East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

Do you have experience organising events, or would you like to get some? Our past fundraising activities have included pub quizzes, a photography competition and exhibition, sale of locally made jeans and more. If you’re buzzing with ideas of how to raise money or are keen to get stuck in and help to make some events happen, we would love to hear from you.

The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. We understand that people may not have a lot of time to give, so we want to find volunteers who could give us one-off or ongoing strategic advice and support.

East London Waterworks Park is an exciting and ambitious project that offers many rewarding opportunities for our volunteers. You will have a significant impact on the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds and forest schools. 

By leading fundraising projects that explore how diverse professionals (architects, ecologists, web developers, community researchers etc.) collaborate to shape community infrastructure, volunteers will directly contribute to the development of a park that truly reflects the needs and desires of the local community. 

Without funding we won’t be able to make it happen. Your input will help us craft experiences that inspire, educate, and engage our service users, stakeholders, funders, and the general public, ultimately driving support for the park's mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability. So you will be directly contributing to the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds.

Volunteer Role: Employability Programme Manager

What You’ll Do

As our Employability Programme Manager, you will:

• Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of our employability workshops and 1:1 support

• Support volunteers delivering CV sessions, interview prep, job search guidance, and workplace skills

• Ensure all employability activities reflect our trauma‑informed, person‑centred values

• Develop session plans, resources, and simple tools to support consistent, high‑quality delivery

• Work closely with the Volunteer Programme Manager and Head of Service Delivery to schedule sessions and match volunteers to roles

• Build relationships with participants, helping them feel welcomed, supported, and motivated

• Track attendance, progress, and outcomes to support our monitoring and evaluation

• Gather feedback from volunteers and participants to continuously improve the programme

This is a leadership role where your work will directly shape the confidence, skills, and job readiness of adults across East London.

The Vacancy:

Emersons Green Village Hall is seeking to recruit a Chair of Trustees to build upon our success to date, provide visionary strategic leadership and steer the charity through its next stage of development and growth.

This is a voluntary role with a minimum time commitment of approximately five hours per month. We have up to six scheduled bi-monthly Board Meetings, which last up to two hours and are usually held on Tuesday evenings. In addition we have Committee Meetings to deal with finances and operations, plus our AGM.  Meetings are held via Microsoft Teams or in-person at Emersons Green Village Hall. 

The Role of the Chair:

The Chair’s role is to lead the Board of Trustees, providing strategic oversight and governance, and creating a positive and inclusive culture. The Chair will be actively leading on shaping the future of our Hall, developing the business, and setting its strategic direction to ensure financial viability for the future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a wide variety of skills who can be an enabler to oversee the charity and build on the progress we have made to date. Ideally you will have experience of being a Trustee. We are also looking for individuals with leadership, management, and organisational development skills. Experience in the voluntary sector, community facilities or running community projects would also be beneficial.

As a ‘hands-on’ Chair, you will bring your experience and skills to the role and will be supported by the Trustee Board, plus an established staff team including the Hall and Events Manager, plus the Treasurer and Company Secretary.

Emersons Green Village Hall is a charity which runs the community centre with the same name. Our aim is to be at the heart of the community. We run our own events and activities and hire out our rooms.

We are seeking several volunteers fior administrative support committed Trustees across this dynamic Trust's activities in creating historical town maps and atlases.  Roles include managing online meetings, contributing to operations including sales, events, marketing, basic book keeping and all other ways of being useful to the growing needs of the Trust.

We are on an ambitious path to increase the rate of publication, develop a strong educational outreach platform, and embed our maps in the communities of the towns we publish. Trustees are mainly senior academics and others committed to education and urban history and all have a passion for cartography. We currently have no employees

HSR UK is a small but ambitious charity dedicated to strengthening the role of health and social care research in policy and practice. We bring together researchers, service leaders, clinicians, policymakers, patient partners and others, helping research to drive real improvement in the NHS and social care. 

We are now seeking three new Trustees to join our friendly and committed Board and help shape the next phase of our development. 

About HSR UK 

HSR UK is the collective voice for health services and social care research in the UK. 
We: 

• Connect and convene researchers, policymakers, managers, clinicians, and lived‑experience partners.
• Support the use of high‑quality research in practice and policy. 
• Influence national agendas to help health and social care research thrive. 

We have around 40 organisational members, run an annual conference attracting 350+ delegates, and lead work on mentoring, special interest groups, and major thematic projects such as equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and workforce research. We are hosted by the Nuffield Trust but we are a separate organisation.

What the role involves 

As a Trustee, you will contribute to: 

• Setting and monitoring HSR UK’s strategic direction 
• Ensuring strong governance and compliance 
• Approving major decisions, policies, and annual accounts 
• Considering and managing organisational risk 
• Actively participating in board meetings and reading papers in advance 
• Leading on a specific area of work (e.g., finance, conferences, events, governance), depending on your interests and skills 

Practical details 

Time commitment 

• Around ½–1 day per month 
• Five 90‑minute board meetings per year (online) plus our AGM in the autumn
• Option to join sub‑committees (1–2 meetings per year) 
• Opportunity to help shape our annual conference and attend the conference in person

Location 

• Meetings are online (MS Teams); our annual conference rotates around UK universities (2026: University of Manchester) 

Remuneration 

• This is a voluntary role.  We reimburse trustee out of pocket expenses, including travel to meetings and conference attendance 

Term 

• Three years, renewable for up to three consecutive terms
