About the Role

Baobab Foundation operates through two closely connected Community Benefit Societies: the By and For Community Fund, which is the registered charitable entity, and the By and For Foundation, which is the non-charitable entity. Together, these two legal entities provide the structural flexibility needed to advance Baobab’s mission for radical racial justice.

Baobab is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates in a way that advances racial justice, centres Black and Global Majority communities, and remains rooted in Baobab’s values of Unity, Justice and Freedom.

Trustees work in partnership with the PT (Project Team) and Baobab’s members. The PT Team leads the day-to-day coordination and delivery of Baobab’s operational activities, while trustees focus on governance and collective accountability. Together, trustees, PT team  and members each play distinct but complementary roles in ensuring that Baobab remains values-led, member-centred and effective in advancing its mission for radical racial justice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Baobab strives to model a different way of working that enables people to be accepted as  their full selves. For a horizontal structure to be effective, we ask all Baobab Trustees to commit fully to the principles of Justice, Freedom and Unity and work with integrity, openness and care. We encourage  those in the space to hold themselves and co-workers accountable in an equitable way, leading and making decisions within their remit, holding themselves accountable for their work and behaviour towards others and communicating transparently and openly. Maintaining a strong decolonial and horizontal organisational structure requires Trustees to commit to collective accountability within the team. 

All those working for Baobab must adhere to the code of conduct and all policies, procedures and processes. in order for us to equitably  realise our radical and decolonial aims of resourcing  Black and Global Majority communities with integrity, cohesion and care.

Required

• Strong governance experience, including legal, financial and regulatory oversight.

• Relevant professional and/or lived experience rooted in Black and Global Majority communities.

• Strategic thinking and sound judgment.

• Understanding of anti-oppressive, decolonial approaches.

• Commitment to Baobab’s values of Unity, Justice and Freedom.

Time Commitment 

We recognise that trustees contribute their time, expertise and networks alongside other commitments. We anticipate an average commitment of approximately 10 hours per month, with some flexibility depending on current priorities and areas of involvement.

This is expected to include:

• Attendance at  Board meetings;

• Preparation and review of Board papers and other key documents;

• Participation in occasional working groups; and

• Ad hoc strategic support where relevant.

Remuneration

In line with its status as a charitable BenCom, By and For Community Fund trustees serve in a voluntary, unpaid capacity. Reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling the role will be reimbursed in line with Baobab’s expenses policy, and accessibility support and reasonable adjustments will be provided to enable full participation.

As an Adult Carers Fundraiser Admin & Support Volunteer, you will play a key part in helping Carers Trust Solihull secure funding that enables us to continue and expand our vital services for adult carers across the borough.

Working alongside the manager, you will help identify and apply for funding opportunities, assist with administrative and community-based fundraising activities, and represent the charity in local events. Your support will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for carers by enabling new services, resources, and opportunities.

This role is ideal for someone with good communication and organisational skills who enjoys building connections and making a tangible difference in the community.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Research and help identify funding opportunities relevant to our work with carers.
• Support the manager with administrative tasks linked to grant applications and fundraising.
• Represent Carers Trust Solihull as a friendly and professional ambassador at fundraising events.
• Keep accurate records of fundraising activity, donations, and outcomes.
• Attend and help organise fundraising events that support our mission.
• Present pre-prepared presentations or films to funders and partners to raise awareness of our work.
• Assist or lead in writing small grant applications (and larger ones where confident).
• Collect and log donated items for our service (e.g., gift vouchers, tickets, Easter eggs, and Christmas selection boxes).
• Monitor when key funding streams renew or reopen, ensuring timely applications.
• Work collaboratively with the manager to assess the viability of opportunities within our available resources.
• Carry out any other agreed tasks related to fundraising and community engagement.

Creative Director (Volunteer Role)

VSO – Uzbekistan Education Project

International Volunteering Opportunity: English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Teacher (Aug 2026 – June 2027)

About VSO: 

VSO is a global development organisation that uses the power of volunteering to tackle poverty and inequality. Rather than providing aid, VSO works in partnership with governments and local institutions to strengthen skills and systems so that sustainable change continues long after a project ends. Volunteers are placed at the centre of community-led development to empower the most marginalised people.  

Project Summary

The Government of Uzbekistan is prioritising improved English language learning across the education system as part of national development reforms. In partnership with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, VSO will place experienced and passionate volunteer teachers in public secondary schools to strengthen English language teaching and learning outcomes.

