Support manager volunteer roles

MHFA England are seeking a Non-Executive Director to assist in agreeing and supporting MHFA England’s strategy, ensuring the delivery of our overall purpose and mission as a social enterprise.

In addition, the Non-Executive Director will Chair the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, providing oversight and assurance on MHFA England’s financial sustainability, audit and management of risk.

Reasonable travel expenses are covered.

Principal duties
1. Overseeing the delivery of MHFA England’s strategy and performance
2. Protecting the long-term sustainability of MHFA England
3. Safeguarding the reputation of MHFA England
4. Representing MHFA England at collaboration and network events, and contributing to the development of organisational relationships
5. Chairing quarterly Finance and Risk Committee meetings, ensuring effective oversight, support, and challenge
6. Supporting the Board in maintaining strong financial governance, organisational resilience, and risk management
7. Reviewing financial performance, budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial sustainability
8. Overseeing the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls and assurance processes
9. Ensuring key strategic, operational, financial and reputational risks are appropriately identified, monitored, and mitigated
10. Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, wider Executive Team and Board Chair to ensure clear reporting and escalation of risks and issues to support a culture of accountability, transparency, and good governance across the organisation
11. Providing oversight of audit processes and compliance obligations where relevant

Person specification
– Experience chairing or contributing to Finance, Audit or Risk Committees at Board level
– CCAB-qualified accountant (or equivalent) with a strong understanding of financial governance, accounting, reporting, and external audit
– Proven ability to scrutinise management accounts, budgets, cashflow, and forecasts, and to support robust decision-making in a mission-led context
– Experience assessing internal controls and compliance arrangements, and overseeing risk management so that the organisation can pursue opportunities safely and responsibly
– Experience operating at board/committee level, with a clear grasp of good governance practice and how to support an effective, accountable executive team
– An awareness of economic and political changes that may impact MHFA England
– Sound judgement around corporate governance, financial strategy risk, and opportunity
– A commitment to social enterprise and MHFA England’s values and culture
– Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and teamworking skills
– Collaborative, solutions-focused and able to provide healthy and supportive challenge

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR (VOLUNTEER)

THE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR (VOLUNTEER ROLE)

We are seeking a strategic, organised, and hands‑on Operations Director to build the systems, processes, and operational infrastructure that will power MINDSET Charity’s growth across London and the UK.

You will be the engine that turns our ambitious vision into a structured, scalable, and impactful reality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Build the Foundation

• Develop and implement operational strategies, governance structures, and organisational processes.

• Establish the frameworks required for official registration, compliance, and long‑term scalability.

2. Manage Day‑to‑Day Operations

• Oversee administrative, legal, and operational functions across the charity.

• Create efficient workflows, documentation, and systems that support our growing volunteer teams.

3. Shape Program Delivery

• Work closely with the founding team to design and operationalise action‑based outreach programmes, workshops, and wellbeing tools.

• Ensure programmes run smoothly, safely, and consistently across all locations.

4. Drive Growth & Expansion

• Lead the operational logistics behind establishing our physical presence across London.

• Support the development of our digital infrastructure to expand our reach nationwide.

5. Support & Coordinate Teams

• Recruit, organise, and empower volunteer teams across multiple departments.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and purpose.

Changing Men’s Mindsets and Supporting Them On Their Mental Wellbeing And Personal Growth Journey

A charity  based in  Croydon, Surrey, London, UK is looking for volunteer Charity Volunteer Assistants; to volunteer 30 unpaid hours per week. The Charity serves a multi ethnic community especially people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds. 

Responsibilities:

• To assist in the delivery of events (ours and those we are invited to), projects and our yearly summer community event.
• To assist in the daily collection and drop off of Greggs after day produce to various soup kitchens
• To assist in promotion of organisations services. eg flyer distribution, school workshops, etc.
• To assist in the delivery of essential services 
• To assist in our soup kitchen projects

Person Specification:

• Someone enthusiastic and passionate about charity work and committed to working towards the achievements of the charities objectives.
• Knowledege of Black and ethnic minority tradition/culture is preferable however not essential.
• Experience is desirable.

This is a non-paid one year temporary position however accommodation and maintenance will be provided.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid role, based in the UK. We are unfortunately not able to provide support with visa requests.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Broughty Ferry Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

We are seeking individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to join the Advisory Board for CIMSPA’s Workforce Governance and Registration Scheme project.

CIMSPA has been commissioned by Sport England to deliver this ambitious project over a three-year period (2026–2029). The aim is to ensure that everyone participating in sport and physical activity can enjoy safe, high-quality experiences, supported by a skilled and trusted workforce in a positive environment.

The success of this project depends on meaningful collaboration with the sector. This Advisory Board will play a critical role in shaping and supporting its delivery.

As an Advisory Board member, you will provide strategic insight, advice and guidance to CIMSPA, helping to shape the development and implementation of the workforce governance and registration scheme.

You will contribute to key decisions that will have a long-term impact on the sport and physical activity workforce and the organisations that oversee it.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Advisory Board will oversee three core workstreams:

• Ensuring sports are register-ready
• Developing the Registrar function to oversee accredited register holders
• Leading the digital development of a publicly searchable national register

Board members will also contribute to important decisions such as:

• Defining the level of scrutiny applied within the system
• Agreeing monitoring and governance processes
• Shaping and approving the Registrar’s identity, purpose, and structure

Time commitment

• Approximately four meetings per year over an 18-24-month period
• An initial in-person induction/standardisation meeting (where possible)
• Subsequent meetings held remotely, with papers circulated in advance
• Attendance at two national stakeholder events per year

Future opportunity

Over time, this Advisory Board is expected to evolve into the governing board of the appointed organisation responsible for overseeing the scheme (the Registrar).
