We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to take part in our relaxed, hands-on conservation sessions. There’s no long-term commitment — just come along when you can and enjoy making a positive impact.

About Pharmacist Support

Pharmacist Support is an independent, trusted charity providing free and confidential support to pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists, trainees and students.

We listen without judgement and help people navigate challenges including workplace pressures, financial difficulties and mental health and wellbeing concerns.

Established in 1841, Pharmacist Support has evolved from Benevolent Fund roots into a modern, forward-looking charity championing wellbeing across the profession.

About the role

We are particularly keen to hear from:

• Individuals with experience in the charity or voluntary sector
• Skills or expertise in areas such as finance, HR, governance, digital or fundraising.
• Individuals with lived experience of the charity’s services
• Those who can bring fresh perspectives, skills and insights from outside the pharmacy profession

Our aim is to build a Board of Trustees that is representative of the people and communities we support. We welcome applications from individuals of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and levels of experience.

Time commitment

The role requires approximately one day per month across:

• Four Board meetings per year
• Four sub-committee meetings per year
• Preparation and reading time
• Occasional involvement in charity events, working groups or training

Board meetings are usually held in Manchester during the day, although virtual attendance can be accommodated where required. Sub-committee meetings are generally held virtually in the evening.

Reasonable expenses incurred to facilitate attendance at meetings will be reimbursed.

Successful applicants will initially be appointed for a three-year term, with the opportunity for reappointment subject to satisfactory peer appraisal and trustee term limits.

We are looking for someone to assist us to share information and updates through our communications and social media content, to help us fundraise and grow.

What will you be doing?

• Leading on one of our social media channels (currently Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn)
• Producing occasional blog posts (minimum one per quarter except LinkedIn lead who will do one per month) on topics related to Plateful Café including research and interviews.

The monthly, evening autism support group is open to parents, carers and family members of autistic children and adults, autistic adults and professionals who work with autistic people, to meet to exchange experiences, skills and understanding. Guest speakers are occasionally invited.

It meets from 7.30pm with an opportunity to chat to other members, take refreshments and browse the branch information stand and library. The meeting itself, whether a discussion evening or a speaker presentation, will start by 8.00pm. The evening closes at 9.30pm.

The volunteer Autism Support Group Leader will be responsible for the co-ordination and running of the NAS South Hampshire Branch’s autism support group which takes place monthly on a Monday evening.

What you will be doing

• Planning sessions, booking guest speakers and co-ordinating the other volunteers
• Interacting with those attending, making sure that everyone can engage in the activities in a safe manner.
• Facilitating discussions ensuring all those who wish to speak have the opportunity and that discussions stay on track

Help support inspiring trekkers as they take on 13 or 26 miles to raise vital funds for dementia.

Trekking a marathon or half-marathon is no mean feat so we need volunteers just like you, to help give our trekkers as much support as possible on the day. This could be a cup of tea at one of our rest stops, a friendly word of encouragement on the route, or a triumphant cheer across the finish line.

As part of our volunteer crew, you’ll help give trekkers the encouragement and all important boost they need to keep going strong. We can guarantee that it means the world to our trekkers.

Volunteering with us is an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and work experience, explore this beautiful area of mid Wales and the Snowdonia National Park, and meet a range of interesting and friendly new people all working together on solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

In this exciting residential placement, you will learn sustainable woodland management practices through hands-on practical tasks, help support our off-grid water and sanitation systems and make improvements around site using our natural resources. You will learn how to apply a variety of woodland management techniques and woodworking skills to support biodiversity across CAT’s managed woodland spaces.

Volunteering with the CAT Water and Woodland team helps to provide beautiful, healthy, diverse and peaceful outdoor spaces for visitors, educational groups and CAT staff to learn from and enjoy.

The Rio Cinema is looking to appoint up to four trustees, including a Treasurer, to complement its existing board.

The Rio Cinema is one of London’s most iconic independent cultural landmarks and the UK’s oldest cinema, operating continuously on the same site since 1909. As we mark our 50th anniversary of being named the Rio and operating as an independent charity (charity no. 277415) run by and for the community, we are looking to appoint up to four new trustees, including a Treasurer, to our board to help steward our legacy and ensure the future sustainability of the Rio for the next 50 years. 
We are looking to strengthen our board with individuals who can bring their professional skills, strategic mindset, creative problem-solving and diverse networks to help us thrive in an ever-changing cultural and economic landscape.
 

We are particularly interested in recruiting trustees with the following backgrounds:

• Finance & Accounting: We are specifically seeking a Treasurer who is a finance professional (ideally a qualified accountant or CFO) to provide high-level oversight of our financial health, statutory reporting, and long-term resilience (see here for a more detailed role description).
  
   
• Property & Capital Projects: We’re looking to undertake a number of capital projects on our Grade II-listed building over the next several years and we are seeking a trustee with experience in property development or managing large-scale renovation/restoration projects. Experience with heritage/listed buildings is a plus, but not a requirement.
  
   
• Fundraising: We are seeking a trustee with a proven track record in securing philanthropic income, corporate partnerships, and public grants within the cultural sector. Experience navigating major funding bodies (such as the BFI, Arts Council England or the National Lottery Heritage Fund), cultivating individual donors, trusts and foundations, or leading capital campaign strategies is very desirable.
  
   
• Legal: We are looking for a trustee with a legal background to act as a sounding board for the board and management. You do not need to be a practising expert in charity law, but your general legal knowledge and analytical mindset will help us evaluate risk, sense-check decisions, and ensure good corporate governance across our operations and upcoming projects (see here for a more detailed role description). 

• Term: 3 years (renewable once)

As a Volunteer Donor Relationship Co-ordinator, you will play a crucial role in forming and maintaining relationships with our donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, whilst forming & implementing a strategy to keep them donating. This role would suit someone who is confident, enthusiastic about building strong connections, and passionate about the welfare of refugees & asylum seekers.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify and approach local high net worth individuals/businesses to approach for a regular donation
• Develop a donor relationship strategy aimed at maximising engagement and satisfaction.
• Personally reach out to existing donors to thank them for their contributions (& send seasonal cards/other personalised messages to maintain positive relationships).
• Build relationships by engaging with donors via phone calls and emails to understand their motivations for donating and gather feedback used to improve our efforts.
• Encourage previous donors to continue their support.
• Keep detailed and accurate records of all our donor interactions to ensure we have up-to-date information on our supporters.
• Create and distribute surveys to gain insights into our donors’ needs and expectations.
• Further down the line, host webinars or live Q&A sessions to answer donor questions and provide updates on our work.
