Sunday Shift Lead Volunteer 

Where you will be based Oxfam Micklegate Shop York

Why we want you

We’re seeking friendly, reliable individuals aged 18 or over who want to make a

difference in their community by helping their local Oxfam shop to stay open

for as long possible. We need people to open and close the shop, and ensure

volunteers know what tasks to undertake so the shop can run smoothly.

No prior experience is needed, as we provide full training. If you’re open to

learning, enjoy working with others, and have a passion for helping people,

you’ll fit right in!

You have the time to become a volunteer in your community; you might be

looking for work experience, the opportunity to meet new people, or keep

active.

By volunteering with us in one of our amazing retail spaces

you will be raising essential funds for Oxfam – all whilst

learning new skills and meeting some incredible people.

What you will be doing

Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:

Opening or closing the shop.

Ensuring that the shop is ready to trade or cashing up at the end of trade

Allocating tasks to members of the volunteer team.

Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.

Chatting to customers, giving great service on the till.

Researching valuable and vintage stock.

Visual merchandising: creating eye-catching window and in-store displays.

Photographing and listing items for the online shop.

This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe

working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety

training to all volunteers.

About Our Charity Shops in Chesham and Burnham

The shop is part of the South Buckinghamshire branch and plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community, as well as funds so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items. We require help on the shop floor and in our stock room or you could volunteer to do a mixture of both.

Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant responsibilities

• Helping customers in the shop find what they need.
• Accepting donations of items and money from the public.
• Processing sales through the till and card machine, including Gift Aid. We provide full training but if you prefer not to use the till there are other tasks you can get involved with instead.
• Sorting through donated items to determine what we can sell.
• Preparing donated items for sale by steaming and hanging items.
• Merchandising stock on the shop floor.
• Creating attractive shop window displays.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant

• Friendly volunteers who are confident talking to people.
• Retail experience would be ideal but is not necessary as full training will be given.
• We are ideally aiming for someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment predominately 8 hours or more per week, help during weekdays is particularly welcome.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• Using the till is not essential, as you can help with other tasks.
• You will need to be aged 16 or over.
• Our induction is online and you will need basic IT skills and access to a computer. However, if you are unable to do this you may ask a friend to help you or we can arrange a paper-based induction instead.

Fundraising Trustee (Milton Keynes)

With your support and expertise, we will achieve so much! We’re looking for a dedicated Fundraising Trustee to help us grow our impact and secure vital resources for the animals who need us most.

Overview of the Fundraising Trustee opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person who could devote the time to volunteer with us as one of our Trustees. As a Trustee of the Branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. You will serve on the governing body of the charity and be instrumental in the running of the Branch and setting out both the short and long terms aims.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

The RSPCA Milton Keynes & North Bucks Branch

The Milton Keynes & North Bucks Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.

Primary responsibilities of the Fundraising Trustee

• Lead on developing and delivering fundraising strategies
• Help identify new income streams and build relationships with donors, sponsors, and community groups
• Support and advise the board on fundraising best practices
• Champion our cause and represent the branch at events and in the community
• Identify grant opportunities and apply for relevant funding streams via grants

What we are looking for in a Fundraising Trustee:

We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the following areas:

• Experience in fundraising, marketing, or income generation

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care.

As an RPR Support Volunteer you might:

· Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support

· Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes

· Raise concerns

About Us

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is a 501(c)(3) international non-profit

organization founded in 2001. We provide education and safe Children's Homes to

impoverished children in Indonesia, Kenya, and Thailand through our five IHF Centers.

Our Mission

1. Educate Marginalized Children: Activate their highest potential and nurture

loving communities. The happiness of our world's children rises above all political

and religious differences and equates to the quality of our world's happiness

tomorrow.

2. Educate Global Citizens: Through communication and real-life experiences,

both online and in person, we teach about the realities of marginalized

communities and impart practical skills for aiding needed efforts, thus giving a

voice to the voiceless.

Volunteer Role

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team at the IHF Indonesia Center in

Bali. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in international team leadership,

coordination of center activities, and engagement with the local community.

Responsibilities

● Participate in rotational assignments in the core components of the International

○ Center operations

○ Legalities

○ Community development

○ Finance

○ Fundraising

○ Media and communications

○ And more

● Assist in coordinating center activities

● Report to the CEO and Center Directors

What We Offer

● Accommodation: Room with bed and mattress provided.

● Electricity and Wi-Fi: Stable network to carry on online tasks.

● Global Leadership Development (GLD): A one-year training program equipping

you with skills to run an international organization as a director.

● Stipend:

○ $35/month for the first 3 months

○ $65/month for months 4-6

○ $85/month for months 7-9

○ $100/month for months 10-12

● Potential Employment: After one year of successfully completing the GLD

training, volunteers may be considered for employment positions within the

organization, if available.

Requirements

● Minimum of a high school diploma

● Basic computer knowledge

● Smartphone for communication

● Valid police clearance/good conduct certificate issued by the government

● Fluent in English

● Able to use Zoom

● Honest, well-behaved individual with no criminal record

● Ability to work with children and adhere to both national and international laws

governing our operations
