The Lyonic Scots Society is looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and creative volunteer to help us plan and deliver events that celebrate our community and support the Clan Chief in promoting the Lyonic Scots.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Planning and coordinating Society events, both online and in person.

• Working with the committee to bring ideas to life.

• Helping organise venues, schedules, and event logistics.

• Promoting events alongside our Communications Officer.

• Creating welcoming, engaging experiences for members and supporters.

What We’re Looking For

• Someone organised, proactive, and full of ideas.

• Comfortable planning activities and coordinating details.

• A friendly communicator who enjoys working with others.

The Lyonic Scots Society is looking for a creative, organised, and enthusiastic communicator to help us promote our work, celebrate our achievements, and support the Clan Chief in raising the profile of the Lyonic Scots.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creating engaging posts and updates for our social media channels.

• Helping shape our public voice and messaging.

• Promoting events, projects, and Society news.

• Working with the committee to share information clearly and consistently.

• Helping raise awareness of the Lyonic Scots locally and online.

What We’re Looking For

• Someone confident with social media and communication tools.

• A friendly, creative person who enjoys writing and sharing ideas.

• Comfortable planning and scheduling posts.

• Able to communicate clearly and positively.

• No need to be Scottish — just bring your enthusiasm and communication skills.

We are looking for our next Chair of Trustees – someone who will work closely with our Executive Team and Board to guide the organisation through what is both a challenging and genuinely exciting time. The funding environment is tough. The political context is difficult. And yet the need for what we do has never been greater.

This is an unpaid voluntary role. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our Volunteer Expenses Policy.

The successful candidate will lead a vibrant, well-established, national charity as it navigates the next chapter of its story.

Main tasks

• Developing and setting our future strategy, alongside the Executive Team and other Trustees
• Helping shape and deliver our future, identifying opportunities in an evolving landscape
• Leading the Board of Trustees, including regular 1:1s and providing space for reflection
• Acting as a 'critical friend' to our Executive Team, as well as formal line management to the CEO (and COO in their absence)
• Acting as an ambassador for the charity – raising awareness of what we do and engaging potential supporters and other key stakeholders
• Responsibility, along with the other trustees, for the governance of the charity
• Contributing to the ongoing strategy of the charity, in line with our charitable objectives
• Participating in board meetings and sub-committees in an inclusive and thoughtful way

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help cats. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours

• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You'll be:

• planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances
• providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events
• encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.
