We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid role, based in the UK. We are unfortunately not able to provide support with visa requests.

Volunteering in the shop
Our Holywood, Belfast Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need any retail or shop experience as full training will be provided. We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?
After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

What we're looking for

We need enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers who can cheer as loudly as possible for our runners as they go past our cheer point. Every year thousands of people join Team NSPCC to take on a challenge and raise money to help protect children and prevent abuse. Together with other cheerers, you'll make a huge difference to how our  runners feel – helping them to complete a challenge they've spent months preparing for.

What you'll do

You'll be joining other lively and enthusiastic cheerers at our NSPCC cheer point along the route – be ready for cheering, clapping, whooping or even singing. It's a team effort, so you would also help with setting up the cheer point, giving out t-shirts and cheering materials, making sure the area is kept tidy and helping with packing down.

We'll be in touch to arrange with you what time to arrive, where to meet and what to expect. You don't have to be an official cheerer to come along and support team NSPCC. So if you can't make the full-time or to our cheer point, we'd still love to see there, just look up the event time and come along.

What you'll get

Volunteering at our events is a great way to experience the fantastic atmosphere of event days, without the training! The atmosphere at our cheer point is amazing, and we'll provide you with cheering materials and an NSPCC t-shirt so all you have to bring is your enthusiasm.

You'll be accompanied by NSPCC staff to support you and answer any questions you may have. Travel expenses will be covered up to the value of £5.00.

Who's right for the role?

You don't need any prior experience, just a sense of fun, team spirit and enthusiasm. It's important that you're able to spend a few hours outside, spending lots of this time cheering and clapping. You'll also need to stand for a few hours so, if you think this would be difficult, we'd advise bringing along a travel chair. If you are a wheelchair user, please let us know and we can help to identify a suitably accessible cheering point for you.

You'll need to feel comfortable if members of the public ask you about your volunteering role and will simply need to direct them to a member of staff if they have any questions about the NSPCC. We need volunteers with a warm and friendly manner, as the NSPCC is 90 per cent funded by public donations so the impression people have of us is incredibly important.

Please be aware that you'll need to make your own way to your cheer point (we will give you directions).

Main purpose of role:

To take on the responsibilities of our direct social media output.

To support our communications and marketing work.

To help with creating content for our newsletters, social media, print media and other promotional material over time.

Main duties will include:

1. Create content to be attractive, informative and inclusive.

2. Post across Instagram, Blue Sky, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn to promote the organisation

3. Support designated team members to utilise social media to thank and engage our supporters, doners and funders.

4. Form key relationships with organisations and brands.

5. Create new ideas to make the best use of our social media to improve our engagement with the unpaid carers we support, and existing and potential volunteers.

6. Collaborating with other team members to contribute to and adhere to the wider communications strategy.

7. Maintain strict GDPR and confidentiality practices at all times.

8. Monitor and report on engagement rates of each post/platform to inform our messaging.

9. To carry out the above tasks in accordance with the policies and procedures of Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing. 

Person Specification

• A good understanding of the best practice for maximum social media engagement (i.e: best time of day to post, how to write comments and captions that will gain engagement) and a willingness to learn more about this.

This friendship group was started to provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities to make friends, go on monthly trips and overall have a lot of fun. You can help us make that happen!

An opportunity is available to volunteer at a friendship group for adults with learning disabilities No prior experience is required. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and a supportive attitude are what matter most.

Projects You May Support

Volunteers can choose to help with one or both projects:

1. Friendship Group

• When: Every Tuesday during term time, 1:30pm–4:30pm
• Where: Canning Town Library

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting participants during various activities (e.g., reading tasks).
• Encouraging communication and helping build friendships.
• Boosting confidence through positive interaction.
• Assisting with setting up and packing away activities.
• Helping individuals get refreshments.
• Building trust through calm, kind engagement.
• Reporting any concerns, incidents, or disclosures to staff.

2. Joy Hub

• When: Usually the last Tuesday of each month during term time (timings may vary; activities announced up to 4 months in advance).
• Purpose: Monthly free outings planned by the Friendship Group—examples include bowling, cinema, theatre, and museum visits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring everyone feels included.
• Encouraging individuals to participate and build confidence.
• Helping with practical tasks such as navigating meeting points, refreshments, and transitions between activities.
• Building rapport through supportive, calm interactions.
• Reporting any concerns or incidents to staff.

