As an Adventure Ambassador, you will act as the face of Adventures for Animals on our UK and overseas trips. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for travel with your commitment to animal welfare, while inspiring others to take part in meaningful challenges. Your primary focus will be on promoting trips, building community engagement, supporting fundraising and delivering an exceptional participant experience before and during each adventure.

Key Responsibilities

Promote Inspiring Adventures

• Generate interest and excitement through social media, community outreach, and personal networks.
• Encourage registrations, and later fundraising, by sharing the purpose and impact of Adventures for Animals and the work of IAPWA.

Host and Represent on Trips

• Act as the official Adventure Ambassador on each trip, representing Adventures for Animals and IAPWA.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive group environment.
• Support participants throughout the journey to help ensure a smooth and memorable experience.

Incentives and Rewards

• Once a trip reaches an agreed capacity, you will secure a free place on the expedition.
• At the next agreed benchmark, you will receive free return flights for the adventure.
• At full capacity, you will also then receive a generous trip allowance.

Represent the Mission

• Attend monthly team meetings with fellow Adventure Ambassadors.

We are looking for a Volunteer Field Assistant who is passionate about community storytelling and documentary-style media.
This role will support our interview sessions by helping to capture footage, assist with equipment, and help identify individuals willing to share their stories. The role may also involve filming secondary camera angles, capturing supporting footage, or conducting brief interviews with participants when multiple conversations are taking place.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in filmmaking, journalism, community media, or social impact storytelling.
 
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Community Interviews
•        Assist with filming interviews with members of the public
•        Capture secondary camera angles or supporting footage
•        Help ensure audio and camera equipment are working properly
•        Support the interviewer during conversations when needed
Community Engagement
•        Approach potential participants respectfully and explain the project
•        Help identify individuals who may wish to share their story
•        Conduct brief interviews or conversations when appropriate
Equipment Support
•        Assist with setting up and managing filming equipment
•        Help monitor cameras, microphones, and recording during interviews
•        Capture additional footage of the environment and surroundings
Storytelling Support
•        Help identify meaningful stories within the community
•        Support documentation of interviews and participant details
•        Provide feedback on footage captured during field sessions
Additional Filming Opportunities
Where appropriate, the role may include:
•        Capturing alternative camera angles
•        Recording short additional interviews while another interview is taking place
•        Capturing drone footage were permitted and safe NOT essential but desirable
 
Skills & Experience (Helpful but Not Required)
We welcome volunteers from different backgrounds. Experience in the following areas is helpful:
•        Basic camera operation (DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone filming)
•        Using microphones or audio recording equipment
•        Understanding of interview framing and filming techniques
•        Interest in documentary filmmaking or storytelling
Additional useful skills include:
•        Drone operation (with appropriate UK licensing)
•        Journalism or interview experience
•        Video editing knowledge
•        Experience working in community or outreach environments

At St John Ambulance we are looking to embed ourselves within our communities, delivering support which is tailored to the needs of those communities whilst providing a positive experience for our Volunteers.

We need leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities, who care about helping and developing others, who will lead and inspire a volunteer movement across a geographical area to deliver Community First Aid, Community Education and Community Fundraising as well as develop our offering for young people. Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

As the Network Community Lead you will oversee the delivery of our Community First Aid programmes and local Fundraising and Engagement activity within your Community Network in line with the established needs of your community. Your role will be pivotal in increasing the impact of our community programmes by ensuring they are effectively implemented and widely accessible, increasing charitable income to support the networks be sustainable whilst also growing, engaging the local community in the work of St John Ambulance. Through your leadership, people in the communities will gain essential first aid skills, empowering them to respond confidently in emergencies and ultimately save lives whilst also actively supporting local fundraising to maintain our presence and impact. You will support the growth of a motivated and skilled base of volunteers who will be involved in a wide range of activities.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

Volunteers would be expected to attend training for the role both online and in person, to attend regularly network weekly meetings to enable them to keep their skills up to date.

A full driving license is required, local travel across Cornwall on a regular basis to attend community events and training

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

We're looking for a Stalls Assistant Manager to help us to deliver an engaging and diverse stalls area at our flagship event, ensuring that the stalls area is a valuable and enriching experience for stallholders and attendees.

Ideal time commitment: approx. 5-10 hours per month; flexible. This is likely to increase on the approach to an event. 

