Every year, young people in our community face the frightening reality of having nowhere safe to stay. By becoming a Volunteer Nightstop Host, you can provide a warm welcome, a safe place to sleep, and the breathing space a young person needs while longer-term support is put in place.

About Us

Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation works with young people aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build an independent and positive future.

Our services include:

• Safe, emergency accommodation through our Nightstop community hosting scheme.
• Family and school mediation to help prevent relationship breakdown.
• Homelessness prevention through education, life skills workshops and crisis support.

About Nightstop

Nightstop provides emergency accommodation in the homes of trained and approved volunteer hosts. Rather than spending the night on the streets or in unsafe situations, young people are offered a temporary, safe place to stay while our team works to find appropriate longer-term accommodation and support.

As a Volunteer Nightstop Host, you'll never be working alone. Our experienced team provides ongoing guidance and support throughout every placement.

What You'll Do

As a Nightstop Host, you'll:

• Provide a clean, safe and private bedroom for a young person needing emergency overnight accommodation.
• Offer an evening meal, breakfast and a packed lunch.
• Give access to bathroom facilities and laundry if needed.
• Stay in regular contact with the Nightstop team before, during and after placements.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while providing a welcoming environment.

Placements are short-term and arranged around your availability.

Training and Support

We'll make sure you feel confident before welcoming your first guest.

The Faith Hope & Enterprise Company Ltd (FHE) is an innovative registered charity operating across Derby City, Amber Valley, and the Derbyshire Dales. Our mission is to provide high-quality supported housing and bespoke mentorship to individuals facing severe social exclusion. We walk alongside those recovering from addiction, navigating mental health challenges, adjusting to life after offending, or rebuilding after general homelessness.

Operating from our base in Mackworth, Derby, we run a network of shared houses and self-contained flats which we either own or lease from private landlords. We deliver highly tailored Personal Development Plans to give our residents the practical life skills, confidence, and community networks they need to transition successfully into fully independent living.

The Role

 FHE is entering an exciting period of strategic development. We are looking to appoint new Trustees to join our friendly, dedicated Board.

As a Trustee, you will ensure that the charity remains financially resilient, legally compliant, and true to its core values of trust, respect, and kindness. Working closely with our Chief Executive and the executive team, you will help shape our future housing strategy, strengthen our local partnerships, and maximize the social impact of our enterprise model.

Who We Are Looking For

 We welcome applications from individuals who share our passion for tackling social exclusion and homelessness. To complement the existing skills on our Board, we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background or professional qualification in any of the following fields:

• Social Housing & Property Management: Experience in residential lettings, property maintenance, or estate management to advise on our housing stock.
• Finance & Accounting: Fully or part-qualified accountants who can provide oversight of budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasting.
• Legal, Risk & Compliance: Expertise in charity law, employment law, health & safety, or housing regulations.
• Health & Social Care/Addiction Recovery: Insights from the statutory or voluntary sectors to help guide our holistic support frameworks.

Prior experience as a trustee is not essential. We are fully committed to diversifying our board and warmly welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of the challenges our residents face. Comprehensive induction and peer mentoring will be provided.

Time Commitment

 Meetings: 4 to 6 formal evening Board meetings per year, held in Derby.

• Work: One annual strategy full-day review, plus occasional involvement based on your professional background.
• Ad-hoc Support: Occasional advisory support to the executive team via email or phone.

Art plays a valuable role in mental wellbeing with research showing that crafting, regardless of the medium you use can boost your mood, self-confidence and reduce stress overall. Taking part in art-based activities increases our resilience and engages us in the here and now. You will be supporting people to express their emotions, provide a time for people to relax and feel proud of their final art products!

We are recruiting for a volunteer to support and facilitate an art and craft group.

What you will be doing

• To prepare arts and craft sessions, involving individuals in the planning process where possible

Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to customers.
• Provide great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience.
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public.
• Processing sales and serving on the till.
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives.
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community.
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
• Following health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

Do you enjoy speaking to people and working with computers? Are you organised? You could support our Talk and Support team to run our award winning befriending groups by matching blind and partially sighted people from our waiting list into our telephone befriending groups. You would be helping people to get into one of our groups as quickly as possible and helping to end the isolation of sight loss.

We are looking for someone who is available one day each week who is comfortable using computers and computer based telephony systems and who is familiar with Microsoft Office 365.

You will support us to reach some of the most isolated adults in your community to reduce their feelings of loneliness, build friendships and provide support for mental wellbeing. You will support people to relight a spark to continue a hobby, interest or encourage them to explore and participate in new social activities.

You will support individuals to rebuild their lives beyond crisis.

Loneliness and isolation can affect anyone in life, whatever their age or family situation. Official data from the Office for National Statistics shows that rates of depression doubled during the COVID pandemic, and one of the major causes of depression is isolation.

• To develop and promote a positive relationship with your befriendee
• To encourage your befriendee to engage in social activities and support them in doing so whilst building their confidence

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Digital Marketing & Video Content Volunteer to strengthen OBI's online presence by creating engaging digital campaigns and compelling video content. The ideal candidate is creative, self-motivated, and experienced in both digital marketing and video editing, with a passion for using storytelling to drive social impact.
This is a fully remote volunteer position offering the opportunity to contribute to meaningful community development while building an international nonprofit portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.
• Create engaging social media content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Edit short-form and long-form videos highlighting OBI's programs, events, and impact stories.

Car drivers needed to help with transporting our members to and from medical appointments, shopping trips, day centres, social events, etc.. Vehicle and fuel provided. Our Dial-a-Ride service is targeted towards people who would struggle to use public transport, whether that's due to medical issues, special education needs, or being elderly or frail.

Walking Group Volunteers help service users build confidence, improve wellbeing, and reduce social isolation by supporting them to take part in regular group walks in their local community. The role also includes light shopping support—helping individuals access local shops, build independence, and feel more comfortable navigating their community.

What you will be doing

• Encourage conversation, connection, and gentle physical activity in a supportive and friendly environment, helping service users feel safe, included, and confident during walks.
• Create an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere where service users can build social skills, connect with others, and increase self esteem.
• Provide light, practical support with shopping trips, such as visiting local shops before or after walks.
• Help service users plan small shopping tasks (e.g., picking up essentials).
• Lead or co lead regular walking sessions with service users in local parks, streets, and community areas.
• Encourage independence while offering reassurance and support with navigating shops, queues, and payment if needed.
• Assist service users in becoming more familiar with their neighbourhood, including shops, parks, cafes, and community spaces
• Help identify opportunities to take part in local activities that promote independence and wellbeing.
