Job description

A welcome from our Chair

Thank you for your interest in becoming Chair of Age UK Lambeth.

For more than 70 years we have stood alongside older people in Lambeth, their families and carers. Today our staff and volunteers support thousands of residents each yearthrough information and advice, social prescribing, dementia support, practical help at home and a lively programme of social activities. Our partners in Lambeth Council and the NHS trust us to reach people who might otherwise fall through the gaps.

This is an important moment to join us. Our Strategy 2025-2030 sets a clear direction. We have a newly restructured senior leadership team, and, like many local charities, we need to grow and diversify ourincome so that ourwork is sustainable forthe long term. Our next Chairwill lead a committed Board through this phase, working in partnership with our Chief Executive to keep governance strong, finances sound and older people at the centre of every decision.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. You do not need to have chaired a charity before: senior leadership or board experience from the public, private or voluntary sectoris equally valuable. We particularly encourage applications from people who reflect the diversity of Lambeth, and from older people themselves.

If you would like an informal conversation before applying, please get in touch with our CEO, Paul. We would be delighted to hearfrom you.

Bernard Nawrat
Chair ofthe Board of Trustees, Age UK Lambeth
