Our Cat Fosterers play a vital role by providing a temporary, loving home for cats that are in the care of the RSPCA.
Why we want you
We are the RSPCA South Bucks Branch and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteer fosterers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work by caring for cats and enabling them to be rehomed.
You could be fostering an animal for just a few weeks, or it could be a longer term placement for several months and in a few cases it can be longer.
What you will be doing
Providing care and suitable housing in a safe environment for cats while they are in foster care in accordance with Society policies and guidelines.
Feeding, watering, providing enrichment, socialising and grooming cats (as appropriate).
Liaising with your Cat Co-ordinator regularly. For cats ready for rehoming: sharing photos and videos to the cat coordinator to enable them to raise awareness and rehoming.
If the animal has specific needs you will be supported by your local team of fosterers to enable you to provide the care needed.
Offering a separate room to keep the cat/s in and separate from your own animals.
Some cats may have had surgery and will need a period of cage rest. This will be provided.
Your family/household must be fully supportive (and checked/confirmed that there are no cat allergies within the household).
All members of the household should discuss with their GP whether a tetanus vaccination is required, and make a decision based on this.
Transporting your foster cat safely for vet appointments.
Allowing a potential adopter to enter your home to view a cat up for adoption after they have been assessed by the cat co-ordinator, a volunteer can support you in this.
Completing the local branch paperwork relating to the cats in your care.
The skills you need
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
Previous experience of fostering would be beneficial, and experience caring for cats is essential.
If you have existing cats, they must be spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
If in rented accommodation, permission from the landlord must be obtained.
You must live in South Buckinghamshire or close to Chesham.
Volunteers must complete an online induction, you will need to have basic IT skills and access to a PC or laptop, or have someone who can help you carry out the induction.

About ReMind UK
ReMind UK is an independent charity and an internationally renowned centre for research, diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Our research aims to improve life for people with dementia and their families and carers, and to find drug and non-drug treatments for people with conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other diseases predominantly affecting older people. Our contracted NHS Memory Clinic service, paid for memory assessments, and allied activities also provide direct support to patients, families and carers. We are currently in an ambitious phase of development to increase significantly our clinical and academic research programme. We work closely with the Universities of Bath, Bristol and other research institutions, both nationally and internationally, and with the Royal United Hospital.
Role Title
Trustee (Board Member), ReMind UK
Time Commitment
We hold four full Board meetings per year, and an annual away day.
We currently have one subcommittee which is the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FAC) that meets four times a year should be a part of it.
Board and Committee meetings are generally of 1-2 hours duration. Once a year there is a remuneration meeting, which is a short meeting held directly after the Board meeting.
We engage between meetings via email on issues of relevance to either individual Board members or collectively where appropriate
Trustees are volunteers and may claim eligible expenses.
Role Purpose
Trustees are responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring good governance, and overseeing the charity’s management and administration. The day-to-day running of the organisation is undertaken by the charity CEO and the senior leadership team.
Trustees must act in the charity’s best interests, ensure it is well‑run, and that resources are used effectively to achieve its charitable purposes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Governance
· Ensure the charity has clear priorities, future, and strategic direction.
· Oversee delivery of the charity’s mission to improve diagnosis, care, and research into age‑related disorders.
· Make well‑informed decisions that align with ReMind UK’s charitable objects and the interests of beneficiaries.
· Maintain high standards of governance and accountability.
2. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
· To ensure that the charity complies with its governing document, charity law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
· Act with reasonable care, skill, and diligence in all decision‑making and oversight.
· Manage and declare any conflicts of interest.
3. Financial Oversight
· Ensure the charity is financially sustainable, with adequate controls, appropriate budgeting, responsible use of funds and sound financial planning.
· Support and work with the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee where appropriate and engage in wider discussions around income and expenditure where necessary.
- Safeguard the charity’s assets and ensure funds are spent effectively.
4. Advocacy & Ambassadorship
· Act as an ambassador for ReMind UK’s work in dementia research, memory assessment, and post diagnosis support.
· Promote the importance of early assessment, treatment possibilities, and community‑based support.
· Support relationship‑building with stakeholders, partners, funders, and the wider community.
5. Organisational Support & Risk Management
· The Board have delegated the oversight of the Risk Register to the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FAC), however it is also the responsibility of all trustees to identify and manage organisational risks and hold the FAC to account.
· Ensure effective planning and promote resilience across the charity.
· Support and constructively challenge the CEO and senior leadership team.
Person Specification
Essential:
· Commitment to the vision, mission and values of ReMind UK.
· Understanding of or willingness to learn about trustee responsibilities and charity governance.
· Strategic thinking and strong communication skills.
· Integrity, sound judgement, and independence of thought.
Desirable:
· Experience in health, dementia research, social care, charity finance, legal compliance, fundraising, or lived carer experience.
· Previous charity governance or leadership experience.
Eligibility Requirements
Certain individuals are legally disqualified from becoming charity trustees. Applicants must be 18+.

