As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

You will help older people feel more confident and connected. From the comfort of your home, you’ll research options and link them with local and national services that can make a real difference.

In this role, no two days are the same. You might:

- Research social activities and follow up with someone to help them feel less lonely

- Arrange transport for someone with mobility challenges to get to a day centre or lunch club

- Find trusted tradespeople, like gardeners, to help someone stay independent at home

- Make calls on behalf of someone who lacks the confidence to do so themselves

- Connect people with their local Age UK or similar organisations

- Each call is different, but all make a real difference to older people’s lives.

Older people are at the heart of everything we do at Age UK. You don’t need prior experience, we’ll provide full training and ongoing support. It’s helpful if you understand the challenges people may face in later life and will need some awareness of local and national services older people can be referred to. 

Strong communication skills and basic confidence using computers and online tools are important for this role.

You’ll get full training and an induction, so you feel confident in your role. We’ll provide regular check-ins, team support sessions, and opportunities to connect with other volunteers for peer support.

This role takes place Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm. We’ll work with you to find times that suit you within these hours.

As an Age UK volunteer, you'll get discounts on Age Co. products and services, plus offers from other brands through our discounts portal. Just ask your volunteer manager to find out what other perks are available.

We are looking for a dedicated and well-organised press volunteer who can assist our team with various communication tasks!

Main duties will include:

• Publishing news and reports about developments at Plateful Cafe, which is due to open in May
• Announcing and promoting events organised by our team through local press, radio, Lewisham Council and other organisations
• Writing stories for the website, funding applications and reports
• Creating content for our social media accounts

Are you interested in facilitating a peer support group for people who are struggling with their mental health? We are looking for passionate volunteers to facilitate a weekly group, to discuss topics relating to mental health.

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We are looking for enthusiastic Arts and Crafts Volunteers to help provide meaningful companionship, creativity, and support at two of our Extra Care services in the London Borough of Brent. Volunteering with Creative Support is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people with support needs while working alongside our team to deliver truly person‑centred care.

We are seeking individuals who are creative, patient, warm, and approachable, with a genuine interest in supporting others. You don't need to be a professional artist, but you should enjoy arts and crafts, be enthusiastic about sharing ideas, and be able to encourage participation in a relaxed and inclusive environment. If you can spare a couple of hours and are able to volunteer on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you.

Activities might include painting, drawing and colouring activities; card-making and seasonal crafts; textile-based projects such as knitting and sewing; decorative and creative crafts; workshops linked to cultural events, celebrations and holidays; collaborative art projects and displays; and supporting residents to explore new creative hobbies and interests. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy and you can offer a few hours on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you!

This role is for two of our extra care services for older people in the London Borough of Brent.

Volunteer Duties:

- Support residents to take part in a variety of creative arts and crafts activities

- Encourage individuals to express themselves through creative projects

- Help create a welcoming, fun, and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feel comfortable participating

- Build positive relationships with residents through conversation, companionship, and shared interests

- Adapt activities to suit different abilities, interests, and support needs

- Assist with setting up activities, organising materials, and tidying away afterwards

- Work alongside staff to ensure activities are safe, engaging, and person-centred

- Report any safeguarding concerns to Creative Support staff members

- Understand and work within Creative Support Policies and procedures, respecting boundaries

- Attend regular supervisions with your allocated volunteer supervisor and complete any training provided

Hours: Volunteer required for a couple of hours a week. Anytime between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. 

About CARAS:

Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a charity that supports refugees and people seeking asylum who live in south London. We offer a range of individual and group support to improve the holistic wellbeing of people who have a background of forced migration, providing them with tools to build lives filled with value, meaning and purpose in the UK. Our activities for young people currently include: ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages), study group, youth club, swimming lessons and football.

About Youth Club:

Youth Club is a place for young people aged 14-19 to come and play games, learn new skills, make and strengthen friendships and build a sense of belonging. Regular activities include classic youth club games such as table tennis, pool, foosball, board and card games. We also work in partnership with a range of organisations to run a rich programme of workshops within our youth club. Some of these have included creative visual arts, drama, music and workshops on rights and entitlements of young asylum seekers. We also cook a hot meal from time to time and offer a range of snacks each week. Our casework team are also on-site to support young people with a range of advice and signposting needs, usually by-appointment.

