The Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH) is a national award winning charity providing faith and culturally sensitive support services to young people in the UK. Its core service is a free and confidential helpline open seven days a week via telephone, email, internet chat and WhatsApp. MYH is a dynamic organisation that puts service to its clients at the heart of everything that it does.

Mission: To provide a range of culturally informed services to improve the mental wellbeing of young people.

Role Description

As part of our ongoing Board development, we welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives who share our values and commitment to our mission. While all applications are encouraged, we would particularly value experience in governance, strategic oversight, and organisational development at this stage of the charity’s journey.

As part of MYH’s ongoing Board development and succession planning, we are particularly seeking to appoint Trustees in two priority areas:

1. Future Chair of Trustees

We are seeking an experienced strategic leader who may be interested in progressing into the role of Chair of Trustees within the next 9–12 months, following a planned leadership transition. Previous Chair, Board, Non-Executive, or senior leadership experience would be highly valuable.

2. Governance and Organisational Oversight 

We are also looking to strengthen Board capability in charity governance, legal and regulatory compliance, safeguarding, risk management, HR oversight, and 

organisational policy development.

As MYH continues through a period of growth and organisational development, these 

appointments will play an important role in supporting the charity’s long-term sustainability, accountability, and impact.

Key Responsibilities 

As a Trustee of MYH, you will work collectively with the Board to provide effective governance, strategic direction, and oversight to support the charity’s mission and long-term sustainability. Key responsibilities include: 

• Contributing to the strategic direction and overall governance of the charity 

• Ensuring the charity operates in line with its charitable objectives, governing documents, and legal responsibilities 

• Supporting effective decision-making by providing independent judgement, constructive challenge, and professional insight 

• Promoting accountability, transparency, and ethical leadership across the organisation 

• Overseeing the charity’s financial sustainability, including monitoring resources, budgets, and fundraising opportunities 

• Supporting the identification and management of organisational risks, including safeguarding responsibilities where appropriate 

• Acting in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times 

  • Championing the charity’s mission, values, and impact with stakeholders and the wider community

• Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the leadership team to support organisational growth and development 

  • Attending Board meetings, contributing to discussions, and participating in relevant sub-groups or activities where required 

  • Supporting good governance practices, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation

Commitment 

Trustees are expected to commit 4-8 hours of work during each month to complete any 

necessary Trustee tasks agreed by the Board to support a rapidly growing Muslim Youth 

Helpline.

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children. We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions.

We offer short term home visits, counselling sessions, practical & emotional one to one support, domestic violence groups, awareness raising workshops and drop in or chat groups to help women facing crisises or challenging situations.

Purpose

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator, you will play an important role in supporting group sessions and workshops. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and comfortable environment where everyone feels valued and able to participate.

Your responsibilities may include engaging with group members through conversation, welcoming participants as they arrive, and supporting the smooth running of sessions by helping with set-up and clear-up tasks. You may also assist with taking attendance at the start of each session.

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help look after Dorothy House donation boxes in their local area. These small but mighty boxes are found in community shops and buildings, and help to raise thousands of pounds each year. With your help we can make sure they’re always in the right places and well looked after.

This is a simple, flexible role that makes a big difference close to home.

Income from our shop collection boxes raises over £35,000 every year, and with help, this figure could be much higher. It is also an amazing way to create lasting relationships with businesses situated in the heart of our community - businesses that help promote other valuable Dorothy House news and events. Please help us keep our collection boxes visible so we can continue to raise vital funds for end-of-life care.

You’ll volunteer in your own local area, choosing routes and venues that suit you, with support from the Dorothy House team whenever you need it.

What you will be doing

• Checking in on donation boxes in local shops, cafés, and community venues (small collection boxes you often see beside shop tills).
• Swapping full boxes for empty ones and depositing the cash using our secure local systems
• Spotting new places where a box could be placed
• Building light, friendly relationships with staff and thanking them for their support
• Sharing Dorothy House leaflets or information when appropriate

Who We Are Looking For:

It Takes A Village Crystal Palace CIC is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in fundraising strategy, income generation, and donor engagement. The ideal person will have experience identifying diverse funding streams, developing long-term sustainability plans, and advising grassroots or community-led organisations.

Project Brief:

It Takes A Village has grown organically over the last four years, supporting hundreds of families in the Crystal Palace area. Until now, the organisation has relied on small donations from service users and one-off grants. To secure its future, the team is now looking to design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that will sustain and grow its core services.

This project will include:

• Identifying and evaluating new funding opportunities, including grants but particularly partnerships, corporate sponsorships, and community-based fundraising
• Designing a strategic fundraising plan that creates a clear roadmap towards financial resilience and long-term sustainability
• Mentoring and guiding senior leadership team and their advisory panel of community volunteers, empowering them to take ownership of future fundraising

It Takes A Village is an inclusive postnatal peer support community run by local mother and Breastfeeding Peer Supporter Emily Harper, and supported by expert practitioners. Their mission is to nurture the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of families from birth and beyond. The organisation provides restorative mum and baby meet-ups, provides community infant feeding support, workshops, and inclusive family events across South East London.

Your impact:

This role is vital in helping It Takes A Village strengthen its financial foundations, safeguard its services, and continue providing free, inclusive support to families feeling anxious, exhausted or isolated due to parenting. By building a reliable and strategic fundraising model, It Takes A Village can continue to empower parents, reduce isolation, and create a supportive local network that boosts community wellbeing.

Or you might find yourself in a more specialist role such as an Ecommerce Volunteer, a Shift Lead Volunteer, or even a Stock Specialist Volunteer.

Your time will make a huge difference. We estimate one four-hour shift will, on average, provide enough income to enable Oxfam to provide life-saving handwashing facilities for 81 people.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help with street and shop front collections in their local area. These collections raise vital funds for Dorothy House, and your time and enthusiasm will help make sure they run smoothly and feel welcoming to the public.

This is a simple, social role that has a big impact on the care we can provide.

What you will be doing

• Taking part in organised street or shop front collections in your community
• Helping to find new places where collections could take place
• Being a warm, friendly presence for members of the public
• Making sure collection buckets are handled safely and returned as instructed

Client Support Volunteer - Lancashire

Information about the role

You’ll support people coming to Shelter for housing, benefit or debt help. This might involve giving them updates on their case, sharing information about local services, and supporting them with form filling.

Location: Shelter Lancashire Hub, Blackburn Central Library, Town Hall Street, Blackburn. Volunteering activity could be in the Hub or in our community settings.

Availability: Volunteering will take place within our Hub service hours of Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

Range of activities may include

• Communicating with clients by phone and email to share updates on their case or to gather information from them.
• Assisting clients with form filling, paperwork and applications around housing, benefits and debt.
• Supporting clients with digital skills, navigating online systems and forms.
• Researching and updating contact details for other local services and providing clients with this information.
• Providing some emotional support to clients, by letting them share their experiences and listening to them.

This role fights the housing emergency by supporting people who are struggling with housing and bringing them one step closer to a safe home.

• You will be provided with an induction into your role, access to relevant learning and a copy of our volunteer handbook.
• The role, including learning and communications, are flexible, so can be tailored so they best suit your needs and preferences.
• You will be able to claim reasonable volunteering expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy. Where financial circumstances would be a barrier to volunteering, we may be able to offer these funds in advance.
• You will be able to access our volunteer support package, including our colleague assistance programme and Shelter’s network of mental health first aiders.
