The Fixing Factory is a community repair hub where we teach repair skills, repair and refurbish electrical waste, and help people keep their electrical items in use for longer.
Our work is made possible with the support of a team of volunteers who help people to get their electronic items fixed, learn repair skills and provide valuable support to environmental charities Possible (The 10:10 Foundation) and The Restart Project.
We’re looking for Experienced Fixers to join our volunteer team and help diagnose and repair electrical items at the Haringey Fixing Factory. Your skills will help keep valuable items in use for longer — supporting our mission to reduce waste and support our community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical items such as lamps, kettles, toasters and laptops
- Testing and signing off items ready for sale or donation
- Supporting less experienced fixers with more complex repairs
- Talking one-on-one with members of the public about how items can be repaired
- Helping keep the workshop safe, tidy and welcoming
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong electrical repair skills and experience fixing a range of items
- Can work independently and confidently troubleshoot faults
- Is organised, reliable and safety-conscious
- Enjoys sharing knowledge and supporting others

To guide Hackney CVS through a new chapter, we are looking to strengthen our Board with individuals who bring professional and lived experience.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for our next Treasurer, and trustees to join our Finance, Audit and Risk Sub-Committee, with experience in strategic financial management, liaising with external investment managers and an understanding of investment policies and practice. Expertise in charity finance including understanding of Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) is also preferable.
Additionally, we are looking for individuals with expertise in change management, people and culture, ideally with experience in purpose-driven organisations.
We're keen to hear from both experienced trustees, and those without previous trustee experience interested in the opportunity to learn and develop.

Key accountabilities
All trustees are accountable to the Co-Chairs of the Board.
Their role is to:

• Ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
• Ensure that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuit of its charitable objects
• Ensure that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets • Safeguard the good name and values of the organisation
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
• Ensure the financial stability of the organisation
• Protect and manage the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds
• Follow proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the Chief Executive

Position Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career development professional to gain practical experience in operations and administration while supporting impactful community and conservation programmes in southeast Madagascar. Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin, the Junior Operations and Support Officer will play an important role in supporting the systems and processes that enable SEED Madagascar’s projects to run effectively.
SEED Madagascar is a UK registered charity dedicated to creating long-term, sustainable change in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. Our programmes integrate community health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), education, rural livelihoods and environmental conservation initiatives, while contributing to international best practice through research and publications.
Working within a collaborative team of national and international staff, the Junior Operations and Support Officer will contribute to the day-to-day operations that underpin SEED’s work. This office-based role provides a wide range of responsibilities, offering valuable experience across administration, organisational systems and programme support. The role will also involve occasional interaction with SEED’s Conservation Research Team in the field, providing orientations and pastoral care to the volunteers on their programme.
The position sits at the heart of SEED’s operations and offers broad exposure to the practical realities of working within an international development organisation. The successful candidate will support organisational policies and procedures, assist with the recruitment of international staff and volunteers, coordinate onboarding processes for new team members, and contribute to the management and promotion of SEED’s short-term conservation volunteer programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide pre-departure logistical support and advice with visas, hotels, flights, accommodation, medication etc to new international staff and short-term conservation volunteers

Lead on supporting international staff during their initial time with SEED including arrival, orientation, social inclusion, cultural understanding, housing and integration into the SEED team.

Provide pastoral care, working with line managers to ensure that new and existing international staff and volunteers’ wellbeing is supported.

Support the Conservation team in Sainte Luce on providing orientations and pastoral care of volunteers when required

We’re WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife. We’re on a mission to restore wetlands because they are a wondrous solution to our world's problems. Together we will unlock their power – and help nature burst back to life. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish.
As a volunteer videographer at our wetland centre, you will play a vital role in helping us to inspire our visitors to connect with wetlands and wildlife. In this role you will be visiting WWT Martin Mere weekly or every two weeks to capture wildlife spectacles, species, visitors’ experiences and our volunteers for inclusion in promotional material online and for short-form video content across social media.
What will you be doing?
- Capturing videos of the centre, its wildlife, wetland landscapes, events and people (depending on skill level).
- Receiving direction from the centre Marketing Officer and HQ content team as well as taking videos whenever you find an opportunity.
- Working proactively with staff and volunteers at your local centre to capture key events and wildlife sightings that would make engaging content for website, marketing materials, social media etc.

