About this role

You will be vital to the work of our ecommerce hub helping to sort, quality check and monitor donated products from our corporate partners.

• Your role may include:
• sorting donated pallets of stock ready for sale
• quality checking products to sort the good from the bad
• scanning products to trade in, such as books and CDs
• helping to pack orders to go our shops
• helping keep our warehouse tidy and our stock system accurate

• You will be in our Scope Ecommerce Hub. The hub is based at 19 to 20 Guide Street, Salford M50 1BX. We can be flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. Our hub opening times (Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm). We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more
   

Who we are looking for

We welcome anyone who is passionate about disability equality and willing to support our work! You must be over 18 years old. You will need to feel comfortable working in a large busy warehouse environment and be able to lift and carry items, although we have a forklift truck to assist with heavier items.

Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Other volunteers are interested in our training and development opportunities. Some people join us to meet new people and make friends. Sometimes people want to help a charity shop they like shopping in, while also getting a discount online!

Volunteering at Scope
Scope is a disability equality charity providing practical information, emotional support and campaigning for a fairer society. As a volunteer in our warehouse, you’ll help raise vital funds for our work towards everyday equality for disabled people. You will make a real difference to the lives of disabled people and their families.

The Position

We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.

The role will include:

• Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis

• Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them

• Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting

• Supporting the design of new projects

• Supporting with proposal writing

• Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team

• Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies

• Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies

You should be able to:

• Professionally communicate in English (verbally and in writing)

• Read, comprehend, interpret, summarise and follow proposal guidelines

• Work to tight deadlines with flexibility and a problem-solving attitude;

• Conduct thorough, high-quality, independent research

• Work both independently and as part of a team

The ideal candidate will have:

• Working knowledge of project management techniques such as LFA

• Knowledge of and experience with grant-giving bodies and other external funding sources (e.g. European Commission)

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language
• Be inclusive and welcoming to people of all religious faiths and none, referring people to other faith communities as appropriate
• Working alongside support staff, volunteers & local agencies
• Maintaining records of support and feeding back concerns about Resident welfare to Staff/Line Manager.
• Attend regular volunteer team meetings
• Being proactive in seeking spiritual and emotional support for your own benefit as this is a challenging role.

Additional activities could include:

• Facilitating group work for example: Retreat Programme, Bible Study, prayer or Mental Health Support.
• Welcoming new Residents by phone or in person
• Leading or helping with Chaplaincy lead events: Easter/Christmas activities, Remembrance Services

Training Support:

• A full induction to the service and specific site will be provided
• A one day ‘Chaplaincy Essentials’ training, plus a menu of additional training will be made available
• Online training: Safeguarding (Adults & Young People), Fire Awareness, Manual Handling
• Ongoing support and regular 1:1 meetings with your line-manager
• Team meetings and social events

You will need 2 x references and a DBS (we will apply for and fund this). 

Volunteers are an essential part of our team, making sure that clients are able to  access the right service. Our Reception Volunteer will welcome clients and visitors at our office in Deptford. You will also deal with basic enquiries (in person, over the phone or by email), assess what support clients need and help them access the right service.

Our Volunteer team is integral to the smooth running of LRMN. Without them our advisors wouldn’t be able to provide life changing support to the people who access our services. 

Our Volunteer Receptionist will be the first person that clients will talk to so it is essential that we offer a  safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space and give them the right information about the services we offer. Given the demand that we face, volunteers help us do that. 

What activities will you be involved in? 

As part of our volunteer team, you will work with staff and fellow volunteers to: 

• Welcome clients to our office and Advocacy Drop-In Service, speaking with them to understand their needs in a professional and compassionate manner
   

• Respond to queries from clients and members of the public via phone and email
   

• Support clients to complete our online referral form
   

• Help clients and referrers understand the services we offer and how to access them
   

• Respond to new referrals and upload them onto our case management system
   

• Contact clients to book appointments and follow up on referrals
   

• Take messages for staff and volunteers and ensure they are passed on promptly
   

• Log incoming mail and post outgoing mail for staff and volunteers
   

• Help gather feedback from clients to support service improvement
   

• Undertake other administrative tasks as required

As you become more experienced, you may be involved in giving basic advice, providing  support letters and other duties.

Is there induction and training? 

Yes, we provide a comprehensive induction to all new volunteers. This covers roles and  responsibilities, safeguarding, record keeping and use of our client management system  (Advice Pro).