Buttons & Bubbles C.I.C working to increase inclusion and representation to the disability community. We are hosting a Christmas extravaganza for disabled families in Windsor and Woking this November and December. We aim to bring the magic and sensory aspects of the festive period but in a relaxed environment, where everyone understands. If you have a creative act and enjoy working with communities, we’d love to hear from you!

We are looking for acts such as:

• Glow artists (LED, light-based acts)
• Circus performers (e.g. juggling, stilt walkers, entertainers)
• Face painters
• Sensory or interactive experiences (e.g. Bubble shows, arts and crafts stations)

Are you a big football fan who enjoys playing football as well as watching it?

We are looking for volunteer football enthusiasts to both play football and enjoy talking all things football with someone with learning disabilities and or autism.  As a volunteer you will need to be able to volunteer for a couple of hours each week.

What does the role involve?

Our football volunteers will enjoy spending time having a kick about, perhaps watching a game on TV and perhaps having a post-match discussion. Trips to watch the odd live game would also be an enjoyable experience for the people we support.

Volunteer Project & Outreach Assistant (Youth & Community Development)Help shape opportunities for young people in London while gaining hands-on experience in fundraising, outreach, and project delivery.

Skills Development Training (SDT) is a London-based organisation dedicated to empowering young people through creative, educational, and wellbeing-focused programmes. We are looking for a proactive and passionate Volunteer Project & Outreach Assistant to work closely with our Director and support the growth and delivery of our community initiatives.

This is a flexible opportunity (1–2 days per week, remote and/or in-person) ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience in the charity sector, social enterprise, or community development.

Role Description

This role sits within our Men’s Minds project, based in Hounslow. The aim of the service is to improve men’s mental health outcomes by developing a mental health network supported and directed by the voices of its members.

This will be achieved through three service strands: 1) Peer support network, 2) Psychoeducation workshops, addressing common needs of men’s mental health 3) Outreach support to raise awareness of men’s mental health and promote this service.

The role of the Outreach Volunteer will be to support the Project Coordinator with engagement activities with the local community, increase awareness of our activities with local groups and to encourage new participants to attend. We would expect you physically attend community events to promote our groups and encourage new participants to join.
 

We are looking for someone who

• Someone who identifies as male
• Has lived experience of mental health challenges
• Are a non-judgmental and friendly individual
• To be able to provide a welcoming, authentic, and positive experience for all, being inclusive and embracing diversity
• To feel comfortable engaging with people with mental health challenges / difficult life experiences, by validating strengths and experiences and using empowering language to overcome negative self-talk

Time commitment and expenses

• Flexible hours between Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays.
• We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

To ensure the safety of the people we support, we require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.

130 Primrose is a charity restaurant in Primrose Hill using hospitality as a vehicle for change- recruiting, training and employing people with lived experience of homelessness.

In just 12 months, we’ve already supported individuals into paid work, qualifications, and long-term employment pathways. Now, we’re entering an exciting growth phase, with ambitions to scale our model to new sites and reach significantly more people. 

We’re seeking a Strategic Finance Trustee to join our board and help guide this next stage- bringing commercial insight, financial clarity, and strategic challenge as we grow.

About the Role

This is a strategic, non-operational trustee position for a senior finance leader who can translate financial insight into clear, practical decision-making.

You’ll work closely with the Chair, CEO, and Board to ensure our model is financially sustainable, scalable, and impactful- supporting both our social mission and our trading activity.

Our model combines earned income (restaurant operations) with social impact, making financial leadership a critical lever for success.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Board on financial strategy, planning, and risk oversight
• Challenge and refine forecasting and cashflow planning (12–36 months)
• Strengthen financial visibility (P&L, balance sheet, cash) for operational teams
• Advise on unit economics, including menu margins, labour model, and cost control
• Improve budgeting, KPIs, and scenario modelling to support growth (e.g. new sites)
• Contribute to funding strategy, including grants, partnerships, and social investment
• Help establish and potentially chair a Finance & Risk Committee
• Ensure strong governance, compliance, and financial controls
• Act as a critical friend- supporting and constructively challenging leadership

About You

We’re looking for a senior finance leader (e.g. CFO, Finance Director, or equivalent) who brings:

• Significant experience leading financial strategy within complex organisations
