We are looking for football coach volunteers to help lead and deliver our weekly football sessions to support residents to rebuild body and mind.

Session is currently being run in a park a 5 minute walk from Ditchmore Lane, Stevenage 

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays 4 to 5pm

Project Resilience provides easily accessible opportunities for our hostel residents to take part in a variety of social and sporting activities to boost overall health and wellbeing.

We are looking for football coach volunteers to help lead and deliver our weekly football sessions to support residents to rebuild body and mind. 

Your responsibilities will include:

· Plan, prepare and deliver engaging weekly football sessions

· Helping with set up/tidying of any equipment 

· Managing and maintaining focus of residents to support their fitness progress and development

· Working closely with Project Resilience Coordinator, maintaining open lines of communication and feedback 

· Assist with any related events such as organising tournaments or community football events 

This role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to inspire and mentor vulnerable residents, contributing to their health and personal growth. Your commitment to excellence in coaching and resident engagement will not only enhance your professional skills but also make a significant impact on the community.

You will need:

· Previous experience in coaching/running football sessions 

· Being able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative

· Being empathetic and understanding to the needs of vulnerable residents who may have differing fitness skills and levels 

· Some sort of formal sports training - doesn’t have to be specifically for football but we would like to see some level of education e.g. Level 2 gym instructor plus 

What we will provide:

· A full induction to the role and site will be provided

· You will be required to undertake mandatory e-learning and a menu of optional training will be made available 

· Ongoing supervision and support from your line manager

· Access to organisational events and celebrations throughout the year 

 Please note: You will be required to undergo a DBS check and we will need 2 x references.

You will support us to reach some of the most isolated adults in your community to reduce their feelings of loneliness, build friendships and provide support for mental wellbeing. You will support people to relight a spark to continue a hobby, interest or encourage them to explore and participate in new social activities.

You will support individuals to rebuild their lives beyond crisis.

Loneliness and isolation can affect anyone in life, whatever their age or family situation. Official data from the Office for National Statistics shows that rates of depression doubled during the COVID pandemic, and one of the major causes of depression is isolation.

• To develop and promote a positive relationship with your befriendee
• To encourage your befriendee to engage in social activities and support them in doing so whilst building their confidence
• To support your befriendee in developing their goals and social skills

Are you a fluent Farsi speaker with a passion for helping others? We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist women in improving their English language skills. Improving someone’s understanding and spoken English language, will allow individuals to communicate and connect with people in their local community, widen their network of friendships and relationships, and provide people opportunity to improve their employability skills. 

We are looking for a face-to-face volunteer for a minimum of 1 hour per week who is available between hours 11am – 2.30pm Monday-Friday!

What you will be doing

• To support individuals who are not confident with spoken English to develop their reading, writing and conversational skills through one-to-one sessions.
• Agree a mutual agreeable time and frequency that works for both parties
• Engage in conversation, allowing the person to feel supported and comfortable to practice speaking English Preparing and delivering sessions independently including setting work and assessing
• To keep records of conversations and update the support worker on progress of sessions.

Role Overview

As a Talent Enablement professional at QuilomboUK, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of training programmes that enhance employee skills and organisational development. For many of the children in our programme, OOEF is the first time they have ever seen a live musician or held an instrument. We bring guest musicians into school to perform for them and help them try instruments from our own collection. It is one of our most popular sessions — and one of the most memorable things you are likely to do as a volunteer. Any instrument welcome. Any genre. Amateur or professional. We will sort the instruments — you just need to bring yourself and your music.

About the role

Orchestra of Everything Foundation (OOEF) delivers free, immersive music education to around 250 children aged 7–11 at St Michael's Junior School in Twerton and Whiteway — two schools in nationally ranked deprived communities. Our impact is off the scale: school leaders tell us that 86% of children show improved attitudes to learning across all subjects, and we have been instrumental in a 39% reduction in pupil suspensions. Our work has caught the attention of the Department for Education, and Bath Spa University now incorporates our model into teacher training.

You might visit once or come back regularly. You might play solo, with a colleague, or as part of an ensemble. Sessions are supervised alongside OOEF staff and volunteers throughout — you will never be alone with children. The children's reaction — curiosity, delight, the moment a sound comes out of an instrument for the first time — is something volunteers consistently describe as one of the most joyful experiences of their lives.

What you'll bring

• The ability to play an instrument or sing to a standard you are comfortable demonstrating

• Warmth and confidence engaging with groups of primary-school-age children

• A love of sharing music — the enthusiasm is as important as the skill

Time commitment

Guest musician sessions are fully ad hoc — we confirm dates that suit you. A typical visit is around 1-2 hours. Some musicians come individually; others come as part of ensembles, university music societies or via employer volunteering programmes. There is no minimum commitment — one visit is genuinely valuable.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Unfortunately, thousands of cats each year are abandoned or have strayed and rely on charities like Cats Protection for help. Becoming a trap, neuter and return (TNR) volunteer is one way you can make a real difference to cats in your local area. Our TNR volunteers help reduce the number of feral cats by raising awareness of our TNR programmes, setting humane traps to safely capture cats, taking them to local vets to be neutered, and hopefully returning them back to their territory. Local TNR programmes are crucial, as feral and abandoned cats present a huge challenge for communities across the UK.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Trapping cats using humane methods
• Taking cats to local vets to be neutered 
• Returning cats to their territory or finding a suitable alternative

The role might also include:

• Regular feeding of feral colonies
• Promoting neutering by building relationships with farmers, land owners and local businesses
• Liaising with vets to promote and arrange neutering 

Time expectation 

This is a flexible role and the hours will vary depending on the number of cats identified for specific TNR campaigns. Our current TNR volunteers spend about 2 to 3 hours per week in this role which can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

As a Bank Volunteer Event Assistant, you will support One YMCA at a variety of fundraising, community and engagement events throughout the year. This flexible role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, working as part of a team and helping to create welcoming, well-organised events that promote One YMCA's mission. No two events are the same, and your tasks will vary depending on the nature of the event.

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/ Activities

• Assist with event setup and pack-down, including arranging tables, signage, and equipment.
• Welcome and register attendees, providing information and directions as needed.
• Support fundraising activities such as raffles, collections, and merchandise sales.

Walking Group Volunteers help service users build confidence, improve wellbeing, and reduce social isolation by supporting them to take part in regular group walks in their local community. The role also includes light shopping support—helping individuals access local shops, build independence, and feel more comfortable navigating their community.

• Encourage conversation, connection, and gentle physical activity in a supportive and friendly environment, helping service users feel safe, included, and confident during walks.
