We are looking for an Events Assistant who can help us organise monthly community dinners featuring three course meals from around the globe to enable the charity to engage with and attract donors. We require help with running the dinner on the day with tasks including welcoming the guests, serving food and drinks, take payments, setting up and clearing, etc.

You will be working as part of a team to plan and organise other events and fundraisers throughout the year, for example refugee week. You will also be assisting with applying for funds for events including securing raffle prizes, donations of ingredients, material needed, musicians and entertainment, etc.

This role will also include working closely with our marketing team, providing details of upcoming events for promotion; taking pictures and quotes at the event.

Main duties will include:

• Prior experience of events planning and organisation
• A passion and keenness to engage in community-based work to support refugees and serve the local community
• Good organisation skills including: effective time management, punctuality and delegation of tasks.
• A flexible and proactive attitude to working
• Good responsiveness to emails/ text/ whatsapp
• Practical skills to help prepare and set-up the café for events

We are looking for a versatile and reliable volunteer to support our company across different projects and collaborate closely with the people already involved in our work. No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

We are seeking Event Paramedics to respond to and manage emergency calls/incidents whilst attending events. At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to undertake clinical assessment and interventions those individuals in the pre-hospital environment, which may include stadia, concerts, motorsports, road races etc. This may encompass working on both ambulances / FRV’s and within treatment units as required.

Successful candidates will be registered Paramedics with the HCPC and be able to provide evidence of CPD activity within the previous 12 months.

Suffolk meets in Ipswich fortnightly on a Tuesday evening, Stowmarket on a Monday evening and Bury St Edmunds on a Wednesday evening.

The type of events Suffolk volunteers have historically supported are Suffolk Show, Aldeburgh Carnival, Newmarket Racecourse, Pumpkin Patch, University of Suffolk open days along with smaller events like village fetes and galas, 5k, 10k and half marathon running events, firework displays and remembrance events. Volunteers also have the opportunity to assist with National and State events in London such as the London Marathon.

As a volunteer photographer, you'll be on hand to document the energy, emotion, and community spirit at events such as our Pen y Fan walk, 5K Series, World Kidney Day, and our Supporter's Thanks evening — helping us tell our story through images that inspire others to get involved.

What this might involve:

• Attending events and capturing candid and posed shots of participants, supporters, and staff
• Providing edited images in a timely manner for use across our website, social media, and fundraising materials
• Bringing your own camera equipment

What we're looking for:

• A confident photographer with your own equipment
• Ability to work in a range of settings — from outdoor charity walks to indoor celebration evenings

Our shops help raise lots of money for us. It’s always lovely chatting to our customers about the fabulous items we sell and telling them about the fantastic work that we do. As a volunteer you will get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus be part of an amazing team of volunteers.

There’s so much for you to get stuck into when volunteering in our shops. We have several different positions available.

Stock Sorting Assistant: We get lots of donations so you will be rolling up your sleeves in the back room where you will be receiving, sorting, and pricing donations, predominantly Bric-a-Brac, Books and Clothes, it's always exciting when one of our volunteers spots a real gem.

Furniture Store Assistant: The role will also include assisting with moving furniture around the store, assembling & dismantling beds, and other flat packed furniture, and getting to express your creative side, by making attractive room displays.

It would be ideal if you could volunteer at least one shift a week, which is about four hours but we're also happy to have more flexible times.

No special skills are needed as we will show you what to do and will provide all the training you need. But if you have any experience or particular interest tell us, it may come in useful. Join Our New Wildlife Conservation Volunteering Programme

Help launch our new volunteering programme and play a hands-on role in conserving wildlife habitats at Baronsdown Wildlife Reserve, near Dulverton on the Somerset–Devon border.

• Building nesting boxes
• Taking part in pollinator surveys

No experience is required. Full instruction, supervision, and all necessary tools and equipment will be provided.

Please note that the reserve is on uneven and hilly terrain. We recommend:

• Wellies or sturdy outdoor boots
• Long sleeves and trousers
• Gardening gloves, if you have them
• A hat and sun cream in warm or sunny weather

You’ll support recycling efforts, keep walkways and storage areas organised, ensure stock is clearly labelled, and work closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain a tidy, well‑run space. No experience is needed — we provide full training, equipment, and ongoing support. All you need is enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

If you’re interested in recycling, warehouse operations, or developing new practical skills while supporting a great cause, this role could be a perfect fit.

We are looking for someone who could ideally volunteer during the week between Monday-Friday if possible, but would be grateful for whatever time you can spare.

Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?

We're looking for 3 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists volunteers ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service. 

As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.  

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.

People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.

Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.

What the role involves

This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

• Undertake client assessments following triage by Clinical Lead, followed by counselling / therapy (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus a check in and 4 psychometric assessments

• Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

• Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

• Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR

• Attending and participating in monthly group supervision support of 1.5 hours a month

• Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current

• Participating in volunteer meetings
• Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principles

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.

What you need for this role

Essential

• Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised membership organisations (see below)
• Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR 
• Minimum of 100 hours supervised
• Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
• A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
• Able to keep people’s personal data safe

• Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

• Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for therapy sessions plus time for administration and attending group supervision for 1.5 hours a month. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.

• Knowledge of chronic pain or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
• Previous experience as a chronic pain or CRPS counsellor or psychologist

What’s involved?

There are governor vacancies across England and Wales. Some schools are also looking for remote governors who don't need to live near the school they support.

Governors volunteer at board level to set the strategic vision for their school. This involves constructively challenging current processes, using your unique skills to support senior leaders, and overseeing school finances. You’ll be involved in areas such as monitoring, budget management, and data analysis. As well as putting your expertise to good use, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your professional skills. Ultimately, you’ll work towards facilitating the delivery of a broad and exciting curriculum and oversee wellbeing and inclusion initiatives. Governance represents a fantastic opportunity to develop yourself while making a real impact on the education of children and young people.

Governors work collaboratively with the headteacher and other members of the board, including parents and school staff. In most schools, full board meetings are held termly, as are committee meetings. Many governors will sit on a committee linked to their expertise or interests, such as teaching and learning or finance and resources. In addition to attending meetings, governors will need to read the papers in advance, complete training courses, and occasionally visit their school.

Governors usually support schools for a period of four years and with an estimated time commitment of 7 hours per month. During these hours, you will attend meetings, read papers, attend training sessions, and make occasional visits to school.

Who can be a governor?

The most important part of being a governor is the ability to ask questions, provide support and have the best interests of the school at heart. You don't have to be a parent or have experience in education to become a governor. Schools seek a  wide range of skills to support the board, including finance, HR, and data analysis.

Boards also need governors with a diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences to ensure a range of perspectives are considered during board meetings.

Schools welcome professional experience, as well as community insight and experience of working collaboratively.

You need to be aged 18 or above and there are certain criminal convictions that would exclude you from the role. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be carried out by the school.
