As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• help set up and/or man stalls at events

• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Role: Audit & Risk Committee Member

Location: London/remote

The Royal College of Pharmacy’s Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) is a sub-committee of the College’s Board of Trustees, established to provide independent oversight of risk management, internal controls, and audit processes.

While the day-to-day management of operational and financial risks is delegated to the College executive, the ARC supports the Board of Trustees to ensure that the College maintains robust systems of internal control, complies with legal and regulatory requirements, and appropriately manages strategic and operational risks.

This is a voluntary role with an estimated time commitment of one day per quarter. This includes attendance in person or by Teams at four meetings annually, plus reading and preparation time. Trustees serve for a term of up to three years with an option for appointment for a further two terms.

Principal duties as a committee member:

• Propose the remit for the audit for approval by the Trustees

• Review, with the auditors, the outcome of the financial audit and any management response – and report to the Trustees

• Assist the Trustees in ensuring the College’s policies and procedures for ensuring legal compliance in all areas are implemented

• Advise the Trustees on the appointment and management of internal auditors or compliance management

• Review the risk register and assess the scope and effectiveness of the systems designed to identify, assess, manage and monitor significant risks and report to the Trustees.

We are seeking applicants with the following skills, knowledge and experience:

• Senior management or director-level experience, ideally as a finance director, company secretary, director of governance, or chief executive

• Risk management and mitigation, including experience in complex organisational environments

• Understanding the distinct role of trustees and operational/executive functions

• Charity or not-for-profit governance

• Risk oversight and compliance monitoring

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Brightside is on a mission to help young people make confident and informed decisions about their future. For over 20 years, we’ve used technology to connect young people facing barriers with inspiring mentors. We deliver online mentoring programmes in collaboration with schools, universities, businesses and charities to provide young people with access to networks, online career information and high-quality mentoring.

We are a small but mighty charity, currently reaching 6,500 young people across the UK a year, but with innovative plans to meet the need of thousands more. To do this we are looking to build on our dynamic board of trustees and have a new position available. Right now, we are looking for a Trustee to join the Board who has deep expertise with marketing and communications. At Brightside we work on marketing to attract young people to become mentees, volunteers to become mentors and partners to fund our services – ranging from commercial organisations to grant funders to schools and universities.

The board of trustees supports the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic direction, guidance and practical advice.

The trustee will play a vital role in giving our staff guidance on building a strong brand for the charity with our limited means and to attract more mentees, mentors and funders. We want to radically improve our marketing to young people and get consistency in our messaging across all channels and platforms. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with brand and performance marketing, particularly in channels we use extensively at Brightside including email, social, brochure / leaflet (e.g. impact reports, funder info collateral) etc. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in youth marketing, social mobility and securing funding for charitable organisations. Having said that, if you do not have all this direct experience do not hesitate to apply if you have strong marketing and comms skills and a strong passion for our mission.

Microbiology Society is looking to find a new voluntary Chair of its Audit, Risk and Evaluation Committee Please see the role description along with the Terms of Reference for the Committee.

The Chair will use their experience and knowledge to provide an external perspective on the delivery of the annual audit; the risk management of the Society’s activities; and the evaluation of those activities.

Would you like to help East Ayrshire Women’s Aid improve the lives of women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse in East Ayrshire? Do you have a willingness to learn, share your skills and work as part of a team? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you might be interested in becoming a Director of East Ayrshire Women’s Aid.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team delivering vital support to vulnerable women, children and young people in East Ayrshire. You do not need to know everything there is to know about domestic abuse, but they do need to know that you are reliable and committed to our principles and values.

The position is voluntary, but East Ayrshire Women’s Aid will provide you with training and support and pay your expenses. The Board meets at least six times a year, usually on Saturday mornings.
