Experienced fundraiser needed who's up for a challenge - our volunteer-led community cinema needs to raise £85,000 for new equipment.

Ely Community Cinema CIC is a volunteer-led cinema in Ely, Cambridgeshire. We show films that are less available locally – world cinema, local film makers, and smaller independent films. We have been going for a year.

Our home is the Maltings on Ely Riverside, a multipurpose venue owned by Ely Council and we tend to show 2 films a week. We knew when we took the cinema over from the previous operator that we were inheriting old equipment and it has become clear to us over the last few months that most of it is going to have to be replaced, and it’s expensive! We know we need fundraise to do this because ticket sales alone will not raise the money we need.

We are therefore looking for an experienced fundraiser with a strong track record who can lead the development and delivery of a multi-stream approach that raises money for the equipment and also puts the cinema on a firm financial footing. We need someone who will:

- Develop a coherent, realistic fundraising strategy to underpin the cinema’s day-to-day operations and to meet the costs of new equipment.

- Implement this strategy using relevant channels, for example major donors, corporate sponsorship, trusts and foundations, individual giving.

o Make a great case for supporting the cinema

o Build relationships and represent us to funders, partners and supporters

o Potentially, recruit other volunteer fundraisers to help you

- Track progress against the target

- Keep records of all donors

As the Fundraising Lead you will become part of our Management Team. As you probably already know raising money for the Arts is hard, so the desire to challenge yourself in a difficult environment is key.

The Management Team meets monthly in the evening at the Maltings in Ely. We estimate that in addition to this meeting you will need to spend approximately 4 hours a week on this role, and from time to time you will need to be able to meet or talk with potential donors during office hours. It is therefore likely that you will live or work in the Ely area.
