We want to collaborate with more organisations, schools, and hospitals to spread the word about our work and services. To do this, we are looking for volunteers to join our outreach team and support these efforts.

SLOW, an award-winning charity supporting bereaved families, is excited to welcome an experienced Chair to lead our Board of Trustees, when our current Chair retires in June 2026. The appointee will be tasked with moving the organisation to the next level in delivering the sustainable growth of its bereavement services. 

The Chair of SLOW is entrusted with the vital task of leading the Board of Trustees and its Director to ensure it fulfils its legal and governance responsibilities while remaining true to the mission and values of the charity.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged individual to come into SLOW and utilise their extensive charity governance experience to help the charity on its strategic journey. As the Chair of the Board of Trustees, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and further developing the charity's strategic direction and acting as an ambassador for the organisation. The Chair will be required to lead the Board to consensus-based decisions, as well as provide strategic and critical support to its Director. The Chair will ensure that the organisation continues to fulfil its objectives and work towards its goals and mission, while also promoting the highest standards of charity governance. Join Skills Development Training as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for Free Basketball Sessions!

We're seeking a reliable Volunteer Assistant Coach for every Saturday, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at 1 Selby Road, White Hart Lane, London - Haringey N17 8JL. Support our free basketball training for boys and girls aged 11-18, helping them develop skills, make friends, and stay active in a fun, supportive environment!

What you'll do:

• Assist with drills, skill-building activities, and small-sided games during the full 2-hour sessions every Saturday.

• Support a positive vibe for all abilities – no coaching experience needed, just energy and passion for basketball!

• Help manage equipment and ensure smooth delivery alongside the lead coach.

What we offer:

We are looking for volunteers to help source, sell, and send clothes on Vinted to raise money for our services. This role is not about listing your own items but about sourcing donated items from others that we can then sell to support our work.

About this role

We are looking for new trustees to join our board to fill vacancies. 

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with our high impact team. You’ll help the organisation to increase understanding of the challenges facing people in Wales, help to develop effective solutions and keep the charity on course.

The usual term of office of trustees is four years, with the possibility of another four-year term thereafter.

Trustees do not get paid, although reasonable expenses for travel may be claimed.

About you

We are looking for people who are passionate about improving the lives of the people of Wales, and who want to make a difference by generating insights that help to change public policy and practice.

Trustees come from all walks of life – there are no specific qualifications or experiences we require. However, applications from people with fundraising or senior leadership experience, or from people fluent in the Welsh language, would be particularly welcome.

We want our board to reflect the breadth of Wales’ population. We welcome applications from everyone, but would particularly like to hear from younger people, people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and people in north and west Wales. We’d also welcome applications from people working in front-line roles with people on low-incomes.

Don’t worry if you haven’t had experience of being a trustee or board member before. We will offer you support and training to help you to undertake your role, and in addition we’re aiming to partner with external board training programmes.

The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is seeking an exceptional individual to join its Board of Trustees as Honorary Secretary, a pivotal governance position at the heart of a respected UK professional body and learned society. As Honorary Secretary, you will contribute at a strategic level, helping to ensure strong governance, supporting effective Board leadership, and shaping the future direction of the charity with real impact across the UK healthcare system.  You will work closely with the President, Trustees and CEO, contributing to strategic decision-making and helping to ensure the Board operates effectively and transparently. 

IPEM operates as a professional body, a learned society, and a registered charity, working across hospitals, universities, and industry. IPEM is supported by a professional and collaborative staff team, working in partnership with its volunteer community. With over 4,700 members working across healthcare, academia and industry, IPEM plays a critical role in advancing physics and engineering in medicine to improve patient outcomes and transforming lives.

This is an unpaid role, with expenses paid for travel and sustenance for in person meetings. We anticipate a time commitment of no more than 12 days per year. It's essential that you are not a member of IPEM and eligible to become a Trustee. This is a 3 year term, renewable once.

Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that 
have been bereaved. 

THIS ROLE COULD BE FOR YOU IF:

- Would like to make a real difference in someone’s life

- Want to challenge loneliness and can commit to a weekly phone call

- Are a good listener

- Are empathetic, patient and of a caring nature

- Have good verbal and inter-personal communication skills

- Recognise the importance of confidentiality and can uphold this in practice

REQUIREMENTS OF A BEFRIENDER INCLUDE:

- Calling your client once a week for a chat of up to 45 minutes; this is a 26 week initial commitment, at the end of which each client’s needs are reviewed

- Completing an online call log record promptly after each phone call

- Ensuring immediate contact with the Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others

- Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs

- Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults
