You will be vital to the work of your local Scope shop, as one of the first faces customers see.

You will receive training on serving our customers on the till, taking payments and making Gift Aid donations. This makes a real difference to our income and the number of disabled people we can support.

Your role may include:

• using the till and cash handling
• welcoming and supporting customers
• helping to display stock and window dressing
• preparing goods for sale
• tidying and cleaning the shop

When and where

You will be based at our Scope shop at 1 Cheapside, Lancaster, Lancs, LA1 1LY. We are flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more.

Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. This is an exciting time to join London Plus: we have built strong partnerships across London with both the Voluntary and community sector and key statutory partners, a range of important programmes of work underway and a new strategy in development.

As Chair, you will provide non-executive leadership, support good governance and work closely with the Chief Executive and staff team to help us deliver our mission and increase our impact.

Become Our Founding Treasurer

Help build the financial foundations of a charity dedicated to transforming how we understand and respond to male suicide.

Too many men are dying by suicide.

In the UK, men account for around three quarters of all suicides, yet male suicide remains under-researched and under-served by targeted interventions. We believe this has to change.

Action on Male Suicide is a new research-led charity established by researchers and practitioners who have spent years studying male suicide and working with men in suicidal crisis. Our work brings together rigorous academic research, lived experience, and practical action to identify what truly helps men and ensure that knowledge is translated into better services, stronger communities, and fewer men dying.

We are on a mission to transform how we understand and respond to male suicide. Can you help us?

As we begin building the organisation, we are seeking our first Treasurer to join the Board of Trustees.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a charity from the very beginning. Alongside the Chair and fellow trustees, you will help establish the financial governance, systems and oversight needed to support sustainable growth and maximise our impact for years to come.

Although Action on Male Suicide is a new charity, it builds on years of research and collaboration in the field of male suicide. You can explore some of the research and work that has informed our approach by searching online for "Male Suicide Research".

We are a UK registered youth development charity that uses teaching and learning to skateboard in a structured and supportive environment as a platform to develop the skills and abilities of children and young people.

The Role: Chapter Leader

As a Chapter Leader with the Skateboarding Foundation (SF), your role is to set up and run a Local Chapter that gives young people access to skateboarding and life skills through the SF ‘Eduskate’ programme.

Training, materials, resources, equipment and ongoing support, advice and guidance will be provided.

Key responsibilities

Your key responsibilities include:

• Setting up and running the chapter
• Recruiting coaches
• Recruiting learners
• Coordinating the delivery of the coaching programme
• Raising funds and spreading the word
• Helping us monitor and evaluate the programme
• Giving three/four hours a month of your time

You’ll have overall responsibility for the chapter’s activities, compliance, and smooth running. You’ll provide direction and support to your chapter committee, chair meetings, and ensure volunteers, coaching programmes, and fundraising are well managed.

The role involves motivating the team, planning chapter development, and stepping in where needed to keep things on track. You’ll also liaise with the national Board of Trustees, keeping them informed of key decisions and changes. 

Strong leadership, organisation, and a passion for youth development (and ideally skateboarding) and the charity’s mission are essential.

We are seeking committed individuals to join our Management Committee, supporting the strategic oversight and governance of Help4Homeless.

This is a voluntary leadership role responsible for ensuring the charity operates effectively, ethically, and in line with its mission to support people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough.

Management Committee members carry out trustee-style responsibilities, providing oversight, guidance, and accountability for the organisation, without being part of day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of Help4Homeless and its long-term direction
• Act in the best interests of the organisation and its beneficiaries at all times
• Attend committee meetings and contribute to decision-making and planning
• Support and challenge the leadership team to ensure effective delivery of services
• Monitor the organisation’s activities, impact, and overall performance
• Help ensure financial transparency and responsible use of funds
• Identify risks and help ensure appropriate safeguarding and compliance measures are in place
• Uphold the values, mission, and reputation of Help4Homeless
• Act as an ambassador for the organisation within the community

Please Note

Although this role is titled Management Committee Member, it carries responsibilities equivalent to a trustee position, including governance, oversight, and accountability. The committee collectively ensures the organisation is well-managed and acting in the public interest.

Young Lives Foundation are recruiting volunteer wellbeing mentors (living in Kent) to support young people through one-to-one mentoring. 
 
Their mentors provide consistent, positive support to a young person, helping them build confidence, resilience, and life skills. No formal qualifications are required, and full training, safeguarding checks, and ongoing support are provided.
 
They’re looking for people who are:

• Reliable and committed
• Good listeners with empathy and patience
• Interested in making a meaningful difference to a young person’s life

The commitment is typically around 1–2 hours per week, for a minimum of 6 months.