As the CoP Lead, you will play a pivotal role in guiding St John’s approach to environmental sustainability. You will inspire teams, foster collaboration, and support initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint. Key Responsibilities will be to lead and coordinate the Environmental Sustainability Community of Practice, ensuring alignment with organisational environmental goals. Support Officers and Regional Champions in delivering initiatives, sharing best practices, and engaging volunteers and colleagues. Promote and embed sustainable practices throughout operational and strategic activities. Facilitate co-design of tools, resources, and shared decision-making within the community. Monitor progress against environmental objectives and report on impact to senior leadership. Identify opportunities and champion innovative solutions to enhance sustainability practices. About You Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Experience in environmental sustainability, community development, or related practice. Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage volunteers and colleagues at all levels. Strong organisational and communication skills. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, environmental standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001, Net Zero initiatives). Ability to analyse and present sustainability-related data (optional). Autistic Parents UK is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our incredible team. We are a fully user-led registered charity, offering peer support, webinars, training, signposting and resources on lived Autistic parenthood.
We welcome anyone who would like to offer their time alongside us in our aim to support people at whatever stage they are at with their understanding of Autism and being Autistic. We want to proactively address all factors that cause barriers to entry for those involved in the running of APUK and those who access support. By joining Autistic Parents UK as a volunteer, you will be part of a compassionate and diverse community that strives to empower Autistic families.
This role involves supporting small, topic-based video peer support groups for Autistic parents . Volunteers work alongside a lead peer supporter, acting as a second group supporter to help sessions run smoothly and ensure participants feel welcomed, supported, and able to take part.
The role focuses on peer support, shared experience, and gentle co-facilitation, rather than leading or moderating the group.
Key Responsibilities:

Attend scheduled video peer support group sessions alongside a lead peer supporter.

Support the facilitation of group discussions by encouraging participation and helping conversations flow naturally.

Help create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment where participants feel safe to share.

Offer empathetic peer support and appropriate contributions based on lived experience, where relevant.

Provide light technical support during sessions where needed (for example, helping participants with audio, video, or platform features).

Support group structure by helping to keep discussions aligned with the session topic and time boundaries.

Raise any wellbeing, safeguarding, or technical concerns to the lead peer supporter or staff member as appropriate.
What We Are Looking For:

Confidence using video meeting platforms (such as Zoom/Google Meet or similar), or willingness to learn.

Support and Matching:
You will be supported by a lead peer supporter during sessions, with training, guidance, and ongoing support provided. We aim to match volunteers with group topics that align with their interests and experiences wherever possible. Groups include EHCP's and Working with professionals, Parenting Teens, 0-5's. We are particularly keen to hear from people who would be able to support a group for those who identify as "Dad's and Father's"
This is a flexible, remote volunteering opportunity. Volunteers are asked to attend agreed video sessions, with regular or occasional commitment discussed in advance. Expected time commitment 1-2 hours a month.
