Helping in our shops is a great way to help CHAS and, as well as helping us raise money to fund our vital services, you'll be part of a really great team of volunteers. You'll be meeting new people, using your skills or learning something new, and making sure our customers get a great welcome and all the assistance they need.
It's always great to see our volunteers chatting to customers and telling them about CHAS - and there's so much more to this role too: you could be sorting donations, getting stock ready for the shop floor, wielding a steamer or a duster, processing Gift Aid, operating the till (we will show you how), merchandising and displaying stock - you'll never have a dull moment.
It would be ideal if you could volunteer one shift each week, which is about four hours (but we're also happy to chat about more flexible times). Trustee
We're looking for a Trustee to be part of a school trust helping to shape strategy, strengthen governance and support positive outcomes for children and young people.
Position: Trustee
Salary: This is a voluntary role however expenses can be paid in line with the allowances policy
Location: Derby - Meetings are in person, but with an online option. Being local to Derby, or at least having an understanding of the community is important.
Closing date: 29th June
Time commitment: Around 8 meetings a year, mostly in the evening. Plus visit schools during the school day about twice a year.
About the role:
As a Trustee, you will be responsible for governing a charitable company and directing how it is managed and run. Trustees must also ensure that the trust complies with all legal and statutory requirements. The trust board works closely with the CEO and other executives. The CEO and colleagues are responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the trust and its schools, whereas the role of the board is strategic.

What does the role involve?
Working in ever changing environment Active Response Volunteers respond to demands across a site. The role is very varied and involves:
• Helping staff prepare documents at essential times, including creating and printing
• Helping staff with basic information entry and calls
• Helping set up and maintain meeting rooms
• Helping collect/deliver items between teams and nearby sites
• Surge support during event days at the Head office
• Keeping things organised on the go such as keeping the kitchen area clear, supporting sustainability actions like switching off lights
• Supporting staff with lunch and refreshment runs
• Supporting staff with simple wellbeing initiatives that help break the day via active response initiatives
• Attend a site meeting every 3 months with staff regarding site updates and contribute to ideas for active response volunteering solutions.
• Help develop awareness of the new active response service and proactively find tasks too.
• There may also be opportunities to get involved in other areas of the Trust’s work, including our NHS careers
Exclusions:
• Volunteers will not carry out clinical duties (i.e. doing the tasks which the staff have been trained to do.
• Supporting patients directly (this role is based in the Head office where direct patient care is not delivered).

Our Cat Fosterers play a vital role by providing a temporary, loving home for cats that are in the care of the RSPCA.
Why we want you
We are the RSPCA South Bucks Branch and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteer fosterers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work by caring for cats and enabling them to be rehomed.
You could be fostering an animal for just a few weeks, or it could be a longer term placement for several months and in a few cases it can be longer.
What you will be doing
Providing care and suitable housing in a safe environment for cats while they are in foster care in accordance with Society policies and guidelines.
Feeding, watering, providing enrichment, socialising and grooming cats (as appropriate).
Liaising with your Cat Co-ordinator regularly. For cats ready for rehoming: sharing photos and videos to the cat coordinator to enable them to raise awareness and rehoming.
If the animal has specific needs you will be supported by your local team of fosterers to enable you to provide the care needed.
Offering a separate room to keep the cat/s in and separate from your own animals.
Some cats may have had surgery and will need a period of cage rest. This will be provided.
Your family/household must be fully supportive (and checked/confirmed that there are no cat allergies within the household).
All members of the household should discuss with their GP whether a tetanus vaccination is required, and make a decision based on this.
Transporting your foster cat safely for vet appointments.
Allowing a potential adopter to enter your home to view a cat up for adoption after they have been assessed by the cat co-ordinator, a volunteer can support you in this.
Completing the local branch paperwork relating to the cats in your care.
The skills you need
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
Previous experience of fostering would be beneficial, and experience caring for cats is essential.
If you have existing cats, they must be spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
If in rented accommodation, permission from the landlord must be obtained.
You must live in South Buckinghamshire or close to Chesham.
Volunteers must complete an online induction, you will need to have basic IT skills and access to a PC or laptop, or have someone who can help you carry out the induction.

Hospital Visitor Volunteer
Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate. The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake.
This role entails weekly visits to either Townsend Court and Poplar Wards (Luton) on Fridays 1-4 or Fountains Court (Bedford) on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
As a hospital volunteer, you might:
hold drop-in sessions
attend events and ward meetings at local facilities
share information
assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre
Support Session Volunteer
You’ll be supporting people over the age of 18 with disabilities, this may include those with poor mental health, learning difficulties, autism and other disabilities. Your role will include supporting clients to understand and undertake a task on a one-to-one basis. The task will vary from client to client as will the needs of the individual.
As a support session volunteer, you might:
help people have their say when it matters most
Helping individuals navigate challenges and ensuring their needs are met
help people to make complaints and use local services
All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00. You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

That’s why we’re trialling a new online Advice Forum to help improve access to support and flexibility of our volunteer roles. But before we can make the forum public, we need to bring in a team of volunteers who are ready and waiting to answer questions.
We are looking for knowledgable HR professionals who want to tackle the Motherhood Penaltyand support mothers and parents by becoming an Advice Forum Volunteer.
As a volunteer advisor you’ll give an hour a week of your time to respond to questions on the Advice Forum. You’ll use your HR knowledge and experience to respond to posts and give advice that can help people identify and challenge pregnancy and maternity discrimination in the workplace. You’ll also be joining us at the start of this brand new service and will have an essential role in helping us monitor, evaluate and learn from the forum trial, with the goal of establishing it as a permanent PTS Support Service.

Time Commitment
The Advice Forum will be available online 24/7, and so volunteering as a forum advisor is flexible and can fit around your schedule. We ask that you are able to commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of three months.
Alternative time commitments can be considered and discussed, so please do include any information that might be useful in your application form.
Main Role Purpose
Advice Forum Volunteers play a vital role in providing accessible support and guidance to working parents facing unfair treatment or discrimination in the workplace. Volunteers will respond to forum questions and posts, offering advice and signposting information about employee rights. You will also coordinate with the PTS staff team and other volunteers to ensure all forum questions are responded to, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the forum’s development.
Essential requirements
• Minimum CIPD level 5 Diploma in People Management with one professional reference.
• Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and policies related to pregnancy, maternity leave, and discrimination.
• Access to a reliable and secure WIFI or Internet connection and a mobile device or computer/laptop.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Comfortable using online communication tools.
• Commitment to completing all required volunteer training.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to forum questions from individuals seeking support and advice.
• Provide HR advice and guidance in a clear and concise way to support forum users with their enquiries.
• Signpost to further information and other support organisations if necessary.
• Maintain professionalism in all interactions, adhering to all Pregnant Then Screwed guidelines and policies.
• Complete all training required by PTS.