You will be provided with the training needed to perform the role and will have the opportunity to join training with the whole LRMN team.

What commitment do you need to make? 

We ask volunteers to commit to volunteering at least 4 hours (9.30am -1.30pm) for at least six months.

If you have space in your home and heart, for a guide dog mum who will be bringing the next generation of guide dogs in the world, then this could be the role for you! A role where you can care and nurture for a guide dog mum and plenty of little puppies when they arrive. 

This role is available in areas of Berkshire, South Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Providing a loving home for a guide dog mum who will be at least 12 months old, for around six years whilst they are in the breeding programme (with the option to re-home after this, once the guide dog mum retires at around 7 years-old.) 
• Giving a guide dog mum the care and support that our canine companions need, like feeding and grooming.
• Creating a safe environment for the guide dog mum when they are giving birth within your home and helping with the birth of future guide dogs, which usually happens once a year. (You don’t need any previous experience of breeding or having dogs – we have expert staff who will help you!) 
• Providing care and support for the newborn puppies for at least 6 weeks while they are still in the nest, including socialising them to the new sounds and first-time experiences in your home.

Can I care for a guide dog mum? 

If you want to care for a guide dog mum, here's what we ideally look for:

• A loving home with a secure garden.
• Access to a car, to support with any appointments needed for the guide dog mum.
• Live within an hour’s drive of the National Centre in Leamington Spa.

Guide dog mums can happily live with other dogs or children, however we wouldn’t place them with a male dog that has not been neutered. To determine whether you are suitable, we will conduct a home visit as part of the application process.

Training and support

Our volunteers also receive lots of support from their volunteer managers to help them implement the training modules, as well as managing the birth of new-born puppies. If you have questions about the training requirements, we can answer these at your interview along with any other support or accessibility needs you may have.

Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll make sure we pay any pre-agreed expenses related to the litter or your volunteering with us, including veterinary costs, food costs or any specialist breeding equipment.  All you may need to buy is a bed and grooming equipment.

Minimum age of volunteer: 18.

To lead, motivate and encourage the volunteers at each foodbank session and ensure every person visiting a foodbank session receives a friendly welcome and is treated with compassion, respect and dignity

Organise each foodbank session and ensure each is run efficiently and to a high standard in accordance with the Trussell franchise and Arden Foodbank policies and procedures

Lead a short team briefing with volunteers at the beginning of each foodbank session and a short session review at the end

Ensure that the distribution centre is a safe place for all clients and volunteers, that safeguarding procedures are understood and implemented, and that client confidentiality is respected

Deal appropriately with incidents, unforeseen events, or any other issues

Monitor health and safety at each foodbank session and record accidents and near misses

Review stock levels at the end of each foodbank session and complete a restock order to replace food and other items given out at that session

Girls in Sport: Fundraising Trustee

Voluntary role: This is an unpaid trustee position, with reasonable expenses reimbursed where agreed.

Role Specification

This is an opportunity to join us at a pivotal moment: helping to shape the next chapter of a niche, sports for social impact initiative that works to deliver meaningful change to communities, and provides a safe space for many girls who are exposed to risks associated with their gender.  

You will join the Trustee Board in leading tranformative development from a successful grassroots pilot, towards a road-map that reinforces robust, cross-cutting outcomes and sustainability.  

As we move through 2026, we are seeking an experienced fundraising and grants practitioner who can bring sector insight, constructive challenge and strategic oversight to the Board. 

1. Introduction from the Board

Girls in Sport is a niche but ambitious sport-for-social-impact charity using locally led programmes to challenge gender inequality and create safer, stronger opportunities for girls in hard-to-reach communities. Our Secretariat is in the UK, and we are currently working with communities in Sierra Leone.

We are entering a transformative phase: moving from a grassroots initiative with proven impact into a stronger regional model with the potential to reach more girls, families and communities. To support that growth, we are building out our Trustee Board with more practitioners across the charity, fundraising and social impact sectors. 

You will help direct and provide leadership at Board level in guiding us to unlock pathways to funding that is both restricted and unrestricted, strengthen financial sustainability, and support the responsible growth of our impact in Sierra Leone and other communities where our model can be replicated.  It is very imprtant that you recognise fluctuating capacity challenges associated with scaling from start-up in the non-profit space.

