Walk the Plank is looking to welcome new Trustees to our Board. 

We're a Salford-based award-winning outdoor arts company with a 30+ year history of creating artistically ambitious work in public spaces, across the UK and internationally. As a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England, we connect with audiences in bold, unexpected ways, and we want our governance to reflect the people, places and ideas behind that work. 

We are looking for Trustees who will help Walk the Plank to grow, thrive and succeed, contributing to our processes and thinking, challenging us and supporting our strategic direction, working alongside our Board, Senior Management Team to help deliver our vision. 

We're interested in people with experience in the areas of digital innovation and artistic practice, though we're equally open to a broader range of skills and backgrounds. We're particularly keen to hear from individuals from the global majority, as part of our commitment to broadening representation and strengthening diverse perspectives within our governance.

What's involved 

• 4 Board meetings per year, held at Cobden Works or online 

• Approximate time commitment of 9 hours per year of meetings, plus reading / prep. Trustees are also encouraged to attend our annual Company Conference which happens once per year at Cobden Works, and to try to see some of our work each year.

• This is a voluntary role; any reasonable expenses are covered, and we can pay for access costs in addition, if required.

Marketing and Communications Volunteer

The Goal: Help us share our story with the world. You’ll be a creative voice for the Trust, helping our message reach and inspire action.

We’d love help with:

• Digital Content: Creating engaging posts for social media, newsletters, or our website.

• Designing Materials: Helping us make flyers, posters, or digital graphics that look great.

• Campaigning: Assisting with the launch of new campaigns to celebrate our impact.

What you bring:

• A creative eye and a knack for writing content that people want to read.

• Familiarity with social media or design tools (like Canva or Mailchimp).

• A passion for sharing the history and stories of the British Bengali community.

Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.

As a Group Coordinator, you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group reaches out to people affected by MS.

The role is varied, and will enable you to further develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.

We are open to role sharing offers.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

You'll be:

• overseeing the collection and delivery of collection boxes in different locations
• recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters
• researching local areas for collection box ‘hot spots’
• sharing fundraising ideas with other volunteers and putting these into practice 
• sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our collection box fundraising volunteers usually spend 1 to 2 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve; help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and employees, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
• Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
• Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
• Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
• Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
• Organising and chairing team meetings
• Acting as an ambassador for Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our branch team leader volunteers usually spend 10 to 15 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are available.

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Global Health Access Trust is looking for a Governance & Charity Administration Volunteer to help strengthen the records, policies and administrative foundations of an international charitable organisation working towards registration.

This opportunity would suit someone with governance, legal, charity administration or senior administrative experience who enjoys bringing order, accuracy and follow-through to important organisational work.

Global Health Access Trust (GHAT) develops, funds and coordinates defined projects that advance health, relieve illness and preserve life for the public benefit. Good governance, safeguarding, accountability and responsible stewardship sit at the centre of how that work is developed and delivered.

What you could contribute

• Help maintain governance policies, registers and organisational records
• Support preparation and organisation of governance documentation
• Help maintain accurate meeting records and action points
• Track agreed actions and follow-up
• Support orderly document management and version control
• Help ensure governance information is complete, current and easy to retrieve
• Work with the Trust team to strengthen practical administrative processes

About the Role

As our Finance Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of the team, helping ensure that CWV’s finances run smoothly and transparently. You’ll manage day-to-day bookkeeping, assist with budgeting and reporting, and support compliance with charity financial standards.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, Operations team, and external accountants to make sure every penny is accounted for — and that we can continue delivering essential programmes in our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping using QuickBooks 

• Record income, donations, and grant payments

• Create and process invoices, receipts, and staff expenses

• Reconcile bank accounts 

• Support preparation of management accounts and reports

• Assist with grant reporting and annual audit preparation

• Ensure compliance with charity finance policies and procedures

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in bookkeeping or finance administration

• Comfortable using accounting software and Excel

• Highly organised with great attention to detail

• Able to work independently and handle confidential information responsibly

• Passionate about supporting a small charity with a big heart

Desirable:

• Experience in the charity or voluntary sector

• Knowledge of restricted/unrestricted funds or Gift Aid

What you will be doing
Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:
Driving your own, or hired, vehicles.
Scheduling and collecting donations from individuals, businesses and
donation banks.
Delivering donations to shops, and sold items to customers.
Speaking with donors and colleagues and providing great customer
service.
Loading and unloading bags and boxes from the vehicle.
This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe
working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety
training to all volunteers.
The skills you need
We ask that you are reliable and on time for your volunteering
Full training and support is given for this role - no prior experience is
required
Happy to be part of a team and collaborate effectively with others
A valid full UK Drivers Licence
Willing to have an annual DVLA Licence check
