About The Pinnacle Centre
The Pinnacle Centre is a third space in Birmingham helping young adults grow holistically. We work across three domains: personal development, sports and wellbeing, and community and belonging.
Vision 2030 is where that work is heading. We're building a multi-purpose centre in Birmingham — sports facilities, co-working space, an auditorium and a café — designed as a home for young adults to train, work, learn and gather.
Role Summary
You own Pinnacle's volunteer function end to end — how people join us, how they're inducted, how they're deployed, and why they stay. Almost everything Pinnacle delivers is delivered by volunteers, so this is not an admin role. When a session runs smoothly with the right people in the room, that's you. When someone gives us six months and leaves feeling it mattered, that's you too.
Key tasks
What we're looking for
What we have to offer
● Real ownership of a function, not a task list — you will shape how it works, not just execute someone else's plan.
● A seat in a team building towards a 2030 horizon, with a clear line of sight to the leadership team.
● Access to our network of founders, professionals, entrepreneurs and investors through Pinnacle's events programme.
● Training, mentoring and the opportunity to build and lead a team of your own as the organisation grows.
● The reward of building something in your city that will outlast all of us.
Please note: this is currently a volunteer position. Reasonable expenses for travel, equipment and refreshments are reimbursed in line with our Expenses Policy. As Pinnacle grows and funding allows, we expect several senior roles to move to paid positions, and volunteers already in post will be considered first

By becoming a volunteer governor at a further education (FE) or sixth form college, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of an organisation that transforms lives through education and skills—while strengthening your own governance experience and leadership credentials.
Why it’s relevant to professionals like you

Apply your corporate skills in a leadership role
Gain board-level experience and enhance your CV
Contribute to local economic growth and social mobility
Support a vital sector during a time of transformation

As part of a governing board, you’ll:
Set strategic direction: help define the college’s mission and goals
Hold leadership to account: monitor finances, performance, and outcomes
Ensure governance excellence: make decisions in the best interests of learners and stakeholders
Act as a charity trustee: ensure financial sustainability and legal compliance
You’ll also engage with senior leaders and external stakeholders, including local employers, regulators, and community partners.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome professionals from a broad range of sectors, including but not limited to:
Finance, Audit & Risk
HR, People & Culture
Strategy, Transformation & Operations
Technology, AI & Digital
Legal, Governance & Compliance

Time commitment
Expect to give approximately 1–2 days per month, including:
Attending board and committee meetings (in person or remote)
Reading papers and preparing questions
Participating in training and occasional college visits
The time commitment is manageable alongside a full-time role—and many employers actively support staff to take on governance roles as part of their professional development.
Where you’ll be needed
Some colleges offer remote governance and meetings take place online. This may suit you best, or we may suggest a role where you volunteer on a hybrid basis at a college within a reasonable distance from you. We are recruiting governors for colleges across England, with new opportunities added regularly.
What’s in it for you?
This role offers the opportunity to:

We are seeking skilled leadership to continue to support us to deliver excellence and are, therefore, looking for an experienced non-executive, with demonstrable experience of supporting organisations at Board level.

The Swadhinata Trust is embarking on a journey of significant growth and transformation. Having recently refreshed our purpose, mission, and brand, we are now ready for our next big leap: transitioning from a grassroots volunteer organisation to a scalable charity with paid staff and expanded reach.
To reach our full potential, we need 'roll-up-your-sleeves' leaders who are eager to help us transform. This isn’t just about giving advice from the sidelines; it’s about being the engine of our transformation. Whether you are an expert in your field or looking to develop new skills, joining us as a collaborative partner offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible, lasting impact on our journey.
How Can You Help
We are looking for both professionals and enthusiasts eager to use their skills to help us transform. Whether you can offer 2 hours a week or 10, your expertise will be a vital part of reaching our big goals. You don’t need to be a veteran in your field; we value a 'roll-up-your-sleeves' attitude and a commitment to our mission just as much as a CV.
Fundraising and Partnerships Volunteer
The Goal: Help us build the relationships that fuel our work. You’ll be part of the team that finds the resources we need to grow.

Drafting Bids: Helping us write compelling stories and applications for funding.
Relationship Building: Supporting our communications with current donors to keep them updated on our success.
What you bring:
A gift for storytelling and clear, persuasive writing.
A friendly, professional manner and a love for networking.
Persistence and a "hunter" mindset for finding new opportunities.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

We're recruiting on behalf of our partners at MINDSET.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER (MINDSET Charity)
Shape the Training. Shape the Standards. Shape the Future.
MINDSET is a bold new preventative mental‑fitness charity for teenage boys and men in London — launching this November. We’re building a modern, high‑energy, stigma‑free space where men learn the habits, systems, and psychological tools to stay strong long before crisis hits.
To make this mission real, we need a Training & Development Volunteer who can help us build the backbone of our organisation: the training systems that prepare every volunteer to deliver our programmes safely, confidently, and with impact.
If you’re passionate about coaching, personal development, and empowering others to grow — this is your moment.
THE ROLE: TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER (Volunteer) - HYBRID
We’re looking for someone who can design and deliver simple, effective, modern training experiences for our volunteer team. You’ll help create the learning culture that defines MINDSET — energetic, practical, stigma‑free, and focused on real‑world skills.
You’ll lead on:
Designing micro‑training modules for new volunteers (Motivational Interviewing basics, boundaries, communication, safeguarding awareness).
Creating onboarding training sessions that feel modern, inspiring, and easy to follow.
Developing short digital learning resources (slides, guides, videos, checklists).
Supporting volunteers as they learn our 12‑week Mental Fitness Programme.
Helping build a culture of growth, confidence, and continuous improvement.
Ensuring volunteers understand the difference between coaching and therapy.
Embedding the MINDSET ethos into every training experience.
Your work will directly shape how every volunteer shows up — how they coach, how they communicate, how they support boys and men through our programme.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who:
Loves breaking down ideas into simple, practical steps.
Has experience in coaching, personal development, youth work, or training.
Enjoys creating engaging learning materials.
Can bring energy and positivity into group sessions.
Understands the importance of boundaries and safe practice.
Wants to help build a charity from the ground up.
Can commit a few hours a week between now and November.
If you’re the kind of person who naturally lifts others up and helps them perform at their best, you’ll thrive here.
WHY JOIN MINDSET?
1. Because you’ll shape how every volunteer learns and grows.
Your training will define the quality, confidence, and impact of our entire team.
2. Because our culture is modern, bold, and inspiring.
Think Gymshark, Huel, MyProtein — not a traditional charity training manual.
3. Because your work will change lives.
Every volunteer you train will help boys and men build habits that keep them strong.
4. Because you’ll be part of a founding team.
Your training systems will influence how MINDSET grows for years to come.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
Real experience designing training for a fast‑moving charity start‑up.
A chance to shape the learning culture of a brand‑new organisation.
A supportive, passionate team who value your ideas.
Flexible volunteering you can fit around your life.
The satisfaction of knowing your work is helping prevent silent suffering.