Location: remote/ home based, in-person attendance at events is desirable

Supported/ supervised by: the Stalls Manager, also working closely with volunteers in the Events team

Bi Pride UK’s mission is to create spaces where people who experience attraction beyond gender can be freely visible and celebrate themselves and their identities. It’s not enough to be ‘welcome’ at Pride. We make up a very large proportion of the queer community – the 2021 Census actually shows we’re half of the community – and we deserve to be visible and celebrated in our own right.

There are many ways to make this happen, and we work in many ways to bring this change about:

• Outreach work with other Prides, LGBTQ+ organisations and bi organisations – our consultation work with local Prides, the UK Pride Organisers Network and local and national LGBTQ+ organisations works in a tailored way to make sure that bi inclusion is a top priority and is being done well

• Organising a high-profile annual Bi Pride event – from September 2019, Bi Pride UK made history with the largest ever gathering of bi people recorded. A performance stage, a panel stage, stall village, street food, and over 1,300 attendees. After going virtual with the BiFi Festival for 2020 due to Covid-19 and running a virtual Pride event in 2021, we came back in person in 2022 with a hybrid event, and have been running the event in this format ever since

• Building a strong online and virtual community – just as important as the rest of our work is making sure that people hear about it! People need to know what resources and spaces exist for them, and how they can connect with other people like them

The role:

The Events team at Bi Pride UK is one of the core operational teams within the charity. The team handles programming, production and execution of our events, including our annual flagship Bi Pride event, which holds the record for the largest Bi Pride event in the world. This role will sit within the Stalls sub-team, who are responsible for organising the stalls area within Bi Pride UK’s events; a space which hosts stalls from bi+ community groups, LGBTQ+ charities, small businesses and other fantastic organisations.

The Stalls Assistant Manager will support the Stalls Manager on the planning and delivery of the Stalls area at Bi Pride UK’s events. This role will work collaboratively with the other Stalls Assistant Managers, and support the “on-the-day” volunteers at our events.  The holder of this role will work to maximise engagement in the stalls area and ensure that the stalls area is a valuable and enriching experience for all involved.

Key tasks of this role will include: 

• Working closely with the Stalls Manager, as well as volunteers across the charity, to deliver a stalls area that meets the charity’s vision;

• Supporting the Stalls Manager to recruit a diverse range of stalls, contributing to assessments of each stall holder’s suitability/ reputational risk against the aims and objectives of Bi Pride UK;

• Overseeing the completion of stall holder contracts, receipt of invoices and other relevant documentation, including accurate record keeping and storage of such documents;

• Supporting the Stalls Manager to organise the logistics for the stalls area (including layout, arrival times and access to resources such as plug sockets, etc.);

• Assisting the smooth delivery of the stalls area at the event, including guiding on-the-day event volunteers to carry out their tasks; 

• Maintaining positive relationships and facilitating effective communication with prospective stall holders, confirmed stall holders, volunteers, the venue, and any other relevant stakeholders;

• Working with the Access & Inclusion team and the Accessibility Consultant to implement their recommendations and ensure the I Am Proud Stage meets a high standard of accessibility. 

Our team volunteers remotely from anywhere in the UK, with some travel required occasionally (primarily for our flagship Pride event in London in August). All reasonable expenses incurred are reimbursed, including travel, lunch at away days and other all day events, and some childcare costs if required. The successful candidate will be invited to fortnightly Events team meetings on Wednesday evening via conference call, in addition to Stalls sub-team meetings which will be scheduled in line with the team’s best availability. 

Volunteer specification:

• Interest and passion for tackling discrimination against and improving the visibility of people in the UK attracted to more than one gender;

• An understanding of the needs of people and communities in the UK attracted beyond gender;

• Commitment to the aims and objectives of Bi Pride UK;

• Experience of delivering stalls-based events (preferable but not essential);

• Understanding of organising event logistics (e.g. venue layout, timings, resources) and some awareness of relevant health and safety and risk management measures;

• Ability to handle documentation and accurate record keeping in a manner which adheres to confidentiality and GDPR requirements;

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with volunteers at all levels within the organisation, as well as with external contributors (for example, stall holders);

• Excellent IT skills (for example, Google Workspace applications);

• Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Meticulous attention to detail;

• Strong team player, with the ability to self-motivate when working remotely;

• Availability on Saturday 29th August 2026 to support delivery of Bi Pride’s flagship event in London.
