About Us

Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's leading charity dedicated to uniting for a life unlimited for everyone affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting over 11,000 people across the UK. We fund vital research, campaign for access to life-changing treatments, and provide support to people living with CF and their families. 

About the Role

Every year, incredible supporters across the UK raise funds for people affected by cystic fibrosis. This is a flexible, ongoing volunteer opportunity that can fit around your existing commitments. 

What You'll Be Doing

You could support us in a variety of ways, including:

• Attending fundraising events and representing Cystic Fibrosis Trust in your local area. 
• Thanking supporters and organisers, including giving a short speech if you're comfortable doing so. 
• Delivering and collecting fundraising materials and resources. 
• Collecting and returning collection tins and donation boxes securely.
• Sharing local knowledge and helping identify potential fundraising or partnership opportunities. 
• Providing occasional support to Community Fundraisers with local fundraising activities and events.

We recognise that every volunteer brings different strengths, experiences and interests, and aspects of the role can be tailored accordingly. 

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who:

• Are enthusiastic about supporting the work of Cystic Fibrosis Trust. 
• Enjoy meeting and communicating with a variety of people. 
• Have a friendly, positive and people-centred approach. 
• Feel comfortable working independently, while knowing support is available when needed. 
• Have basic IT skills and access to email and a phone. 
• Are willing and able to travel locally to support fundraising activities.

Experience in fundraising or volunteering is helpful but not essential. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of cystic fibrosis, either directly or through a family member, although this is not a requirement.

About this role

You will be vital to the work of our ecommerce hub helping to sort, quality check and monitor donated products from our corporate partners.

• Your role may include:
• sorting donated pallets of stock ready for sale
• quality checking products to sort the good from the bad
• scanning products to trade in, such as books and CDs
• helping to pack orders to go our shops
• helping keep our warehouse tidy and our stock system accurate
• When and where
• You will be in our Scope Ecommerce Hub. The hub is based at 19 to 20 Guide Street, Salford M50 1BX. We can be flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. Our hub opening times (Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm). We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more
   

Who we are looking for

We welcome anyone who is passionate about disability equality and willing to support our work! You must be over 18 years old. You will need to feel comfortable working in a large busy warehouse environment and be able to lift and carry items, although we have a forklift truck to assist with heavier items.

Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Other volunteers are interested in our training and development opportunities. Some people join us to meet new people and make friends. Sometimes people want to help a charity shop they like shopping in, while also getting a discount online!

Volunteering in our charity shops is a great way to look after your wellbeing, build confidence, and make a real impact.

You’ll be part of a friendly team, learning new skills while helping raise vital funds to support children with life‑shortening conditions and their families across Wales.

About our Neath Shop:

Our Neath shop is situated on Queen Street in the town's city centre, merely a two-minute stroll from both the bus and train stations.

It is one of our two outlet-style shops, famous in the town for its £1 section, where customers can snag an entire outfit for less than a fiver!

This stock is clearance stock from our other shops and is given a final opportunity in Neath to sell to maximise the most from all our donations.

Hannah leads a team of energetic staff and volunteers, and between them, turnover a huge amount of stock each week.

They make sure that customers have the best shopping experience and leave with a smile on their face.

Considerations:

Commitment:Our shops operate Monday-Saturday, 9am-4:45pm and we appreciate any time you can spare, but ideally at least 2 hours per week.

Shifts will be discussed during your informal chat.

Background checks: We will ask you to provide us with the details of two referees.

We are looking for a Volunteer Shop Assistants to assist in the running of WFRC’s retail shop to maximise sales of new and used goods that help us to generate vital funds to support the vital services that we provide for women and families. You will be providing invaluable help in the operation of our charity shop

Principal Responsibilities:
- To serve customers and record purchases on the cash register
- To work with staff and other volunteers to sort, steam, hang, ticket and size donated
clothing for sale in the shop
- To help keep the shop clean.
- To assist with shop displays.
- Provide information leaflets and signpost any enquiries for WFRC services
- Comply with WFRC relevant Policies and Procedures
- Wear personal identity badge whilst volunteering
- Represent the professional standards of the charity

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. We hold a prime position on the picturesque Church Street and from our little pink shop we raise lifesaving funds for Save The Children’s work both in the U.K. and abroad. As well as raising awareness on sustainable fashion and fashion climate activism, we’re a hub of excitement and passion!

Our Stoke Newington Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Our volunteer Fundraisers use their organisational and people skills, as well as creativity and a sense of fun, to raise vital funds for their local branch.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch can do a little differently, but it may include the following responsibilities, with potential for additional fundraising opportunities:

To assist our charity shop team(s) in raising the essential funds which allow us to continue supporting local children and their families.

Tasks & activities:

Supporting the day-to-day running of our charity shop, in which some of the activities may include:

• Handling and sorting donations
• Setting up attractive displays on the shop floor
• Providing friendly customer service on the till

Personal qualities & experience:

Previous experience of working in retail is useful, but not essential as full training will be provided.

For this role you will need to be:

• Friendly and enthusiastic
• Honest, reliable and have a willingness to learn

A growing NGO in Malawi, working across education, livelihoods, health and environmental sustainability, is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen its finance systems.

The organisation has grown significantly and now manages multiple donor funded projects, with annual income of over £1 million. QuickBooks has been introduced, but is not yet fully embedded, and many processes remain manual.

The volunteer will work with the Finance and Administration Manager, wider finance team and senior leadership to review current systems, identify priorities and support practical improvements.

Key areas of support may include QuickBooks, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, donor reporting, management accounts, internal controls, expenditure verification, audit readiness and mentoring.

This would suit a collaborative and adaptable finance professional who can balance a broad systems review with practical, hands on support.
