Join Us as Treasurer – Help Build Financial Sustainability for Life-Saving LGBTQI+ Support

Naz and Matt Foundation is looking for an experienced Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and help secure the future of our life-saving work supporting LGBTQI+ individuals from religious and culturally conservative backgrounds.

Since 2014, we've provided vital support to thousands of LGBTQI+ individuals facing family rejection, honour-based abuse, and threats because of their sexuality or gender identity. As we continue to receive unprecedented demand for our services, we need a skilled financial leader to help us build long-term sustainability and navigate our next chapter with confidence.

This is a unique opportunity to use your financial expertise to protect and strengthen a small charity doing essential frontline work – work that literally saves lives.

Who We Support
Our services support LGBTQI+ individuals - often experiencing rejection, abuse, or pressure to conform - from families where religion or culture plays a significant role. We also support parents who are struggling to accept their LGBTQI+ children.

As Treasurer, you’ll be helping to safeguard the future of this vital work by ensuring we remain financially sound, compliant and well-equipped to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Lead the Board in its financial responsibilities, ensuring good financial governance and control

• Act as the main point of contact on financial matters between the Board, the CEO, and our external accountants

• Help set, review and monitor the annual budget

Oversight and Governance

• Work with the CEO and external accountants to oversee the preparation of management accounts, annual financial statements, and reporting to the Charity Commission

• Support the preparation of accounts for our annual independent examination

• Present financial updates at quarterly Board meetings in an accessible, transparent way

Risk and Compliance

• Ensure financial risks are appropriately identified and managed

• Monitor cash flow and reserves policy

• Ensure compliance with SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) and Charity Commission requirements where applicable

Person Specification

• Demonstrable experience of managing finances or acting as Treasurer for a small charity or nonprofit

• Strong understanding of charity accounting and financial reporting requirements in the UK

• Familiarity with working alongside external accountants or independent examiners

• Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial audiences

• We are lived experience charity, and welcome applicants who have experience of:

About Naz and Matt Foundation
Naz and Matt Foundation was founded in 2014 after the tragic loss of Naz (Dr Nazim Mahmood), who took his own life two days after his religious family confronted him about his sexuality. Since then, we’ve supported thousands of individuals and families, delivered hundreds of public talks, spoken in Parliament, worked with central government, and with police, schools, and media, and campaigned tirelessly for acceptance, love and understanding.

Trustee Opportunity at Citizens Advice
Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire is seeking new trustees to help shape the future of our high-performing advice charity.

With offices in Grantham, Spalding and Stamford, plus outreach centres across the region, we support a population of 225,000 people. Last year, we helped 14,000 clients with 60,000 issues and secured over £7 million of additional income for them. We are here for everyone to help people move on with their lives.

As a trustee, you’d join a well-known, respected charity, influence strategy, strengthen governance and contribute to meaningful change. Communications Officer (Volunteer)

EQUAL AQUA is an award-winning NGO providing equal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Uganda. Equal Aqua is managed by an international team of 30+ volunteers, based mainly in the UK and Uganda, but spanning over 10 countries.

We are looking to expand and diversify our team of volunteers – seeking candidates with knowledge and skills in various fields, and a deep passion for our cause.

*Please note that all members of Equal Aqua work remotely and on a voluntary basis. We ask that volunteers contribute on average 1 day per week and commit to the role for 12 months as a minimum.*

Role Profile

Join us as part of our Communications team to help deliver powerful content for our internal & external communications strategy. You will be working alongside the Communications Manager & Communications Officer to develop our digital content & increase our presence on social media platforms. Provide creative support for enhancing donor prospects, generating demand & increasing engagement through compelling narratives to support EAU projects & fundraising initiatives.

ROLE & RESPONSBILITIES

• Write engaging, accessible copy for social media posts, blogs, and newsletter updates.
• Develop storytelling materials, such as case studies and fundraising spotlights, aligned with EAU’s brand voice.
• Ensure alignment with the EA communications calendar and major WASH/sector events.
• Work within established brand and content guidelines to ensure consistency.
• Work to project briefs and meet agreed timelines; maintain clear communication with other volunteers.
• Understand how data and analytics informs content performance

KEY REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL:

Experience:

• Proven ability in creation of high-quality social media content
• Strong copywriting, research and storytelling skills (long-from and short-form).
• General understanding of social media best practices.
• An eye for visual consistency and experience working with brand guidelines/briefs.
• A proactive, collaborative, flexible, and self-directed approach to volunteering

Skills:

• Familiarity with tools such as Monday, Google Analytics, Notion, or Mailchimp.
• Knowledge of tools like Monday/Buffer to track tasks and maintain project visibility.