Youth club takes place at Furzedown Youth Centre. Welham Rd, London SW16 6TJ

About the role:

As a Youth Club volunteer, you would be helping young people to feel welcome, join in with activities and be a great role model.

Youth Club takes place every Wednesday at 6.00-8.30pm. We ask for a commitment of at least 2 sessions per month for a minimum of 6 months.

Tasks and responsibilities:

· To attend and contribute to volunteer de-briefs which occur 15 minutes after each session.

· To act as a positive role model and set standards of behaviour when volunteering with young people.

· To encourage and inspire young people to reach their full potential.

· To assist young people to both recognise and celebrate their achievements.

· To challenge young peoples’ negative attitudes and behaviour in an appropriate manner.

· To adhere to CARAS Child Protection procedures, Confidentiality policy, Health & Safety policy, Equal Opportunities policy and all other policies as relevant.

Requirements:

To be 18 years or older;

· To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;

· To be reliable and punctual;

· Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English;

· The ability to volunteer on Wednesday evenings for a minimum of six months;

· Current resident of the UK;

· Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check;

· Able to attend compulsory volunteer induction training (online) general and safeguarding prior to the start of role

Volunteer induction training currently takes place online once a month on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 6pm - 8pm. we offer the same trainings on Tuesday and Wednesday daytimes online between 12noon - 2pm once every 3 months.

Your availability to attend 1 general and 1 safeguarding online training session at these times within 3 months of your application would be a prerequisite of being accepted as a volunteer at CARAS.

Desirable:

· Knowledge of community languages, such as (including Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Somali and Spanish).

Core Purpose: To accelerate the growth of our partnered events proposition within the charities Adventures for Animals team by identifying, researching, and initiating contact with potential partner groups, gyms, influencers, and communities. This role manages the pipeline of finding alignment, making first contact, and getting partners excited about co-creating a fundraising event to make a difference to the lives of animals in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Partnership Mapping & Research: Scour social media, Google, local directories, and fitness networks to identify potential partners (e.g., vegan groups, eco-conscious gyms, walking clubs, outdoor influencers).
• Pipeline Management: Maintain an organized Partnerships Tracker spreadsheet (listing organization names, key contact info, social handles, and alignment reasons).
• Initial Cold Outreach: Send out template-based pitch emails and Social Media/LinkedIn direct messages to explain the dual-branded initiative and gauge their interest.
• Warm Handover: Once a group or influencer expresses concrete interest and wants to discuss details, passing this to the team to finalise the partnership (option to remain involved with this process if the applicant would like to be part of the full life cycle of managing the partnership)

Required Experience & Skills

• Excellent written communication skills—able to write warm, persuasive pitch messages.
• Highly resourceful with strong internet research skills (proficient with Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google searching).
• Extremely organized and comfortable working with spreadsheets 

Kidney Care UK, the UK’s leading kidney patient support charity is looking to recruit a number of exceptional individuals to join our committed Board as Trustees. To maintain a good skills balance within the Board, we would particularly welcome applications from a range of interested applicants with legal, IT, finance and fundraising expertise, as well as from senior clinicians including nurses and other allied health professionals. Lived experience of kidney disease would be advantageous but not essential.

Kidney Care UK, provides practical, financial and emotional support for kidney patients and their families, and works in partnership with health professionals and organisations to improve care and quality of life for patients. With over 200 patients supported every week and around £3m invested in our patient support work every year, we are passionately committed to improving the lives of everyone affected by the disease and actively campaign to improve care services.

Trustees are expected to attend four Board meetings a year, held in London and at our office headquarters in Alton, Hampshire, and most Trustees choose to sit on one of our four Committees.

The appointment is for an initial term of three years, with an option to serve up to nine years in total.

There is no remuneration although expenses may be claimed.

