We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Weekend Opportunity!
We’re looking for people to join our weekend teams and we can offer flexibility. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week -this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.
Volunteering in the shop
Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.
Our Richmond Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.
It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

What happens next?
After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

As the Administrative Volunteer with CARE International UK’s Supporter Care Team, you'll build hands-on skills in fulfilment processes and related tasks, all the while contributing to a global humanitarian cause. About the role
The Administrative Volunteer will play an integral role in supporting the execution of campaigns and appeals run by both the Mass Marketing Team and the Lendwithcare Team. This position operates within the Supporter Care Team under the supervision of one of our Supporter Care Officers. Additional administrative activities may also be assigned as required.
We anticipate that you will volunteer one day a week at our London Office in Farringdon, preferably Wednesdays. For volunteers residing within the Greater London area, reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. A member of the Supporter Care team will usually be in every Wednesday, hence the usual day being a Wednedsay.

Key responsibilities: Shop volunteer
You’ll spend time doing a range of activities, including:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service, helping create a wonderful shopping experience.
- Receiving donated items from the public, thanking them for their support.
- Sorting, steaming and preparing donations for sale.
- Helping to display stock in eye-catching and exciting ways.
- Keeping the shop floor clean, safe and tidy.
- Talking to customers about Sense and the work we do.
Key responsibilities: Till volunteer
Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:
- Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
- Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
- Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

Key responsibilities: Key volunteer

- Supporting the shop manager to make sure customers have a great experience.

The Role
AMI is seeking a Lay Trustee to join its modern, forward-thinking Board.
The Board meets at least three times per year via Teams, with scheduling accommodating trustees globally. One annual face-to-face meeting is held in the UK.
Trustees play a vital role in guiding and strengthening AMI. They provide support and advice on the organisation’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities, while overseeing high-level strategies, policies, and financial plans. Trustees help identify and manage key risks, review financial statements, and support the Chief Executive in delivering AMI’s mission. They contribute their expertise and networks to promote AMI’s reputation, actively engage in committees or advisory groups, and champion membership growth. Acting independently, legally, and in good faith, Trustees prioritise AMI’s interests and stay informed about its operating environment.

Key responsibilities: Shop volunteer
You’ll spend time doing a range of activities, including:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service, helping create a wonderful shopping experience.
- Receiving donated items from the public, thanking them for their support.
- Sorting, steaming and preparing donations for sale.
- Helping to display stock in eye-catching and exciting ways.
- Keeping the shop floor clean, safe and tidy.
- Talking to customers about Sense and the work we do.
Key responsibilities: Till volunteer
Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:
- Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
- Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
- Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

Key responsibilities: Key volunteer

The Safeguarding Trustee provides strategic leadership and assurance on all aspects of safeguarding across GFS. They ensure that the Board of Trustees fulfils its collective duty to protect all children, young people, and adults at risk who come into contact with GFS’s activities. Working closely with the Chair, CEO, and Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL), this trustee champions a proactive safeguarding culture built on trust, transparency, and accountability. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the values and mission of GFS are upheld in all of the decisions and decision-making processes of the Board.
- Contributing actively to the Board’s discussions on the strategic plans for GFS and supporting the Leadership Team to implement them.
- Lead the Board’s responsibility for safeguarding and ensure statutory and regulatory obligations are met.
- Review, approve, and monitor safeguarding policies, ensuring they are updated regularly and effectively implemented.
- Provide assurance that safeguarding risks are identified, managed, and escalated appropriately.
- Offer informed scrutiny and constructive challenge to ensure safeguarding remains a strategic priority.
- Receive regular updates from the DSL and senior leadership, and report key issues and learning to the Board.
- Promote awareness, understanding, and accountability for safeguarding across the organisation, including among volunteers and trustees.
- Keep up to date with safeguarding developments, legislation, and best practice in the charity and youth sectors.
- Act as a visible ambassador for safeguarding, attending relevant committees, events, or training sessions as required.
Time Committment
- Board Members serve an initial three-year term and are eligible for reappointment for an additional term.
- Three Virtual Board meetings and an in person in either in Central London or a central city (meetings are currently held on Saturdays).
- Occasional strategy days, workshops or working groups. Quarterly Sub - Committee membership depending on skills and capacity.
- Regular liaison with the Chair and DSL (typically 3–4 times per year).

- Learning more about Ickworth, so you can share your knowledge and stories of the family and their collections with visitors.

What's involved?
Supporting, encouraging, and facilitating the creation of new outdoor experiences such as cycling, walking and running.

Purpose of Role
Many of the mums we support cannot collect essential items themselves due to financial hardship, mobility issues, mental health challenges, or caring responsibilities. Volunteer Delivery Drivers help ensure essential donated items reach mums supported by MumsAid safely, respectfully, and with dignity. This role involves collecting goods from Mammakind Charity and delivering them directly to families, many of whom are experiencing hardship, isolation, or vulnerability. Due to the nature of this role, you will be in direct contact with vulnerable mums and their families, so a strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries is essential.