We believe sport can be a powerful conduit for social change from the grassroots. 3. Job Description: Fundraising Trustee

Role Purpose:

The Fundraising Trustee will bring experienced fundraising insight to the Board, helping Girls in Sport strengthen its income-generation strategy, funding readiness and long-term sustainability. This is a strategic governance role, not an operational fundraising post. Working with fellow trustees and the programme lead, you will provide advice, constructive challenge and sector expertise to help us build a credible, diversified funding approach across trusts and foundations, institutional grants, high-value partnerships, major donors and aligned corporate supporters.

The right person will help professionalise our fundraising governance, strengthen Board capability and support good decision-making, while recognising that delivery capacity must be proportionate to an unpaid trustee commitment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Governance: Act as a member of the Board of Trustees, sharing legal and financial responsibility for the charity’s management.

·Fundraising Strategy: Advise on fundraising strategy and priorities, with particular focus on trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate partnerships and institutional opportunities.

·Income Generation Oversight: Champion fundraising at Board level, support informed decision-making and help identify opportunities, introductions or partnerships where appropriate.

• Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to fundraising regulations and best practices, including the Code of Fundraising Practice.

·Ambassadorship: Act as a thoughtful ambassador for the charity, helping raise its profile and credibility within relevant philanthropic, charity and social impact networks.

4. Person Specification

Essential:

• Commitment to the charity’s mission and values regarding gender equality, sustainable development, and youth empowerment.
• Robust knowledge and experience of fundraising (e.g., trusts, corporates, or major donors).
• Strategic thinker, able to balance long-term planning with practical advice.
• Understanding of the legal duties and responsibilities of charity trusteeship.

Volunteer I&A Telephone Support Assistant

Make a real difference with just a friendly voice and good listening skills.

We’re looking for warm, organised volunteers to help answer calls to our Information & Advice (I&A) service. You’ll take basic enquiry details, log them onto our system, and help ensure residents who are 18+  get the support they need. We would ask for a commitment of a few hours a week.

What you’ll do

• Answer incoming calls in a calm, friendly and professional way
• Take clear messages and note down enquiry details
• Log information onto our CRM system (Salesforce)
• Keep all client information confidential
• Follow simple call‑handling guidance
• Flag urgent concerns to a member of staff
• Support small admin tasks linked to the service
• Join occasional team meetings or training sessions

What You’ll Do

Support a small group of older people aged 65+ to become more active and improve their wellbeing. You'll facilitate discussions, encourage participation, and help the group work towards shared goals during a 12-week programme.

Sorting Room Volunteer

Do you enjoy organising, spotting quality items and bringing order to chaos? Join our behind-the-scenes sorting team!

We are looking for volunteers to help process donated items and prepare quality stock for our charity shop. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys sorting, organising and has a good eye for detail.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play an important role in helping donated items reach the shop floor ready for sale.

Tasks may include:

• Sorting through donated clothing, books, toys and household items
• Checking quality and carrying out quality control
• Identifying valuable or desirable brands
• Pricing items ready for sale
• Organising stock in the sorting room
• Preparing donations for the shop floor
• Helping keep the sorting area tidy and efficient

We’re looking for someone who:

• Enjoys organising and practical tasks
• Has good attention to detail
• Has an eye for quality and presentation
• Has brand awareness (desirable, but not essential)
• Is reliable and able to work independently
• Enjoys being part of a friendly team

Time commitment

• Shifts are usually 10am–1pm or 1pm–4pm

Job Description: Club Welfare / Safeguarding Officer

Role Purpose

The Club Welfare Officer ensures Kenningwell United Women’s Football Club provides a safe, inclusive, and compliant environment. You will lead the administration of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and safeguard the wellbeing of all members.

Key Responsibilities

• DBS Management: Act as the lead administrator for all club DBS checks.
• Compliance Tracking: Maintain secure, up-to-date records of coaching staff qualifications.
• Policy Enforcement: Implement and promote FA safeguarding policies across the club.
• Primary Contact: Act as the trusted point of contact for safety or compliance concerns.
• Committee Reporting: Provide regular compliance updates to the Club Committee.

Skills & Requirements

• Organisation: Strong administrative skills to manage confidential data.
• Communication: Ability to speak honestly and empathetically with staff.
• Commitment: Approximately 6 hours per month of flexible, remote volunteering.
