About the opportunity

We need dedicated volunteers to join our friendly team at our store on Wilton Road in the popular shopping area of Victoria. If you have a passion for fashion (especially second-hand), amazing customer service skills and you are keen to learn new skills, then this opportunity is for you. As a volunteer you will also be involved in receiving, sorting, steaming, and pricing our lovely donations, serving at the till, and using your creativity to create displays around the shop. Training will be provided. As a volunteer, you will be helping to raise money for the Octavia Foundation and support the work we do in the local community.

We’re looking for friendly, outgoing volunteers to help at our monthly social group meetings. These gatherings are a lifeline for many of our members living with combined sight and hearing loss — offering connection, laughter, and a safe space to make new friends.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Group Volunteer, you’ll be the welcoming face that makes our members feel at home. Your role might include:

• Greeting members with a warm smile

• Helping with lunch and refreshments

• Spending time chatting and socialising

• Supporting members with mobility or guiding, if needed

Our Bridgend group meets every second Friday of the month from 11.00am to 1.00pm — just two hours to brighten someone’s day!

Portland Charity is currently recruiting for at least 3 trustee positions following the retirement of two trustees and a review of the skills mix of our current Board.

Portland Charity has been operating for 75 years from a beautiful woodland campus in the heart of historic Sherwood Forest. Our Further Education College is one of the UK’s leading specialist colleges for disabled people, rated Outstanding by Ofsted and holding Advanced Accreditation status from the National Autistic Society. We also operate highly regarded residential and day adult social care services, a multi-award winning community adult education programme and an active theatre and activities outreach programme. Every year we make a positive difference to lives of hundreds of disabled people and those with mental health difficulties.

Our trustee board play a pivotal role in keeping us at the top of our game and we are now seeking to appoint new trustees with specific expertise in one of the following areas:

• Legal services
• Adult social care
• People development and management
• Mental health support

Our Board meets 4 times per year and most trustees also support one of our sub-committees or working groups (Audit, Remuneration, Quality & Standards, Finance and Estates Planning).

We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience (personal or family and friends) of disability and/or mental health issues. A personal induction, Governor Handbook, access to free training courses and buddying are all provided.

We welcome people with no previous, or limited, experience of a non-executive role. Out of pocket expenses can be paid.

We run free virtual and in-person peer support meetings for adults facing life’s difficult moments, particularly bereavement. 

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about using social media for good? This is your chance to use your skills to support people through one of life's most difficult experiences.

You'll help us spread our message that nobody should face grief alone, connect people to our free virtual and in-person peer support meetings, and grow an online community built on openness and compassion. You'll receive regular check-ins and guidance from a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator, free safeguarding training, and a reference letter upon completion, all while building real, meaningful experience in the rewarding charity sector.

This role is ideal for students, recent graduates, or career changers looking to build experience in charity communications or digital media.

What You'll Do

• Create social media posts in line with our brand tone: inclusive, warm, and sensitive to the subject of bereavement
• Schedule and post updates about weekly peer support meetings and events
• Help plan simple campaigns or awareness posts around key dates (Mental Health Awareness Week, Grief Awareness Week, World Suicide Prevention Day, etc.)
• Contribute creative ideas to help our mission reach more people online
• Communicate regularly with your coordinator and flag any challenges early

• An interest in mental health, bereavement support, or nonprofit communications
• Confidence using social media (Instagram)

In this Head of Department capacity, you will gain the leadership credentials and strategic oversight necessary to advance your professional trajectory while ensuring our organisation’s voice remains authoritative, evidence-based, and impactful.

Role Purpose

The Head of Research sits between Directors and Managers, turning high-level investigative goals into clear, deliverable research plans. You own the direction, methodology, and delivery control of the Research department to ensure that all reports, white papers, and data sets are produced with academic rigour, accuracy, and pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Research Planning: Turning Director objectives into practical research schedules, including literature reviews, data collection phases, and report drafting.

