We fundraise so we can run services and support for people with MS, and fund our groundbreaking research programme that aims to stop MS altogether. As a Fundraising Events Volunteer, you’ll help us deliver fun and exciting fundraising events. Your responsibilities can include helping with preparation and setting up, registration, meeting and greeting people, marshalling, and stewarding and supporting our fundraising events participants. In this role you’ll develop your communication, organisation and team working skills. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Participating in fundraising events throughout the year, with some involvement in preparations on the day
• Cheering on our team at one of our cheer points to give them a much needed boost
• Meeting and greeting, marshalling or stewarding
• Helping at registration desk for larger events
• Promoting activities on the day
• Cash handling

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

This opportunity will be at both Crook and Durham so volunteers need to be willing to volunteer at both sites.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.

As a Communications Volunteer you’ll play a key role in promoting your group to people in your area affected by MS, and helping them feel connected. You could be editing newsletters, responding to information requests, or developing engaging content for social media — depending on what the group needs. 

In this role you’ll develop your writing skills, and gain experience of communicating across a range of digital channels. Most importantly you’ll be helping us engage with lots of people and get the word out to people with MS about support to help them live their lives to the full.

• Writing and editing newsletters and promotional materials in line with brand guidelines 
• Updating group information resources 
• Supporting the group’s shared responsibility for designing and delivering services and activities

Volunteering in our shops offers a variety of exciting tasks. From sorting, steaming, and pricing donations to spotting hidden gems, you'll roll up your sleeves in the backroom and assist on the shop floor. Engaging with customers is key, whether you're serving with a smile, working the till or helping donors complete Gift Aid forms.

Creating a warm, friendly and inviting space is just as important. You'll help design eye-catching window displays, keep the space tidy, and use your creativity to ensure everything looks its best, encouraging customers to return.

No special skills are needed as we’ll show you what to do, and we provide all the training you’ll need. But if you have any experience or particular interest, tell us; it may be helpful.

As a trustee, you will provide high level oversight, advise, challenge, and support EHA's leadership, and help us meet our legal obligations, protect tenant wellbeing, and maintain long-term sustainability, including through the regulatory improvement work set out below.

About Easy Housing Association and the Current Regulatory Position

Easy Housing Association (EHA) is a registered provider of social housing, regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). In July 2025, RSH issued an Enforcement Notice concluding that EHA had not met the Governance and Financial Viability Standard and required EHA to commission an independent appraisal and deliver a board-approved action plan to address the issues identified.

As part of this process, RSH has made statutory appointments to EHA's Board to strengthen governance capacity, and EHA is separately recruiting an Interim Manager with statutory powers under the Enforcement Notice. EHA is committed to full transparency with RSH and to delivering the improvements required.

We are recruiting additional Non-Executive Directors as part of this strengthening of the Board. This is a genuine opportunity to bring specialist expertise to an organisation actively working through a defined improvement journey, with the backing and support of an engaged, RSH-appointed board and executive team. Candidates should be comfortable operating in a regulated, enforcement environment and bring the independence and rigour that context requires.

Time commitment

Trustees are expected to attend monthly board meetings (approximately 2.5 hours online) and commit an additional 4 hours per month to board-related duties, including reading papers, joining sub-committees, or contributing expertise.

Non‑Executive Status: This is a non‑executive, governance‑only role. The postholder provides oversight and assurance but does not participate in operational management.

Purpose: Provide financial oversight, long‑term viability assurance, and scrutiny of financial controls, modelling, and risk.

This role sits at the centre of EHA's response to the Governance and Financial Viability Standard findings and is one of the most critical appointments to the Board at this time.

Core Responsibilities:

· Oversee long‑term financial planning, stress testing, and reforecasting

· Provide assurance on financial viability and regulatory compliance

· Scrutinise budgets, cashflow, and financial controls

· Support treasury management and value‑for‑money oversight

· Strengthen financial risk management

Essential Skills:

· Senior finance experience in housing or regulated sectors

· Strong understanding of long‑term financial modelling

· Experience with RSH Financial Viability Standard

Desirable:

· Accountancy qualification

We are strengthening our Board of Trustees at an important moment for the organisation, and are seeking experienced, strategic individuals to join us across four specialist areas: supported housing operations, finance and viability, governance and charity law, and health & safety/compliance.

As a trustee, you will provide high level oversight, advise, challenge, and support EHA's leadership, and help us meet our legal obligations, protect tenant wellbeing, and maintain long-term sustainability, including through the regulatory improvement work set out below.

About Easy Housing Association and the Current Regulatory Position

Easy Housing Association (EHA) is a registered provider of social housing, regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). In July 2025, RSH issued an Enforcement Notice concluding that EHA had not met the Governance and Financial Viability Standard and required EHA to commission an independent appraisal and deliver a board-approved action plan to address the issues identified.

As part of this process, RSH has made statutory appointments to EHA's Board to strengthen governance capacity, and EHA is separately recruiting an Interim Manager with statutory powers under the Enforcement Notice. EHA is committed to full transparency with RSH and to delivering the improvements required.

We are recruiting additional Non-Executive Directors as part of this strengthening of the Board. This is a genuine opportunity to bring specialist expertise to an organisation actively working through a defined improvement journey, with the backing and support of an engaged, RSH-appointed board and executive team. Candidates should be comfortable operating in a regulated, enforcement environment and bring the independence and rigour that context requires.

Time commitment

Trustees are expected to attend monthly board meetings (approximately 2.5 hours online) and commit an additional 4 hours per month to board-related duties, including reading papers, joining sub-committees, or contributing expertise.

1. NED — Supported Housing Specialist

Non‑Executive Status: This is a non‑executive, governance‑only role. The postholder provides oversight and assurance but does not participate in operational management.

Purpose: Provide specialist oversight of supported housing operations, leasing models, compliance, and contract management to ensure EHA meets regulatory expectations and delivers safe, high‑quality services.

This role is particularly important as EHA strengthens operational assurance and service delivery oversight as part of its regulatory improvement plan.

Core Responsibilities:

· Provide assurance on supported housing operations, voids, occupancy, and service delivery

· Advise on leasing models, contract structures, and local authority commissioning

· Strengthen oversight of repairs, compliance, and resident experience

· Support development of operational KPIs and performance monitoring

· Provide scrutiny of operational risks and mitigations

Essential Skills:

· Senior experience in supported housing operations

· Knowledge of leasing models, compliance, and contract management

· Understanding of local authority commissioning

· Ability to challenge constructively and independently

Desirable:

· Experience with supported needs, or specialist accommodation

We value volunteer development, and as part of this role your can develop your skills further by training to become a till user alongside your regular shop volunteer responsibilities, or progressing into a Key volunteer, a role which includes opening, running, and closing the shop in the absence of the manager.

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service, helping create a wonderful shopping experience.
• Receiving donated items from the public, thanking them for their support.
• Sorting, steaming and preparing donations for sale.
• Helping to display stock in eye-catching and exciting ways.
• Keeping the shop floor clean, safe and tidy.
• Talking to customers about Sense and the work we do.

Key responsibilities: Till volunteer

Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.