• Graduate in Education / TESOL / Linguistics or related fields

• Final-year undergraduate or master’s student (who completes the course by July 2026)

• Fluent in English language (minimum C1 level)

• CELTA / TEFL / TESOL / DELTA preferred

Allowance, Costs & Support

There are no programme fees for volunteers. Fully funded project, all cost covered by VSO, including:

SHASBAH is in need  of a  Volunteer Treasurer to help continue our 60 year old charity and ensure smooth running of the charity finances while providing the  trustee board and staff with appropriate budgetary and financial information on the activities of the charity including organising annual accounts. 

A Treasurer maintains effective governance of the organisations affairs, ensuring its financial viability and ensuring that proper processes and procedures exist for assuring all financial records, decisions and delegations are maintained. Ensuring  our mission statement is being fulfilled. SHASBAH charity has trustees with a range of skills and lots of lived experience and has a small staff team. 

The Treasurer role will include:

•  Ensuring  that all accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies including Charity Commission.

• Providing guidance and reviews of financial grants, loans and investments. 

• Recommending to our trustees and staff appropriate accounting procedures, controls and policies.

• Becoming a joint account holder and signatory. 

•  Working in close partnership with the Director of services in executing their responsibilities and achieving the charity goals.

• Ensuring that appropriate financial policies are in place. 

As a Treasurer you will be required to provide monthly updates on the charity finances to the trustees and attend quarterly meetings via zoom or in person. Approx 8 hours a month in total.  All are welcome to attend any events or meetings.

The Role

We are seeking Peer Volunteers to support in designing and facilitating peer-led psychoeducation groups addressing root causes of gambling and a safe environment for loved ones to build meaningful peer connections. You will be joining a small team and be expected to work in partnership with your peer support workers and service lead. We are seeking autonomous, creative individuals with experiences of working or lived experience of behaviours around addiction.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has lived experience of addiction and/or mental health challenges
• Are a non-judgmental and friendly individual 
• To be able to provide a welcoming, authentic, and positive experience for all, being inclusive and embracing diversity 
• To feel comfortable engaging with people with addiction, mental health challenges / difficult life experiences, by validating strengths and experiences and using empowering language to overcome negative self-talk 
• Are empathic and understands the stigma / social bias's surrounding addiction and mental health 
• Are willing to tap into their lived experiences and use their stories to inspire hope in others when appropriate 
• Are comfortable with co-producing and co-facilitating peer led workshops 
• To assist the team with admin and planning
• Are able to take on any ad hoc admin/support responsibilities
• Knowledge around safeguarding policies and procedures 
• Knowledge and experience of risk management

Time commitment:

• Flexible hours between Monday-Friday. We are looking for someone to commit to a minimum of at least 1 or 2 activities a week.
• We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing support to support them in the role.

About the Lysene Foundation

The Lysene Foundation is a start‑up charitable organisation inspired by the micronation known as the Principality of Lys — a creative community rooted in the classical arts, architecture, and beauty of the French Renaissance, Baroque, Beaux‑Arts, and the age of Humanism and Enlightenment.

We believe in a new Renaissance for Europe and the wider world. Our mission is to bring the cultural and community spirit of Lys to life through accessible public programmes, including community events, educational initiatives, exhibitions, publications, artistic opportunities, and more.

All activities and resources are open to the public without restriction.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a creative, organised, and visionary Head of Programmes & Events to design and lead the foundation’s cultural and educational activities. This is a senior volunteer role ideal for someone who enjoys shaping meaningful public experiences, curating cultural content, and bringing ideas to life through events and programmes.

You will develop our programme strategy, design a diverse calendar of events and initiatives, and oversee their delivery with the support of volunteers and partner organisations. As we grow, you will build and lead a dedicated programmes and events team.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the cultural output of a new foundation from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the foundation’s global programmes and events strategy.

• Design a varied programme of cultural, educational, and community activities aligned with our mission.

• Oversee planning, coordination, and delivery of events, workshops, exhibitions, talks, and public initiatives.

• Collaborate with artists, educators, cultural partners, and internal teams to create high‑quality programming.

• Establish processes, templates, and best‑practice frameworks for programme delivery.

• Manage programme timelines, budgets (where applicable), and volunteer involvement.

• Evaluate programme impact and continuously refine offerings.

• Build and lead a programmes and events team as the foundation grows.

• Work closely with senior leadership to ensure programmes support organisational goals.

• Ensure all activities reflect the aesthetic and cultural values of the Principality of Lys.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in programme development, event management, arts administration, education, or cultural production.

• Strong organisational and project‑management skills.

• Creative thinker with the ability to turn ideas into well‑structured, engaging experiences.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to design systems and processes in a start‑up environment.

• Passion for arts, culture, education, or heritage.
