Main purpose of role:

Role Overview
Europia is looking for a Ukrainian-speaking volunteer to support community sessions for the Salford Central and Eastern European Health Navigators Project.
The project supports Central and Eastern European residents in Salford who may face language, digital or other barriers when accessing health and community services.
The volunteer will help welcome people, provide Ukrainian language support and help residents use digital services. They will work alongside Europia staff to make sessions welcoming and accessible.
What the Role Will Involve
Interpret between Ukrainian-speaking residents and Europia staff during community sessions.
Help Ukrainian-speaking residents communicate with Europia staff.
Clearly interpret information provided by Europia staff.
Translate short written information, messages and instructions between Ukrainian and English.

Can you spare 3 hours a week to make a difference to the lives of children? Home-Start Volunteers offer support, friendship and practical help to families.
We are looking for compassionate, non-judgemental and caring individuals to join our community of volunteers to share their parenting experiences and knowledge with families. Home-Start is one of the leading family support charities in the UK and Home-Start Warrington and Cheshire work in Northwich, Warrington and Winsford. Our volunteers provide a weekly, one-to-one home-visiting service. We help families from all backgrounds, with at least one child in the household under the age of 5 years, through their most challenging times.
Your role will be to offer support to a family you are matched with and support them in the way that they would like: this may include help with practical tasks such as getting out of the house, attending appointments, an extra pair of hands on a trip to the park or a playgroup, role-modelling how to play with children or helping to get organised. It could also involve empathising and supporting through emotional issues in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. All visits are a maximum of three hours, once per week and all take place Monday to Thursday, between 9am and 4pm (and only when our office is open).
Home Start also deliver targeted groups to support families, a place for families to connect, learn and play together. Volunteers support Home Start staff to deliver groups for families – from helping to set up/clear away, role-modelling playing with the children to parents and offering friendly emotional support to parents.
We will train you to Home Start Warrington and Cheshire standards of excellence. The training is free and is delivered by a combination of online modules and four, weekly, face to face sessions with one of our Family Support Coordinators.

As a Community Support Volunteer, you will complete face-to-face befriending activities with service users. You need to be able to travel around the locality in which you live to be able to do this. The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.
We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.
We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. As a Peer Support Volunteer you will have lived experience of mental health and support service users on a wide range of non-complex issues that can be easily and quickly resolved. This could be, for example, by empathising with potential clients about the difficulties that having a mental health problem can create, helping to set up the room, explaining the services that are on offer and how these can be accessed, putting people who are anxious at ease by welcoming them. What will you be doing?
As a Maintenance Volunteer you will help to maintain and improve CAT’s unique site. Built on the site of a disused Welsh quarry by a group of inspired volunteers, CAT’s site has a rich and fascinating past. For more than 50 years, CAT has been a place of experimentation, inspiration and learning, where sustainability is embedded into the buildings and landscape.
As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will join the Estates team in caring for and making improvements to the buildings, pathways and infrastructure that are used by staff, students and visitors.
This is a practical role, so previous experience and confidence using a variety of general-purpose tools is desirable. Training and direction will be provided within the Estates Team but a volunteer in this role will need to be proactive and be able to work as part of a volunteer team with minimal staff supervision. This is a perfect role for someone looking to gain practical experience and to build confidence as part of a busy team.
Key elements of the role:
- Open to long term residential volunteers only.
- Support the Estates team with maintenance and repair jobs around site in all weathers. These could include repairs to buildings, routine maintenance such as gutter clearance, monitoring CAT’s off-grid systems and general DIY tasks - Tasks will be uncomplicated and training will be provided.
- Work independently and part of a team on practical tasks.
- Preparation and clear down for practical short courses, Graduate School workshops and events.
- Organise and maintain tools and materials for use across site.
- Support CAT’s Estates team to care for CAT’s unique site.

Community sessions will run until March 2027.
The project will normally hold one community session each week.
Each session will last around three hours.
Volunteers will support agreed sessions as part of a rota.
The exact days, times and number of sessions will be agreed with each volunteer.

The project will be delivered across Salford. Sessions will take place at community venues, including:
Eccles Gateway, M30 0TU
Broughton Hub, M7 4BQ
Together Family Centre, M44 6GX
St Aidan’s Church, M7 3SE
Selected Salford libraries
Volunteers may support sessions at one or more venues, depending on their availability and the needs of the project.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who:
Speaks Polish and English.
Is friendly, patient and respectful.
Has good communication and listening skills.
Is comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds.
Can use basic websites, online forms and mobile phones.
Is willing to help people with simple digital tasks.
Can keep personal information private.
Is reliable and able to attend agreed sessions.
Is willing to learn and work as part of a team.
Previous volunteering, community work, language support or digital support experience would be helpful, but it is not essential.
Training and Support
Volunteers will receive:
An induction before starting.
Safeguarding training.
Training on professional boundaries.
Clear guidance about their role and responsibilities.
Structured supervision and support from Europia staff.
A Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Information about possible pathways towards Immigration Advice Authority Level 1 qualifications, where appropriate.

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.
We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.
We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.
New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support
