Why we want you

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

Below are some examples of possible activities you can take on or be a part of as a SSAFA Community Engagement Volunteer.

What you will be doing

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.

• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

The skills you need

• Be friendly and approachable.
• Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.
• Basic IT skills would be an advantage.

Help4Homeless is looking for an Event Organisation Volunteer to help support creative fundraising events that directly benefit people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough. This is a flexible, remote volunteer role where your ideas and enthusiasm can help make a real difference.

About Help4Homeless

Help4Homeless is a youth-led initiative founded in Peterborough with a simple mission: provide practical support to people sleeping rough through £10 wellbeing packs.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing broader financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, resource allocation and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

• Having oversight of all financial management across the organization and developing reports for the board
• To overall manage budgeting and financial forecasting
• To ensure that the department heads covering fundraising and finance are supported and well aligned with the strategic direction and priorities of Youth Advantage UK
• To ensure the organization has sufficient financial resources
• To ensure fundraising occurs and supports the organization's need
• To line manage departmental heads with relevant departments
• To contribute to wider C Level Executive work such as taking part in meetings, presenting the organization and dealing with problems as they arise

Requirements:

• To have over 5 years of experience in the financial sector
• To have at least 2 years of experience in a senior financial management role (such as Senior Manager or Department Head) 
• To be able to provide leadership and management
• To have good IT skills, accounting skills, budgeting skills, ability to use spreadsheets and remote systems and good communication skills

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help look after Dorothy House donation boxes in their local area. These small but mighty boxes are found in community shops and buildings, and help to raise thousands of pounds each year. With your help we can make sure they’re always in the right places and well looked after.

This is a simple, flexible role that makes a big difference close to home.

Income from our shop collection boxes raises over £35,000 every year, and with help, this figure could be much higher. It is also an amazing way to create lasting relationships with businesses situated in the heart of our community - businesses that help promote other valuable Dorothy House news and events. Please help us keep our collection boxes visible so we can continue to raise vital funds for end-of-life care.

You’ll volunteer in your own local area, choosing routes and venues that suit you, with support from the Dorothy House team whenever you need it.

What you will be doing

• Checking in on donation boxes in local shops, cafés, and community venues (small collection boxes you often see beside shop tills).
• Swapping full boxes for empty ones and depositing the cash using our secure local systems
• Spotting new places where a box could be placed
• Building light, friendly relationships with staff and thanking them for their support
• Sharing Dorothy House leaflets or information when appropriate

Skills Development Training (SDT) is a London-based organisation dedicated to empowering young people through creative, educational, and wellbeing-focused programmes. Women on the Frontline Ministries (WOFM) is a registered charity supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual exploitation through street-based prostitution, trafficking and other vulnerabilities. We offer outreach, a weekly drop-in, casework and relationship-based support to women who are too often neglected and stigmatised. We are looking for an experienced, motivated volunteer fundraiser to help us grow our income, raise awareness of the women we serve, and make sure this work can continue.

WOFM exists to bring dignity, safety and hope to vulnerable and exploited women in East London. Our work is practical and relational: meeting women where they are, building trust over time, and walking with them towards a more stable future. We are a small, dynamic team making a real and lasting difference and our reach depends on the generosity of those who fund it.

The role

As our Volunteer Fundraiser, you will help shape and deliver our fundraising strategy and turn it into real income. You will be a key part of securing the resources that sustain and grow our frontline support for women. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both planning and doing — and who wants their skills to count for something that matters.

What you'll do

• Help develop and deliver WOFM’s fundraising strategy and annual income goals.

• Research and identify funding opportunities — grants, trusts, foundations, corporate partners and community giving.

• Support the writing and submission of compelling funding applications and proposals.

• Help plan and run fundraising initiatives, appeals and awareness campaigns.

• Build and nurture relationships with donors, supporters and local partners.

• Help raise the profile of WOFM and the plight of the women we serve.

• Work closely with the Board and team to track progress and report on results.

What we're looking for

• Experience in fundraising, bid writing, income generation or a closely related field.

• A genuine passion for our cause and the women at the heart of our work.

• Strong written and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to make the ask.

• A strategic mindset paired with the drive to follow through and get things done.

• Self-motivated, organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

• An understanding of, or willingness to work within, a values-led charitable setting.

Practical details

• Type: Voluntary, unpaid with reasonable agreed expenses reimbursed.

• Time commitment: Flexible, approximately 4-8 ours per month, by arrangement.

• Location: Remote, with some involvement in East London by agreement.
