Help Shape the Future of an Ambitious Youth Arts Charity

We are excited to be looking for additional Trustees to join our established Board at Gorse Hill Studios (GHSCC). If you have a genuine passion for enhancing outcomes for children and young people, this is a great opportunity to contribute to a respected and ambitious youth arts charity.

As a member of our Board of Trustees, you will help shape our strategic direction, strengthen our governance, and champion our mission to ensure every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
 

About us:

At Gorse Hill Studios, we believe that all young people deserve social, emotional, educational and cultural investment in their future.

For over a decade, we have supported young people aged 8 to 25 through a unique combination of arts, youth work and creative learning. Our work focuses on inclusion, disability, youth voice, alternative education and creative engagement, helping young people build confidence, resilience and meaningful pathways into adulthood.

Through our programmes, we empower young people to discover their potential, strengthen their communities and achieve aspirations they may never have thought possible.

Your responsibilities as a Trustee:

• You will actively engage in shaping GHSCC's future, leveraging your unique skills, knowledge, and experience to inform sound decision-making.
• Ensure GHSCC's compliance with governing documents, charity law, and relevant legislation, aligned with its stated objectives.
• Oversee the effective and efficient administration of the charity, maintaining financial control and utilising resources in pursuit of its objectives.
• Collaborate with the Chief Executive & Board to establish a robust strategic direction, with clear targets set to achieve our vision, mission, and values.
• Evaluate performance against agreed benchmarks, contributing to enhancing Board performance.
• Safeguard GHSCC's reputation, ensuring proper management and insurance of property and funds.
• Approve and monitor policy implementation (Governance, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity), with comprehensive risk assessments.

Who we are looking for:

• Strategic vision and good judgement.
• Advocates for the creative arts and youth work.
• Integrity and commitment to our organisational values.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

• The Charity or Education sector
• Fundraising and income generation
• Marketing and communications
• Alternative Education Provision
• Legal or HR expertise
• Finance or risk management
• Public sector or community engagement

Time Commitment

The Board currently meets four times per year, in-person, in Gorse Hill, Trafford.

You must be able to travel to this location.

This is a voluntary unpaid role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
