AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy Team provides complex casework and legal interventions in the areas of housing and homelessness, Asylum Support, Benefits, No Recourse to Public Funds and Community Care. AFRIL also offers community activities to asylum seekers living in Lewisham.

AFRIL’s ESOL teacher volunteers will work with AFRIL’s Community Activities Coordinator to provide friendly, structured and professional ESOL and English Conversation activities to participants.

Air Ambulances UK (AAUK) is the national charity supporting the lifesaving work of the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities, helping them to save even more lives every day. Air ambulance charities deliver advanced pre-hospital critical care to patients who have suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries or medical emergencies, bringing the Emergency Department directly to the scene. 

We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly Fundraising Volunteers to support a series of exciting upcoming events in partnership with national organisations, including a major fundraising week this summer. 

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a public-facing fundraising initiative, helping to raise awareness and vital funds for air ambulance charities across the UK. 

You’ll engage with members of the public in busy locations, helping to highlight the importance of supporting air ambulance charities, which rely almost entirely on donations to continue their vital work. 

What will you be doing? 

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you may be involved in: 

• Speaking to members of the public about the work of air ambulance charities 

• Encouraging donations (including cashless options) 

• Handing out leaflets and raising awareness 

• Supporting fun, simple engagement activities (e.g. games, quizzes, giveaways) 

• Helping deliver family-friendly activities 

• Creating a welcoming, positive presence at events 

• Representing AAUK and the wider air ambulance sector 

• Most importantly – having fun while supporting a lifesaving cause

Day Centre Assistant & Companion

What You’ll Do

Support staff and clients at the Mabel Churn Centre to create a warm, welcoming environment for older people living with dementia. You’ll help with social activities and mealtimes to ensure the day runs smoothly.

You will:

· Chat and engage with clients to build a friendly atmosphere

· Encourage and support participation in activities (e.g. arts, music)

· Set up tables and help serve meals and drinks

· Clear tables and keep the space clean and tidy

· Communicate with staff about client needs or concerns

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Dance Fit Class Volunteer to support our weekly Thursday afternoon classes (1pm-3pm), held at St Faith’s Community Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations). 

About Dance Fit

Dance Fit is a fun way to stay active through music and movement. Sessions are designed to improve fitness, flexibility and confidence in a supportive and enjoyable environment. Routines and exercises can be performed standing or seated, making the sessions accessible for everyone. The group learns simple routines that can also be practised at home, and each July learners have the opportunity to perform to friends and family at our Summer Show!

About The Role 

This role is ideal for someone who loves to move. You’ll support our tutor in delivering inclusive and fun classes for a small group of adults with learning disabilities. Every class is an opportunity for the learners to express themselves freely, socialise with others and feel the benefits of physical activity on their wellbeing.

As a Dance Fit Class Volunteer at Stepping Stones, you will: 

• Assist the tutor in setting up and closing down the studio space

We're currently visiting Herne Hill Velodrome with Wheels For Wellbeing and we are looking for people who would be willing to participate alongside our learners.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with others. In Social Club you’ll support our tutor in encouraging learners to participate in a variety of fun activities which aim to nurture the supportive relationships between our learners and enhance their wellbeing, joy and sense of belonging.

We're looking for someone with a background in drama to support our tutor in delivering accessible and fun drama sessions for a small group of adults with learning disabilities. Each year, the group works towards a production which is performed at our end-of-year Summer Show, making this a fun, creative, and rewarding volunteering opportunity.

As a Drama Class Volunteer at Stepping Stones, you will:

• Encourage and support learners during rehearsals and performances
• Help with setting up props, costumes and resources for sessions
• Participate alongside learners where appropriate

We’re looking for a warm, British Sign Language Volunteer to provide in house support to Deaf women living in our refuge. This role is all about connection, inclusion and helping women feel fully involved in day to day life within the service. As a BSL Volunteer, you’ll support communication between service users and staff, help women engage in activities, and be a friendly, reassuring presence in the house.

What you will be doing

• Providing British Sign Language support to Deaf service users within the refuge
• Supporting women to take part in activities
• Helping women communicate their needs to staff
• Offering support with appointments, as and when needed

Your Role

As a Social Media & Digital Marketing Volunteer, your help will not only contribute to immediate outcomes such as increased event attendance and community engagement but also play a pivotal part in the organisation's larger mission of reducing loneliness among young adults and creating a lasting positive impact on their lives.

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.