Climate Emergency UK’s free, online, 4-week Local Climate Training Programme is the place to start!
Councils have the power and influence over around 30% of emissions in their local area. Therefore, they are uniquely placed to make a real impact on emissions within their area. Following the success of the second Council Climate Action Scorecards last year, Climate Emergency UK is looking to create the third edition of the Action Scorecards. We know that councils are listening to the Scorecards results and taking more effective action. The average score in the 2025 Action Scorecards increased by 7 percent points. Now, we’re looking for volunteers to help us create the 2027 Action Scorecards, tracking the progress that has been made, and scoring all UK councils on their climate action.
Our workshops, alongside the practical experience of assessing local climate action, are designed to help you develop your knowledge, skills and experience around local climate policy and action.
Your assessments will help create the 2027 Council Climate Action Scorecards - helping your community and other people around the UK understand how well councils are tackling the climate crisis, the progress that has been made, who’s doing well and what is possible. During the programme you will be part of a cohort of people (maximum 50) who share your passion for environmental justice and local action.
The Training Programme will help you understand:
- The powers local authorities have to tackle the climate crisis.
- The actions local authorities are taking to tackle the climate crisis.
- What good council climate action looks like.
We will also have workshops from educational, policy and campaigning experts to give you a strong foundation in local climate action. Last year this included speakers from the Climate Change Committee, Lancaster City Council and Friends of the Earth. Those on the training programme will be able to manage their time but must be able to make the mandatory dates, listed below. Both cohorts will be 4 weeks and have the exact same programme of events. While these will be part of the training it will be up to you to make the session, although some of these sessions will be recorded. A full schedule will be sent out 1 week before the training starts.

Who is this Programme for?
In order to apply you must be:
- Aged over 18
- Able to commit to approx. 15-20 hours a week for four weeks
- Based anywhere in the UK
- Have reliable internet access and access to a computer
- You do not need to have previous environmental related experience or a relevant degree.
Note: We will not accept current Councillors or Officers. Parish/Town councillors or staff are welcome to apply.
Other than that, anyone can apply to be on this programme. We are particularly looking for people who:
- Are passionate about tackling climate change and sustainability
- Have an interest in supporting climate action in their local communities
- Are interested in a career in environmental policy or advocacy (or just enjoy this as a hobby!)
- Able to use Google Docs and SLACK, although you will receive training in both.
Each cohort will be limited to 50 places and we expect to fill the programme. Your acceptance onto the programme will be confirmed once you have attended the Induction

How to apply
We are running two volunteer cohorts. The Local Climate Policy Programme is available to both cohorts. If you are a new volunteer we recommend joining Cohort 1.
Following the success of the 2025 Council Climate Action Scorecards last year, Climate Emergency UK is looking to create the third edition of the Action Scorecards. Analysing council climate action only becomes valuable if you track the progress that has been made. We need your help to create the 2027 Action Scorecards and score councils on their actual climate action.
Why are we doing this?
We’re in a climate crisis, and local councils have the power and influence over around 30% of emissions in their local area. Councils are uniquely placed to make a real impact on emissions within their area. We know that councils are listening to the Scorecards results and taking more effective action. The average score in the 2025 Action Scorecards increased by 7 percent points. The Scorecards are a campaigning tool that residents can use to hold their council to account on their climate action, and lobby for specific, targeted change. We have also found that over 34% of UK councils are using the Scorecards to improve (using the Scorecards in council meetings or on their website and in climate action plans). Finally, this UK wide assessment will demonstrate where the UK and devolved governments need to provide more support to local authorities in order for them to take even further action.
How can you help?
We need at least 200 volunteers to pull this project off! You can help by volunteering to score councils on each of the 7 sections of our Action Scorecards. This year volunteers will be marking specific sections for councils (e.g. marking only all the Transport questions for the councils you are marking). You will score councils in your particular section by researching publicly available information on councils’ websites and relevant strategies. Training and guides will be made available to you to help in the process.
Scoring one council on one section will take approx. 2 hrs (though the more you do, the quicker you will become). It’s best if you are able to work from a laptop or a computer with good internet, as you will need to be able to access council websites and our online scoring system.
We’d like you to mark at least 10 councils on one of the seven sections over a period of 4 weeks. This equates to a total of 20 hours of volunteering over 4 weeks, roughly 5 hours a week, but this can be done at your own pace.
What experience do I need?
We will provide training so you don’t need any experience. If you have previous experience of working in or campaigning at a local council level that is a bonus, but not necessary.
What will I gain?
This is a great opportunity to understand how local councils work, as well as understanding local government policy on Climate Action. This is a good chance to improve your research and analytical skills too. By helping with this project you will be making a real contribution to the fight against the climate crisis.
What we need from you:

- You will score those councils via our online scoring system. What you mark will be audited to ensure the system is fair and accurate.

By providing an excellent visitor experience as a member of the Living History team, you will be bringing wetlands throughout history, and the history of the mere to life by delivering key messages about how important wetlands are for food, materials, medicine and livelihoods. This encourages our visitors to make the most of their visit to Martin Mere, and to understand and support our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people.
This role involves:
- Undertaking talks and hands-on activities in our Mere Tun Village about how useful wetlands are. Specifically about villagers settling next to wetlands 1000 years ago to provide them with food, materials for shelter, medicine and items to trade.
- Undertaking talks in our Mere Tun Village about the history of the mere and development of Martin Mere
- Assisting with activities when Mere Tun Village is open as a working village to our visitors in school holidays and weekends.
- Communicating WWT conservation messages and membership during talks about how people in places such as Madagascar still make settlements next to wetlands for their livelihoods.