Join the Boards of the Mary Ward Settlement, the Mary Ward Legal Centre and the Blackfriars Settlement at a pivotal time for the charities, as the Settlement has relocated to purpose-built accommodation in Stratford. The Mary Ward Settlement has a proud heritage as part of the Settlement Movement which developed in the late 19th Century as a response to urban poverty and social problems arising from industrialisation. Mary Ward founded the Settlement in 1892 to “provide public education and social service for the benefit of the community” at a time and in an area where great wealth and great deprivation stood side by side, much as they do today – the Settlement’s work continues to be important.

Currently the Settlement delivers its services via:

· The Mary Ward Centre – an Institute of Adult Learning and an adult and community learning provider offering a wide range of learning opportunities for local and pan London residents funded primarily by the Greater London Authority.  Most accredited provision is at Level 2 or below in Essential Skills (ESOL, English and Maths and Digital Skills.  There is also a significant and thriving non-accredited offer of courses ranging from 12 weeks to one day workshops, the majority of which are Art and Design. 

· The Mary Ward Legal Centre – providing free specialist legal advice on housing, welfare benefits and debt. We also provide free legal advice as part of our pro bono clinic in the areas of employment, housing, small claims, consumer, and family.

· The Blackfriars Settlement – providing services to the community including health and well-being for older people, and mental health and wellbeing services to support people achieve their goals and stay well.

The Settlement is looking for people who are passionate about social justice, lifelong learning and education, and the importance of strong local communities to foster wellbeing for all. This is an opportunity to:

At The Advocacy Academy, we envision a world where young people with lived experience of injustice (LEofI) harness their collective power to shape a more fair, just, and equal society. Our mission is to organise and support these young people to drive systemic change on the most pressing issues of our time. 

We do this by offering deep coaching, delivering transformative leadership programmes, and creating clear pathways for sustained action. Through shared learning and community-building, we help young leaders build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to launch and lead proactive campaigns. We also recognise that real change starts from within - so we’re committed to a governance structure that is values-driven, participatory, and beyond reproach, ensuring TAA is as accountable to young people as it is to the communities we serve and its wider responsibilities.

We’re now looking to recruit two new Trustees to join our Board and help steer this work. We're especially keen to hear from people with leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Treasurer, Community Organising and Campaigns.

Trustees of The Advocacy Academy play a unique role in delivery of our mission. They are collectively responsible for the governance of the organisation, represent it to the community, and accept ultimate compliance authority for the charity and its activities. As a Trustee with experience in the UK’s youth sector, you will support the Board and the Executives in ensuring that TAA continues to deliver an exceptional quality of youth work, and the role that safeguarding plays in achieving this. As a trustee:

• Work with the Chair, Trustees and Senior Leadership team (SLT) to ensure there is a clear, long-term and strategic vision The Advocacy Academy.
• Work with the Board to ensure we function within the financial requirements of a UK registered charity and company, our constitution and that we strive for best practice
• Take responsibility with the other trustees so that the charity has effective practice to safeguard the people it works with
• Act as an ambassador, spokesperson and champion our work supporting our income activities, and fostering networks that can help generate income.

About Our Board of Trustees

• Our Board currently consists of six members, recruited, selected, and approved by the Board of Trustees.
• Each trustee serves a three-year term, and we are made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
• The Board meets quarterly (four times per year) to provide strategic oversight and governance. Operations/day to day are managed by the Executives.
• Given the size of the board, we expect all trustees to join at least one subcommittee meeting per year, unless there are extenuating circumstances. The subcommittee meets are typically held prior to full Board meetings.
• Board meetings are held at our Liberation Centre in Brixton and subcommittee meets are held virtually
• The role of trustee is voluntary, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
• Trustees are expected to prepare in advance by reading reports and meeting papers, and are also warmly invited to attend our events throughout the year.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. The Campaigning/Mobilisation Trustee - will provide mobilisation and campaigns governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Director of Organising and Campaigns and fellow trustees, they will:

• Provide strategic oversight of The Advocacy Academy’s organising and campaigning activities and priorities.
• Ensure campaigns are ethical, legally compliant, and aligned with the organisation’s values.
• Support the development of effective, youth-led organising and campaigning strategies.
• Offer insight into advocacy trends, movement-building, and political landscapes.
• Serve as a sounding board for the team, offering critical friend feedback without operational interference.
• Help the board assess risks and opportunities related to public positioning, reputation, and partnerships.
• Good governance, diversity and teamwork are at the core of the Board’s values. We want to ensure trustees represent the young people we work with and we are particularly interested in applications from people with lived experience.

