Plateful Cafe is a recently established charity that seeks to help refugees in the surrounding area into employment within the food and hospitality sector. We are opening a community cafe selling delicious Middle Eastern food such as hummus, falafels, salads, okra stew and much more! Our cafe will be staffed by people with refugee status and experiences of forced migration who are being trained to work in the food industry, as well as dedicated volunteers like you. The Volunteer Team Leader / Deputy Team Leader leads the local volunteer team by motivating and supporting members to deliver agreed objectives. The role provides strategic direction, management, and guidance while ensuring a positive, inclusive, and effective team environment. 

What will you be doing?

To lead, motivate and support the local volunteer team in developing, delivering and monitoring a yearly local strategy that aligns with Crimestoppers's vision, mission and organisational priorities.

What difference will you make?

As Volunteer Team Leader / Deputy Team Leader, you will play a key role in empowering people to create safer communities. 

You will lead the local volunteer team, setting direction and ensuring activity aligns with Crimestoppers’ mission that people are the ones who stop crime. 

You will working closely with the Police, Community Safety Partnerships, and local organisations, and help deliver campaigns and events that improve community safety. 

Through regular communication with regional and national staff, you will ensure your volunteers stay informed, connected, and supported.

You also help to recruit, support, and develop volunteers, creating an inclusive and motivated local team. 

Volunteer Team Leader / Deputy Team Leader applicants must live in the local area where you are applying.

This role requires a commitment of around three years to support continuity and effective delivery. Monthly time commitments vary and may include:

“Queer Space” is a support group is for adults who identify as LGBTQ+ and who have experience of mental health challenges. It is a peer-led space with a focus on empowerment, community, expression and joy. Above all, the space is led by the community it serves.

We are seeking a Volunteer Group Facilitator is to provide peer support and facilitate a group with the guidance of a coordinator, whilst creating a welcoming environment and sharing their own knowledge/experience of living with mental health difficulties. The role will also entail the planning of groups and assisting with other peer support administrative duties.

We will be running two groups, daytime and evening; you are welcome to apply for both or just one.

The group offers:

• A safe space to talk openly and honestly about mental health, Queerness and identity
• Peer support from people who have walked a similar path
• Real talk: honest discussions led by peer group facilitators who have been there

How will I be ending homelessness?

As a Health & Wellbeing Support Volunteer, you will use your professional skills and experience to support Crisis members in accessing healthcare and overcoming some of the barriers that people experiencing homelessness can face when engaging with health services.  

You will also play a key role in supporting the delivery of health and wellbeing services at Skylight. By helping to organise activities, workshops and health-related events, maintaining accurate records, and building positive relationships with local healthcare providers and partner organisations, you will contribute to improving members' access to healthcare and opportunities that support their overall wellbeing. 

The role is varied and rewarding, combining administration, research, communication and event coordination. You may support the team by contacting healthcare organisations, gathering information about local services, assisting with referrals, helping to organise and facilitate health and wellbeing events, and ensuring staff and members have the information and resources they need to achieve positive outcomes and move towards ending homelessness. 

What will I be doing?

Tasks might include: 

• Assisting with the administration and coordination of health and wellbeing activities and events.  
• Contacting healthcare organisations, community partners and service providers to gather information and support member access to services.  
• Helping to coordinate appointments, workshops, health promotion sessions and wellbeing events.  
• Maintaining accurate records and updating internal databases and spreadsheets.  
• Supporting the promotion of health and wellbeing activities to members.  
• Preparing resources, information packs and promotional materials.  
• Monitoring attendance and gathering feedback from activities and events.  
• Supporting the planning and delivery of Wellbeing days and community events.  
• Researching local healthcare services, wellbeing initiatives and community resources.  
• Providing general administrative support to the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator.  
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with healthcare providers and community organisations.  
• Supporting the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator to identify new health and wellbeing opportunities for members.
