Help shape the future of St John Ambulance in South Buckinghamshire. We're looking for a motivated volunteer leader to establish and grow our new South Network, based in High Wycombe. You'll support and develop volunteers, recruit Adult Youth Leaders, and help expand our Cadet and Badger programmes so more young people can benefit from the opportunities St John Ambulance provides. Our Gardener Volunteers support our homes by helping to maintain their outdoor spaces through weeding, pruning and planting, so that the people we support can enjoy spending time in a beautiful environment. 

We are currently looking for volunteer gardeners for one of our services, who can support with the following tasks:

• Create planters

• Provide general maintenance of our gardens

• Watering, planting, weeding and pruning

• Maintaining flower beds

• Creating/improving/maintaining our sensory garden spaces

Skills required 

In order to become one of our gardener volunteers you will be:

• Knowledgeable about plants

• Confident using gardening equipment

 Volunteering with Victim Support in Staffordshire

As a Volunteer in Staffordshire your role will include:

·  Making a real impact by helping people affected by crime feel safer, supported, and empowered.

·  Building valuable skills and confidence through specialist training in safeguarding, risk assessment, and supporting victims of crime.

·  Representing Victim Support at local events and community activities, raising awareness and connecting with people who need help.

·  Networking with local organisations and community partners, gaining insight into multi-agency working and referral pathways.

What do we ask of you?

In order to join us as a Service Delivery Volunteer, you must:

·  Be 18 years of age or over.

·  Be able to volunteer for at least 6 hours per week, for at least 12 months.

·  Undertake training over a 10-week period – this includes 7 virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.

·  Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.

·  Be able to provide two satisfactory references.

·  Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

·  All Victim Support volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering, including travel and lunch.

Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Volunteers to join our drop in group in Crawley that take place on 1st and 3rd Monday of month, 10:30-12:30. This role is ideal for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact in the community while gaining valuable experience or perhaps someone looking to train as a speech and language therapist.

The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.

Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing.

Volunteers will support the running of the group with communicating, and will have the opportunity to utilise their communication skills and IT knowledge to take a register of attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and support to individuals, particularly those living with asphasia.
• Assist in organising activities that promote social interaction and engagement.
• Communicate effectively with participants, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
• Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
• Collaborate with other volunteers to enhance the group.

Qualifications

• An understanding or knowledge in aphasia is desirable.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
• Proficiency in IT, including familiarity with common software applications.
• A compassionate and patient attitude towards individuals in need of support.

What difference will you make?

As Volunteer Team Leader / Deputy Team Leader, you will play a key role in empowering people to create safer communities.

Our Day Centre provides vital support to individuals experiencing rough sleeping by offering a safe, welcoming space. Here, they can find warmth or shade, enjoy a hot meal, connect with positive company, and engage with essential services in a neutral, supportive environment.

We are currently looking for compassionate and dedicated people to join us in supporting the day-to-day operations of our Day Centre. This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping ensure vulnerable members of our community receive the care and support they need.

What you’ll be doing?

• Welcoming and registering attendees 
• Managing refreshments – providing tea, coffee and biscuits to our clients
• Assisting with serving food
• Supporting staff with the delivery of activities
• Helping to set up, clean and tidy at the end of the session
• Chatting with our clients and occasionally playing games