DESIRABLE:

• Skilled at photo & video editing, & graphic design
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel as needed.
• Previous experience within the voluntary or charity sector is advantageous.

Make a difference – become a school governor

You do not have to be a parent or member of staff to be a school governor – applications are appreciated from all with an interest in the local community. School governors come from all walks of life and specialist knowledge is not always needed. What IS essential is a desire to get involved in children’s education and make a difference to their lives.

We welcome applications from those with educational, health & safety and safeguarding experience but school governors are all volunteers and training and support is provided. We’re seeking committed new trustees to help guide a small but ambitious charity supporting children and young people with cerebral palsy, ensuring our funds deliver meaningful, life-changing impact.

Our Board is made up of a small, committed group of trustees who bring a mix of professional expertise and personal connection to our cause. Together, we oversee a grant-making charity that has a long heritage and a clear ambition: to increase our income and ensure we can support more children and young people with cerebral palsy in meaningful, practical ways.

Like many small charities, our challenge is balancing strong governance with growth. We are financially stable and well run, but we want to think more strategically about our future: how we prioritise funding, how we grow awareness and income, and how we ensure every grant we make delivers real, lasting benefit for families. The new trustee will play an active role in shaping these conversations and helping the Board move confidently from steady state to sustainable growth.

The role is hands-on and collaborative. Trustees are expected to attend four board meetings a year, contribute thoughtfully to discussion and decision-making, and engage between meetings when specific issues arise. Depending on interest and experience, the new trustee may also be invited to take a lead role in an area of work or join a small working group, for example around fundraising development, investment oversight, or grant assessment.

This is an opportunity to influence how limited charitable funds are used where they matter most. Trustees are directly involved in decisions that enable children to access therapy, specialist equipment, and support that may not otherwise be available. For someone who wants to make a tangible difference, this is a role where your contribution can be clearly seen in the lives of the children and families we support.

The Stuart Low Trust are thrilled to invite you to volunteer to support our Spring Term (April-June 2026) programme of Arts, Nature and Wellbeing activities, which operate across Islington and London! 

Rooted in the Islington community and founded in memory of Stuart Low, who sadly took his own life in 1997, we work to ensure no one faces mental health challenges alone or without support.

We collaborate with facilitators, with assistance from volunteers, to provide our Arts, Nature, and Wellbeing programmes for people living with, or recovering from, mental health issues. Running during working hours as well as evenings and weekends, our group activities are inclusive, social, and creative – grounded in the belief that offering shared experiences can be transformative in helping to build connection, challenge stigma, and improve wellbeing. 

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, lived experiences, and abilities, aged 18 and over, who are passionate about supporting people experiencing social isolation and/or mental health issues. No prior qualifications or experience is needed. Ideal volunteers are empathetic, sensitive to diverse needs, confident in group settings, and able to remain calm, adaptable, and professional. Whatever your interests or experience, there’s a place for you on our team.

Applicants should use the application form to select volunteer roles that best match their interests, skills, and availability (e.g. Nature Visit Volunteer, Wellbeing Workshop Volunteer, etc.).

Activities are varied and dynamic, and you’ll meet people with diverse lived experiences, alleviate loneliness and the impacts of mental health challenges, while also becoming part of our friendly volunteer community and eligible for a reference. 

How Does it Work?

We run our activities year-round across four terms: Winter Term: Jan-March, Spring Term: April-June, Summer Term: July-Sept, Autumn Term: Oct-Dec. 

We’re currently recruiting volunteers for our Spring Term (April–June 2026).

If you join us this Spring and would like to continue volunteering in the Summer, Autumn, or beyond, we’d be delighted to have you. We support long-term volunteering and will regularly check in so you can let us know if you’d like to stay involved. 

Person Specification 

Requirements: 
- A minimum of 18-years-old. 
- Willing to complete a DBS check (paid for by SLT). 
- Willing to provide contact details for two referees. 
- Able to commit to in-person workshops (regularly or flexibly, dependant on role) 
- Able to attend a three-hour in-person volunteer training session. 
- Based in or near to London. 
 
Skills: 
- Passion for working with participants experiencing social isolation and/or mental health issues. 
- Awareness of mental health issues. 
- Excellent communication and listening skills. 
- Helpful assisting in a group setting. 
- Ability to remain calm, centred and professional, while keeping a sense of humour.

Expenses 

Stuart Low Trust reimburses travel expenses for volunteer-related activities.
