About the Role 

We are Buttons & Bubbles C.I.C. We aim to increase inclusion and representation for disabled families across society. We have several different services including bespoke characters, workshops, free resources, events, sensory trails and more. 

As we continue to grow, we are on a mission to make finding and accessing information around everything to do with disability easier. Hence, we're putting together a brand-new team of volunteers who are passionate about content and using the power of social media for good

Who Are We Looking For?

A charity  based in  Croydon, Surrey, London, UK is looking for volunteer Charity Volunteer Assistants; to volunteer 30 unpaid hours per week. The Charity serves a multi ethnic community especially people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds. 

Responsibilities:

• To assist in the delivery of events (ours and those we are invited to), projects and our yearly summer community event.
• To assist in the daily collection and drop off of Greggs after day produce to various soup kitchens
• To assist in promotion of organisations services. eg flyer distribution, school workshops, etc.
• To assist in the delivery of essential services 
• To assist in our soup kitchen projects

Person Specification:

• Someone enthusiastic and passionate about charity work and committed to working towards the achievements of the charities objectives.

The Events Assistant will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Hidayah’s events and activities. Working closely with the Events Officer and wider team, this role ensures that all events run smoothly, are well-promoted, inclusive, and aligned with Hidayah’s mission. The ideal candidate is organised, proactive, and passionate about creating meaningful community experiences.

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

1. Event Planning & Delivery 

· Support the Events Officer in planning, organising, and delivering a range of events, both online and in person

· Liaise with venues and caterers to confirm logistics, costs, and facilities, ensuring value for money and guest satisfaction

· Manage event listings and guest registrations through OutSavvy, ensuring all attendees have active Hidayah memberships

· Assist with event setup, registration, and on-the-day coordination, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment

· Support with risk assessments, accessibility considerations, and general event compliance

2. Marketing & Communications 

· Collaborate with the Social Media team to schedule and promote events across Hidayah’s social channels

· Create or support the design of promotional materials and graphics using Canva

· Draft event descriptions, newsletter content, and updates for review by the Events Officer

· Coordinate the monthly newsletter, liaising with the Social Media team to finalise and distribute

· Engage partner charities, community groups, and networks to share event information via email and social media

3. Stakeholder & Community Engagement 

· Build and maintain relationships with organisations, partners, and individuals aligned with Hidayah’s mission

· Send thank-you messages to venues, partners, and attendees following events

· Distribute and collect feedback forms, compiling responses to support continuous improvement

· Represent Hidayah at community events and networking opportunities where appropriate

4. Administrative Support 

· Maintain and update the contact database and event records

· Manage the Events Team inbox, responding to or triaging queries promptly

· Attend regular Events Team meetings, contributing updates and ideas

· Track and report on event expenses and participation data as required

What do we expect from the Events Assistant?

Essential: 

· Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills. - Ability to work independently with minimal support but also as part of a team. - Proactive attitude with strong attention to detail. 

· Confident using (or willing to learn) tools such as OutSavvy, Google Suite (Docs, Calendar, Meet), HootSuite, and Discord

· Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of their role in event promotion

· Commitment to Hidayah’s values of inclusion, respect, and community empowerment

Desirable: 

· Experience with Canva or other design tools

· Basic data management or CRM experience 

· Understanding of accessibility and safeguarding in events

· Ability to track budgets or handle basic event finance administration

How much commitment is required?

This is a voluntary role with flexible hours, and can be carried out around your existing commitments. The role will take approximately 3-5 hours per week (flexible depending on needs and availability). 

About the organisation:
Diaspora Woman is a social and cultural organisation dedicated to promoting the empowerment, visibility, and leadership of migrant, Afro-descendant, and Spanish-speaking women in the UK and internationally.

We generate vital spaces for training, connection, and participation for women and families who are survivors of conflict and gender-based violence, as well as Afro-Latin communities and individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities. We drive social change through community organising, education, art, and comprehensive support.

About the Role: 
We are seeking a proactive and committed Volunteer Administrative Assistant to help strengthen our internal structure and increase our impact. This role is crucial for ensuring our data, records, and institutional memory are well-organised, allowing us to focus on our core mission.

Key Functions will include:

• Database Management: Organise and update the database of attendees and participants for training and events.
• Funding Records: Create and maintain a database of potential funding entities.
• Archiving & Digitisation: Systematically classify and digitise our institutional photographic and documentary archives.
• Institutional Memory: Support the overall systematisation and documentation of institutional and project memory.

Your Commitment:

• Hours: 6 to 8 hours per week (flexible).
• Duration: 3 months (with the possibility of extension).
• Location: Hybrid (Remote work + online follow-up meetings every 15 days).
• Supervision: You will be supervised by the Diaspra Woman Coordinator.
• Please note, volunteers will occasionally be required to attend in-person events in London (approximately once every two months), depending on our yearly program schedule.

FareShare Merseyside redistributes quality surplus food to over 232 community-based organisations who are working with vulnerable people across the region and parts of North Wales. What is a Warehouse Assistant?

As a WA, you would sort the food that we receive from our food partners and pick daily orders for charities. It’s a great way to keep fit and all you need is a sturdy pair of hands! 

What will I be doing?

• Working as part of a team to manually sort and store large deliveries of surplus food 
• Helping to assemble the daily deliveries of food for local charities and community groups 
• Making sure the food is within use by dates and handled safely 
• You may also be asked to contact our charity members to talk through the food we have available to create their weekly food order

What we need you to be:

• Able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading 
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills to record quantities and types of food 
• Work well as part of a team 
• Happy to complete tasks independently according to instruction 
• Adaptable – managing surplus can be unpredictable so day to day tasks can vary
•  Positive, friendly, and enthusiastic about tackling food waste and food poverty

• Supporting drivers to complete all relevant paperwork
• Planning routes, sorting food, picking orders, loading and unloading vans 
• Assisting with maintenance of the vans including cleaning

• Good at map reading and/or able to use a Sat Nav system 
• Positive, friendly and enthusiastic about tackling food waste and/or food poverty 
• Able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading

Open Country is a Charity that helps people with disabilities to access and enjoy the countryside. We are always looking for volunteers to support our conservation and gardening groups, walking group and our weekend outings.

- Conservation group meet on a Tuesday and is made up of adults with learning disabilities who carry out practical conservation tasks each week at various locations. We work with organisations like Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and RSPB. Tasks can include meadow creation, tree planting, pond maintenance and invasive species removal to name but a few. 

- Walking group meet on a Thursday and is made up of adults with learning disabilities or sensory impairments. We walk between 5-7miles each week at different locations around Yorkshire and normally finish the walk with a pub or cafe stop. 

- Gardening and arts group meet on a Friday, and is made up of adults with learning disabilities, where we learn about gardening and various natural craft like willow weaving. We also regulary work with organisations like the National Trust and the National Coal Mining Museum.

We also run weekend outings for people with all kinds of disabilities providing experiences and a chance to socialise and explore new places. Our activities range from a gentle amble round a country house and gardens, wildlife watching at a nature reserve to axe throwing and abseiling. 

As a volunteer you would be helping our members stick together as a group, or carry out the conservation tasks, making sure they are happy and safe.

No experience is required, just a willingness to get stuck in! We will provide all relevant training for the role. 

We meet at Thornes Park Nursery, Wakefield at 10am and head out in our accessible minibus to site.

As a Volunteer Sales Assistant, you will be the friendly face of our shop, making donors, customers and supporters feel welcome.