• Manager Leadership: Coaching Research Managers to coordinate field work and data analysis effectively, ensuring all project components are visible in MeisterTask.

• Assurance & Quality Control: Reducing rework by refining research methodologies and ensuring all outputs are fact-checked and peer-reviewed before reaching the final sign-off stage.

• Director Reporting: Providing weekly reports on the research pipeline (active studies, pending analysis, and upcoming publications), WIP status, and risks to project timelines.

• Culture & Standards: Ensuring all research activities align with ethical guidelines, data protection standards, and Quilombo UK’s professional values.

Requirements

• Proven experience in research management, academic research, or social science investigation.

• Degree in Social Sciences, Research Methods, Humanities, or a related field is a plus.

Impact Communications & Content Strategist

We are looking for a volunteer Impact Communications & Content Strategist to help shape how we communicate our work globally.

Red Diamond Compost develops regenerative agricultural solutions by converting organic and invasive biomass into high-performance inputs that rebuild soil health and strengthen climate resilience. Our work includes field trials, farmer training through the Journey to 1000 Acres initiative, and international research collaborations.

This role will focus on guiding our overall content and messaging strategy using a “pillar-to-micro” content model, where long-form content (field updates, talks, research insights) is structured and repurposed into multiple formats across platforms.

Responsibilities may include:

• Identifying strong content opportunities from our work (field trials, research, insights)
• Developing clear messaging and storytelling frameworks
• Helping structure content for multi-platform distribution (LinkedIn, video, blog)
• Guiding how technical results are communicated to broader audiences
• Supporting consistency in brand voice and positioning

This role is ideal for someone interested in climate innovation, storytelling, and helping translate real-world impact into clear, compelling narratives.

We are Buttons & Bubbles C.I.C. We aim to increase inclusion and representation for the disability community across society. We have several different services including bespoke characters, workshops, free resources, events, sensory trails and more. 

As we continue to grow, we are on a mission to make finding and accessing information around everything to do with disability easier. Hence, we're putting together a brand-new team of volunteers who are passionate about content and using the power of social media for good

What you will contribute

Arrange appointments for Crew who are ill or need exams or check-ups

Maintain accurate Crew health records and adequate stock levels of supplies

Maintain universal precautions at all times

Record, track and administer immunizations of incoming and current longer term Crew

Facilitate tuberculosis screenings for Crew and Day Crew

Give regular health talks to inform Crew about Crew Clinic services and common illnesses and risks

Assist with the Duty Nurse roster to provide after-hour coverage for Crew when the Crew Clinic and Hospital are closed

Identify and facilitate maintenance of all non-marine first-aid kits on the ship and at the Education, Training, and Advocacy program support facilities

For This Role, You Will Need

Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding program

Registered Nurse or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner with current licensure in home country

Minimum two years’ experience following licensure

Some pediatric experience required

Current Basic Life Support certification is required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are optional

Fluent in English; French is beneficial

 We create sensory activities, challenges and games featuring our bespoke disabled characters and take them to a variety of events and other organisations. And this is where you come in! We need volunteers to do lots of different jobs from big too small. Whether it's preparing activities, setting up, speaking to people or helping pack up, there's plenty to do.

What do we need from you?

What can you expect from us?

- We don't currently ask us our volunteers to be on a rota. Your time is precious and we are thankful for however much you are willing to give to us.

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join us every Tuesday from 9:30am to 12:30pm to support our vibrant daytime activity sessions for people with a learning disability at Mencap. Every Tuesday brings something new: you could be getting involved in gardening, arts and crafts, cooking and so much more. As a volunteer, you’ll help set up activities, chat with attendees, encourage people to take part and create a warm welcoming atmosphere. If you enjoy meeting new people, trying new things and making a positive difference, we’d love to hear from you!

You don’t have to have experience in any or all of the sessions we run, just willing to keep an open mind and a friendly attitude.
