The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

Please note you need to be over 18 for this role.

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example:

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
• You’ll need to be aged 18+ to volunteer in this role. If you’re aged 16-17, you’ll need to be supervised by a friend, family member, or guardian over the age of 18 in order to carry out any fundraising activity.

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

You will need to complete 2 days of face to face training in addition to elearning for this role. You will be expected to deliver 80 hours of event per year including event first aid, fundraising and community engagement. Weekly sessions currently take place in Huddersfield on Mondays to keep your training up to date, further training nights across Kirklees and Calderdale are currently being looked into.

Interviews will take place on Monday evenings throughout February and March.

Independent Visitor: Mentor a young person for 2 – 4 hours per month for at least 1 year.

An Independent Visitor is usually an adult volunteer who befriends a young person in care and develops a long-term friendship with them. This often involves helping young people develop new interests, skills and hobbies or going on outings such as going to the cinema, bowling or just walking in the park.
The aim is to provide support, confidence, and fun experiences outside of the young person’s daily environment. If you are looking for a rewarding role with an organisation that makes a difference in young people’s lives, we want to hear from you.

About the role:
•Visit a young person monthly and become a trusted adult friend to them.
•Build a trusting, consistent and positive relationship with the child.
•Provide a child with the opportunity to try new activities (e.g., cinema, bowling, museums, nature walks, or simply having a chat) and spend time with them away from their placement. 
•Provide visit reports and feedback after visits to help us monitor and improve the service.

Overview:

The Administrator will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the organisation. This position involves handling administrative tasks, maintaining records, supporting communications, and assisting with event coordination. The App Officer designs, creates and maintains (including updates) a volunteer management app with bespoke features for Make a Smile as per specifications and requests made by Trustees.

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.

What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

A Community Research volunteer gets involved in several tasks throughout the course of a research study. These tasks will vary based on project, timing, and the skillset of the volunteer:

● Drafting project planning documents and carrying out background research

● Carrying out face-to-face or telephone surveys and interviews

● Leading focus groups, webinar discussions and activities. Writing up notes from these sessions

● Carrying out audits of service information available online

● Logging surveys and inputting data

● Analysing data/feedback

● Using databases and spreadsheets to create charts and pivot tables

● Contributing to the production of engaging and accessible research reports

● Participating in working groups, planning and debrief sessions

● Producing infographic summary reports, highlighting, and simplifying the key findings from our report.

● Attend meetings with externals partners to discuss, promote and showcase the study/report

This role includes face-to-face engagement which requires travel across the borough, sometimes up to 3 hours to a location.

Pedal Away is a community-based cycling scheme that enables people to ride, regardless of their age, ability or cycling experience. We have Pedal Away Cycle Hubs at a limited number of locations which will allow you to realise your passion for all things two-wheels. Our Pedal Away rides are pitched at a level so that anyone can join in no matter how long it's been since you were last on a two-wheeled bike. They are social rides aimed to turn people from beginner to independent and confident cyclist, away from traffic and are led by experienced ride leaders.

Service Delivery Volunteer

Last year 786,574 people were offered information and support from Victim Support. As a Service Delivery Volunteer you will provide specialist support services for people affected by crime.

 Volunteering with Victim Support in Staffordshire

As a Volunteer in Staffordshire your role will include:

· Making a real impact by helping people affected by crime feel safer, supported, and empowered.

· Building valuable skills and confidence through specialist training in safeguarding, risk assessment, and supporting victims of crime.

· Representing Victim Support at local events and community activities, raising awareness and connecting with people who need help.

· Networking with local organisations and community partners, gaining insight into multi-agency working and referral pathways.

What do we ask of you?

In order to join us as a Service Delivery Volunteer, you must:

· Be 18 years of age or over.

· Be able to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week, for at least 12 months.

· Undertake training over a 10-week period – this includes five virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.

· Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.

· Be able to provide two satisfactory references.

· Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

Expenses

· All Victim Support volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering, including travel and lunch.

We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development.

West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and Cyprus. Each squadron is supported by a committee of trustees who oversee governance, fundraising, and community engagement, helping ensure incredible opportunities for young people.

What’s involved

Being a trustee is a simple but highly impactful way to support your local squadron:

• Attend quarterly meetings (around two hours each)
• Discuss finances, fundraising, priorities, and squadron activities
• Take part in decisions, especially financial and strategic matters
• Support events, networking, or community initiatives

Typical commitment: 8-12 hours per year.

Who we’re looking for

Trustees come from all walks of life. No military, youth work, or charity experience is required. Trustees actively participate in meetings and decisions – there’s no obligation to take on an elected role.

Eligibility:

• Must be 20 years or older.
• Must have lived in the UK for 3 or more years.

Useful skills (optional but welcomed):

• Finance, budgeting, or business management
• Fundraising or grant writing
• Event planning or project management
• Governance, committee, or leadership experience
• Local networks or community connections

We particularly welcome:

• Applicants from under-represented communities.
• Younger adults. Only 1% of trustees in the UK are under 30 (Charity Commission and Pro Bono Economics 2025), and we particularly encourage applications from people wanting to grow their skills while making a real impact.
• People who are motivated to learn and contribute, not just bring experience.

Support you’ll receive

You will be fully supported, with guidance and resources at every level, so you can contribute confidently:

• Locally, you’ll work with your squadron Chair, Treasurer and Commander.
• At Wing level, the Wing Chair, Treasurer and Secretary provide guidance, templates and advice.
• Nationally, RAF Air Cadets trustees are part of a broader governance community with access to resources and information.
