What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to assist our Client Service Administrator on Reception in hosting our busy reception area and friendly waiting room. In this role, you will use your excellent interpersonal skills to welcome clients and visiting professionals and other volunteers to the Helen Bamber Foundation, making them feel comfortable, attending to any immediate needs they may have, assisting them with their queries and notifying clinicians and other staff of their arrival.

You will be at the heart of an exciting, team of experts working as a representative of the Helen Bamber Foundation and the first point of contact for our diverse range of clients and visitors.  You will be a self-motivating team player, organised, efficient and have a compassionate mind-set. 

Main tasks and activities

• Greeting clients and ensuring that clients are having their immediate needs met;
• Ensuring the reception is well-presented;
• Answering the phone and responding to a wide range of enquiries;
• Maintaining the shared Outlook calendar and co-ordinating room allocations;
• Ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day activities;
• General office administration including: ordering of office supplies, entering data, filing and organising office supplies storage etc;
• Reception cover when needed.
• Handling reimbursement of expenses for clients and fellow volunteers

Skills and experience needed

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high standard of written and spoken English;
• Excellent telephone manner; Empathetic and understanding.
• Computer literate with experience of Microsoft packages;
• High attention to detail and accuracy;
• Punctual, reliable and self-motivated with a positive, ’can-do’ attitude;
• Ability to deal sensitively and in a warm, friendly and appropriate manner with clients who have specific needs;
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks within a time-pressured environment;
• A high level of discretion and confidentiality given the sensitivity of the information and nature of the work;
• Understanding of, and commitment to, the objectives of the Helen Bamber Foundation.

Help raise awareness and funds for Teckels in your local area. Our Community Volunteers champion our work, represent Teckels at events, and inspire others to get involved.

About The Role

Step inside Scott House Museum, the home where Sir Peter Scott lived, worked and helped pioneer the world’s first live wildlife TV broadcasts. Overlooking Rushy Lake which is alive with wild birds, this unique museum captures a remarkable moment in conservation and broadcasting history.

We’re looking for volunteers to help care for the historic interiors, artworks and personal objects that make this house so special. If you love heritage, enjoy hands-on work with fascinating collections and take pride in looking after special places, this role could be for you.

What you’ll do

• Care for historic objects and furnishings to museum standards

• Support conservation cleaning and preventative care

• Monitor conditions and help protect the collection for the future

• Handle intriguing objects with stories to tell

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. Please note this role is not suitable for Under 18's.

Are you practical, reliable, or good with technology? We are looking for local volunteers to support our charity shops as Drivers, Handymen, IT Support volunteers – or a combination of all three. Whether you can help with one area or several, your support will play a vital role in helping us raise funds for our animal welfare work. We’re looking for practical, reliable people to help keep our charity shops running. Whether you’re handy with tools, happy behind the wheel, good with tech – or a mix of all three – we’d love to hear from you. You can get involved in the areas that suit your skills and availability, and your help will directly support our animal welfare work.

Overview of the opportunity

Our charity shops rely on skilled and dependable volunteers to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. This flexible role is ideal for someone who can help with driving donations, basic maintenance and repairs, or IT and technical support across our local shops. You will need to be local to Crystal Palace, Tooting or Croydon, as this role supports shops in these areas.

Our Charity Shops

Our local charity shops are essential in raising funds and awareness for our animal welfare work. They sell a wide range of donated items including clothing, books, bric-a-brac and collectables. Keeping our shops safe, functional and well-supported allows us to maximise the funds we raise for animals in need.

Volunteer responsibilities

Depending on your skills and interests, you may help with one or more of the following areas:

Driver support

• Collecting and delivering donated and purchased items
• Moving stock between charity shops
• Completing basic administration such as mileage returns
• Ensuring RSPCA policies and procedures are followed

Handyman / Maintenance support

• Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance in shops
• Fixing fixtures, fittings and shop equipment
• General upkeep to ensure shops are safe and welcoming

IT / Technical support

• Helping with basic IT issues (e.g. computers, printers, Wi-Fi)
• Setting up or troubleshooting shop technology
• Supporting staff and volunteers with simple tech queries

What we are looking for

• Someone local to Crystal Palace, Tooting or Croydon
• Reliable, friendly and willing to help
• Driver volunteers must have their own vehicle and good local knowledge
• Practical skills or IT experience are desirable but not essential

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· keeping financial records from fundraising events

· encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
