We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to take on the role of Community First Aid Network Leader who can work and lead volunteering groups and leaders in their own way, supported by our central teams 

The Network Lead role focuses on the York Vale Network. Locations are primarily centred around York and the surrounding areas. 

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to embed ourselves within our communities, delivering support which is tailored to the needs of those communities whilst providing a positive experience for our Volunteers. 

We need leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities, who care about helping and developing others, who will lead and inspire a volunteer movement across a geographical area to deliver Community First Aid, Community Education and Community Fundraising as well as develop our offering for young people. 

Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

This role calls for strong leadership abilities and proven experience in managing people. Successful candidates will have access to additional leadership development opportunities, including self-directed learning and structured training courses. 

The position involves attending County meetings every 6 weeks and occasional Regional meetings, both online via Teams and in person. If you are successful, you will need to undertake relevant training for the role, details of which will be discussed after you have been appointed.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. Volunteers would be expected to commit 100 hours of volunteering a year in a clinical capacity. They will also be expected to keep in regular contact with their line manager and keep up to date with their training.

This role will require an in-person interview, which will take place provisionally in Birmingham City Centre. Interview dates/times will be emailed to you should your application be successful. Please ensure that you are able to attend an in person interview in Birmingham before submitting your application.

Once your screening for role has been completed, you will be invited to attend your local St John Ambulance Network for a Welcome and Induction.

Training for this role consists of online learning modules and a 6 day in-person course, normally spread across three weekends. Your local Network will support you through the training process.

St John is one of the largest youth organisations in the country and many of our young volunteers go onto careers in health and/or social care.

Being a youth volunteer helps young people develop skills and confidence that go on to help them with further education and university applications. To do this we need dedicated and enthusiastic youth helpers. Do you have 2 hours in an evening, once a week during school term times to join our fun loving youth team supporting and developing our young inspirational volunteers? No matter what your interests: Crafting, Singing/Dancing, History, Science or caring for people/animals, we welcome you to join us. 

Full training is provided. This is a great opportunity to develop your own skills, knowledge and build on your CV. All whilst having fun, making friends and supporting your community. 

Our Badger are children aged 5-10 years of age and the Cadets are 11 – 17

As part of the role, successful volunteers would need to attend a six-day training course (over three weekends), and maintain CPD by completing a minimum of 100 operational hours (as an Emergency Responder at events). Volunteers would also be expected to attend network meetings on a regular basis.

We will be running a number of information events locally and these will be shared after selection of your application.

Interviews will be held in Mid-April at our Liverpool HQ. The selection centre will include an informal conversation with some of our volunteers, double checking of details and the opportunity to have a go at some lifesaving skills.

• Welcome Event (Induction) -01st September 2026, details of times, venue to follow. Induction will be partly done during network meetings supported by a wider SJA introduction day, once screening for role is completed.

Candidates will attend a 30 minute interview. New volunteers will attend a network training session as part of their welcome and be introduced to the processes of St John Ambulance. New volunteers will also be provided with a buddy to guide them through the process.

The Emergency Responder programme includes: - A knowledge workbook to work through at your own pace before the course, supported by members of your network, -16 hours of self-directed e-learning, done alongside the workbook and, - 48 hours of in-person training sessions spread over 6 days. Those with a Level 3 qualification or higher in First Responder on Scene (FROS) or First Responder Emergency Care (FREC) already will only have to complete 16 hours of in-person training sessions.

OSH is at a pivotal point in its development.

Over the past few years, OSH has grown from a small, founder-led organisation into a national movement with increasing reach, complexity, and ambition. About You

Essential

• Significant experience in organisational and strategic leadership, ideally including guiding a charity or mission-driven organisation from small to medium scale
• A proactive and forward-thinking mindset, demonstrating the ability to anticipate potential issues and risks while identifying opportunities.
• Strong understanding of good governance, with the confidence to lead a board and hold senior executives to account
• Experience of or exposure to fundraising, financial sustainability, and organisational development
• The ability to balance support and challenge, particularly in a Chair - CEO relationship
• Commitment to OSH’s mission and values, including a genuine willingness to engage with and be guided by those with lived experience of the asylum system
• Highly organised and dynamic, with the ability to prioritise the effective use of Board time, facilitate the timely and focused distribution of information, and ensure appropriate follow-up to Board decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the emotional intelligence to lead inclusively, collaboratively, and sensitively

Desirable

• Lived experience of asylum or forced migration
• Previous experience as a Chair or Vice-Chair of a charity or similar organisation

Personalised Eating Disorder Support (PEDS) is a nurse-led specialist eating disorder charity based in Peterborough and serving individuals, families, carers and professionals across the UK. We deliver early intervention, tailored one-to-one support, family sessions, training and education — all with compassion and respect — helping people manage symptoms and build lives not defined by their illness.

The Treasurer will play a central strategic role on the Board of Trustees, helping guide financial decisions that shape the future of the charity.

ROLE SUMMARY

We’re seeking a values-driven, committed volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. As Treasurer you will fulfil all statutory trustee duties, ensuring the charity operates in line with its governing document and legal requirements, while providing strategic financial oversight and guidance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the charity’s financial affairs, ensuring transparency and accountability

• Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are in place

• Provide clear and accessible financial reports to the Board

• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning

• Liaise with independent examiners/auditors during the annual accounts process

• Advise the Board on financial strategy, risk and sustainability

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Have relevant financial experience (accounting, finance, audit, governance or similar)

• Understand charity finances or are willing to learn

• Are committed to the values and mission of PEDS

• Enjoy collaborative working at board level

• Can commit to quarterly board meetings and preparation

Formal accounting qualifications are desirable but not essential.
