Role: Audit & Risk Committee Member

Location: London/remote

The Royal College of Pharmacy’s Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) is a sub-committee of the College’s Board of Trustees, established to provide independent oversight of risk management, internal controls, and audit processes.

While the day-to-day management of operational and financial risks is delegated to the College executive, the ARC supports the Board of Trustees to ensure that the College maintains robust systems of internal control, complies with legal and regulatory requirements, and appropriately manages strategic and operational risks.

This is a voluntary role with an estimated time commitment of one day per quarter. This includes attendance in person or by Teams at four meetings annually, plus reading and preparation time. Trustees serve for a term of up to three years with an option for appointment for a further two terms.

Principal duties as a committee member:

• Propose the remit for the audit for approval by the Trustees

• Review, with the auditors, the outcome of the financial audit and any management response – and report to the Trustees

• Assist the Trustees in ensuring the College’s policies and procedures for ensuring legal compliance in all areas are implemented

• Advise the Trustees on the appointment and management of internal auditors or compliance management

• Review the risk register and assess the scope and effectiveness of the systems designed to identify, assess, manage and monitor significant risks and report to the Trustees.

We are seeking applicants with the following skills, knowledge and experience:

• Senior management or director-level experience, ideally as a finance director, company secretary, director of governance, or chief executive

• Risk management and mitigation, including experience in complex organisational environments

• Understanding the distinct role of trustees and operational/executive functions

• Charity or not-for-profit governance

• Risk oversight and compliance monitoring

We are a Manchester based dementia support charity, looking to recruit a team of Volunteer Minibus Escorts, to accompany our drivers onboard our two Together Dementia Support minibuses - helping to pick-up and drop-off our service users before and after groups.

Drivers and Escorts are a key part of our service user experience – you’ll be their first and last contact with Together Dementia Support each week, so we rely on our escorst  provide a to be positive, supportive and enjoyable experience.

Volunteer Escorts will board the minibus with our drivers in the morning (at the Kath Locke Centre, M15 5DD) ready to pick service users up and transport them to the group, which will run for 2 hours. Depending on your availability, once the group has ended there is an option to finish your volunteering shift, or support members on the minibus for the return journey – finishing back at the Kath Locke Centre. We may also ask you to begin your volunteering shift at the group, and then support on the return journey.

You’ll be responsible for our service users boarding and disembark the minibus safely, and engaging with them throughout the journey. You also be expected to stay in good contact with our service users and carers around pick-up times, delays or issues. You’ll also stay in good contact with our office and the group Dementia Support Co-ordinator around any issues or problems.

All volunteers are also expected to adhere to the following Together Dementia Support policies – Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality Diversity & Inclusion, and any other policies deemed relevant.

Minibus Escorts will recieve comprehensive Induction Training, and Moving & Handling Training. You will also have to understake a DBS Check, which we cover the cost for.

We want enthusiastic people to help us support our networks youth programme and build a youth strong team

Young people play a crucial role in helping us realise this mission. As a volunteer with our youth teams, you’ll be trained to provide our young people with both life skills and lifesaving skills – all while having great fun!

You’ll be working with our brilliant Badgers (aged 7-10) or creative Cadets (aged 11-18). You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running fun activities – such as outdoor events, summer camps and mountain adventures – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.

We’ll offer you the chance to become a fully-fledged Youth Leader, which will mean completing extra courses in First Aid or Adventure to broaden your capacity and experience.

What you will contribute

Provide medical consultations and treatment for our Crew, including regular check-ups, routine health screenings, and emergency care when needed

Support the health education to our Crew and host country partners by presenting on applicable health related topics

Ensure the health and safety of the Crew on an ongoing basis, in collaboration with the Captain

Work with and supervise the Hospital Physician(s) to oversee the general health of Ward patients and pre-operative patients

Review patients in Screening, Outpatients, and Rehabilitation as the opportunity arises

Actively maintain and improve the standards of care for our patients

Provide medical direction and advice for the Palliative Care Team

For This Role, You Will Need

M.D. or D.O. with current unrestricted license or recognized medical qualification in your country of origin

Two year’s post-graduate clinical experience required, with a specialization in and actively practicing the past year in General Practice, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine

Fluent in verbal and written communication skills in English

Practices the highest standards of fiscal control

Computer skills, especially in Word and Excel

If the Crew Physician sails with the ship: Successful completion of Basic Training in accordance with STCW A-VI/1-1 to 1-4, as required per Maritime Law
