to set clear priorities, manage risk and unlock barriers to delivery.
Time commitment and meeting pattern

Estimated at a maximum of two to three days per month. This includes preparation, meetings and ambassadorial duties.

Conflicts of interest must be declared at appointment and kept up to date. A whistleblowing route is in place.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and community initiatives, both in-person and virtual.
- Develop event concepts and strategies aligned with the C.I.C’s mission, fundraising goals, and target audiences.
- Manage all event logistics, including venues, suppliers, volunteers, schedules, and budgets.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising Director to ensure events support broader fundraising strategies and income targets.
- Work with Content and Donor Communication Specialists to create promotional materials, event invitations, and campaign messaging.

The purpose of the role is to design and facilitate gardening activities at our community allotment with refugees and people seeking asylum, alongside our other gardening volunteers.

Through these sessions we maintain our beautiful community garden, grow and harvest vegetable/fruit crops and create wildlife and social areas. We always try to make sure there are a range of activities to choose from to fit with a range of energy/ability levels. All new ideas for activities to do at the garden are welcome!
Our sessions are on Tuesday mornings and afternoons and Friday mornings
Gardening expertise is not necessary for this role, although it is always very welcome.

Team up with fellow volunteers in our North Northumberland and Scottish Borders Fundraising Group to help plan and deliver exciting local events that help raise vital funds for amazing assistance dogs. About the opportunity
This role involves being an active member of the North Northumberland and Scottish Borders Fundraising Group, working alongside fellow volunteers to arrange fundraising events in the local community. You would attend regular group meetings in Milfield to discuss upcoming activities and ensure plans are in place for events throughout the year.

WHO IS MOSAIC CLUBHOUSE?
Mosaic Clubhouse is a unique, internationally renowned, mental health recovery community provider. We are right in the heart of Lambeth and wider south-east London, supporting the mental health system. We help over 400 Lambeth residents living with poor mental health each year through our work.
Mosaic people are not defined by their diagnosis but by their potential. They are our members, working side by side with staff to run every part of the Clubhouse. From reception to communications, café operations to fundraising, our model builds a sense of belonging.

Volunteer Board Member (Director)
ArtClusiv is seeking an experienced and committed board member to help guide our mission and shape our long term impact. This role is ideal for someone with leadership experience in the arts, community development, creative industries, nonprofit governance, or cultural equity work.
Role Overview
As a board member, you will provide strategic oversight and help ensure that ArtClusiv continues to grow in a focused, values driven direction. Your guidance will support our goals of increasing visibility, strengthening partnerships, and securing funding to expand our programmes and opportunities for BIPOC creatives.
You will work closely with the founder and fellow directors to advise on organisational development, sustainability, grant applications, stakeholder engagement, and ethical governance.
Key Responsibilities
• Offer strategic advice to help shape the long term direction of ArtClusiv
• Support funding strategy and help identify grant opportunities and partnership prospects
• Provide oversight on governance, risk management, and community accountability
• Champion the mission and act as an ambassador for ArtClusiv in your networks
• Attend quarterly board meetings and contribute actively to decision making
• Share expertise that strengthens our impact in visibility, outreach, and equity
• Support the founder in navigating nonprofit challenges and building organisational resilience
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience in a board, director, or governance role (nonprofit or creative sector preferred)
• Knowledge of arts, culture, community development, or social impact
• Strong understanding of BIPOC representation in the arts and the systemic challenges creatives face
• Strategic thinking, leadership ability, and a collaborative approach
• Commitment to anti discrimination, fairness, and inclusive creative spaces