2. The Treasurer - will provide charity financial governance oversight of The Advocacy Academy, including but not limited to: Working closely with our Finance Director and the Finance & Risk Committee and fellow Trustees, they will:

• Provide support on financial oversight and ensure compliance with relevant charity and regulatory requirements.
• Review and co-present financial reports and key insights to the Board of Trustees.
• Actively participate in the Finance and Risk Committee, ensuring effective financial scrutiny.
• Strategic contribution to long-term financial and fundraising planning and support the organisation’s risk management framework.
• Attend Finance and Risk subcommittee meetings quarterly

PERSON SPECIFICATION  

1. The Campaigning/Mobilisation Trustee -

• Understanding of power-building, community organising, or movement strategy (essential).
• Experience in grassroots organising and campaigns, advocacy, or social justice movements.
• Familiarity with political or social justice contexts in the UK.
• Willingness to support youth leadership and work in solidarity with young campaigners.
• Previous board or governance experience is helpful but not essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

2. The Treasurer -

• Proven expertise in charity fundraising and financial management.
• Experience of charity finance and fundraising is essential.
• Experience of supporting organisational growth
• Previous board or trustee experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

EXPECTATIONS & ENTITLEMENT  

• Attend at least one training programme that we run, so that you understand the work we deliver
• Attend trustee meetings, which are held four times a year in London or virtually, and last between 3-4 hours - trustees are expected to attend at least three each year.
• Participate in one of our sub-committees as may be required by the trustee role.

• Claim reasonable travel and accommodation expenses to attend meetings

This is an outline of the responsibilities and duties of the Trustee roles, it is not intended as an exhaustive list and may change from time to time to meet the changing needs of The Advocacy Academy’s board. Any changes will be made in consultation with the post holders.

Community Interaction & Behaviour Change Communication

· Visit villages, urban communities, and schools

· Interact with families, women, and children

· Understand local health practices, challenges, and needs

· Support ongoing community health programs

Hygiene Awareness Campaigns

· Conduct awareness sessions on:

o Personal hygiene (menstrual hygiene , handwashing, cleanliness)

o Sanitation practices

o Safe drinking water and hygiene habits

· Use creative methods like posters, demonstrations, and group activities

Basic Health Education

· Assist in delivering sessions on:

o Menstrual hygiene .

o Preventive healthcare

o Nutrition and balanced diet

o Common diseases and basic prevention methods

· Support local team in simplifying health messages for communities

School Health Programs

· Organize interactive sessions in schools on:

o Hygiene practices for children

o Importance of cleanliness and health

· Conduct activities such as:

o Games and quizzes

o Awareness discussions

o Health-focused storytelling

Women’s Health & Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

· Support workshops on:

o Menstrual hygiene management

o Breaking myths and stigma

o Importance of hygiene and health for women

· Assist in distributing educational materials

Research & Data Collection

· Conduct basic surveys and collect community feedback

· Observe and document hygiene practices and health awareness levels

· Assist in preparing reports and case studies

Campaign Design & Creative Outreach

· Help design:

o Awareness posters

o Educational materials

o Social media campaigns

· Participate in community awareness drives and local events

Community Interaction & Behaviour Change Communication

· Engage in conversations with community members

· Promote positive behaviour change related to hygiene and health

· Learn how communication strategies influence public health outcomes

Documentation & Storytelling

· Document field experiences through:

o Photography

o Blogs

o Video storytelling

· Share impact stories and community voices
