At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows. Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. This role is working therapeutically alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support days on either a Saturday or Sunday in a group setting.  Ideally you will have experience in working with children and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and be able to support children and young people in distress and remain calm. 

You will be working therapeutically with your allocated child after receiving training.  You will have a group leader who will guide you through the structure of each day. There is also a Clinical Lead who will oversee and facilitate the programme.

You will also be expected to attend a debrief at the end of each day and also complete detailed documentation on the child/ young person you have been working with.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  We pay 40pence per mile to cover your travel expenses. We will provide training (Safeguarding Children, Volunteer Induction Day and other specialist training days).

You will also have the opportunity to observe a weekend programme in action before you work with a child / young person. We will pay for your DBS check and provide you with a uniform.

Overview of the role

We are seeking three or four individuals to be active members, and maybe a future Vice-Chair, of our Board of Trustees, working collaboratively with other trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to help the Foodbank in pursuit of its Vision and Strategic Plan. The Trustee will also be expected to lead on certain areas and initiatives, as required by the charity, and which utilises the Trustees experience and skills.

Volunteering is a fantastic way for you to be involved in your local community and volunteers are at the heart of all that we do as a Foodbank. The role of volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to support people in crisis will continue to be critical as we work together to fulfil our vision of seeing a UK without the need for Foodbanks.

Key Tasks:

· ensure that Stratford Upon Avon Foodbank complies with and pursues its objects as defined in its governing document, charity and company law, and other relevant legislation or regulations

· ensure that the Foodbank applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects

· give firm strategic direction to the Foodbank contributing to the Foodbank’s strategic plan, helping set policies, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets

· appoint the Foodbank manager and monitor their performance

· safeguard the good name and ethos of the Foodbank

· ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Foodbank

· lead and/or serve on sub-committees and attendance at various other meetings, including with the charity’s staff, volunteers, and stakeholders. 

· ensure an understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion

It is hoped that Trustees will also undertake additional work for the charity between meetings subject to their availability and skill set.  

About you:

We are looking for people who want to help their local community and work towards the eradication of food poverty whilst support the Foodbank to continue to provide emergency food to people who find themselves in crisis. Our ideal candidates would demonstrate:

· a desire for helping and making a difference to people who do not have enough money to afford the essentials

· a passion for, and commitment to, Stratford Upon Avon Foodbank

· ideally have current or previous third-sector experience

· compassion, honesty, openness, kindness, and integrity

The St Barnabas Shop in Worthing town Centre offer a wide range of beautiful affordable outfits, including wedding dresses, suits and prom dresses.

You’ll get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus you’ll be part of a fantastic team of volunteers. We are ideally looking for assistance on a Saturday and one day during the week, however please do get in touch to discuss availability.

The Retail Distribution Centre (RDC) is where donations are stored, sorted, cleaned and distributed to the shops. Our volunteers help with household items ranging from crockery, toys, small electrical items, pictures, as well as clothes, shoes and bags. You will become part of the team that will sort, prepare, and recycle donations for resale.

Our community events give older residents a much-needed chance to get out, connect and feel part of something special. As an events volunteer, you’ll help create these warm and inclusive spaces — setting up, greeting guests, supporting activities and chatting with attendees.

evSome volunteers also help drive people to and from events, making sure everyone can take part, whatever their circumstances.

You’ll deliver fun and inspiring talks to local groups, schools, and clubs, sharing the incredible impact of our assistance dogs and the lives they change. About the opportunity

This role involves providing talks to a variety of groups, schools and organisations within your local area, raising awareness and promoting our fundraising activities.

There is no minimum commitment for this role. Times can vary, and you can choose which talks you attend. Talks primarily take place during the week, with some evenings. The length of each talk will vary depending on the group’s requirements.

You will be provided with speaker training before beginning this role. Talk requests are handled by the Canine Partners fundraising team; however, we would encourage you to secure your own talks within your local area.

We’re looking for a volunteer to support the preparation and submission of funding applications for community, arts, and cultural initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with documents, forms, and deadlines, and wants their work to have a clear, practical impact.

You’ll help keep funding bids organised and on track by completing application forms using provided project information, preparing and uploading supporting documents, and checking that submissions meet funder guidelines and eligibility criteria. You’ll also help track deadlines, maintain a simple record of applications and outcomes, and flag any missing information or compliance requirements.

You’ll work closely with a supportive core team who provide the project vision and content. The focus of the role is on accuracy, structure, and submission quality rather than writing long narratives or managing delivery. The role is flexible, can be done remotely, and can be shaped around your availability.

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

This is an Out and about visit role which means your visits are likely to be longer, very active and the person you visit will often take an active part in planning your outings and activities in the community. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around a couple of hours, sometimes shorter or longer, depending on what you plan to do.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:

• Sitting and having a chat
• Checking in on their well- being
• Going out to a local café/pub for a meal/drink
