Aim of this role
Research and Campaigns volunteers support our work to change the policies and practice that affect the lives of our clients.

As an R&C volunteer, you will be a part of the R&C team. You will:

• complete an induction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

• keep up-to-date with trends of the concerns affecting clients locally as well as areas identified by national Citizens Advice, and raise call for evidence

• research and gather quality information on key issues affecting local residents

• ensure all volunteers/staff are aware of the purpose of Research and Campaigns and how to write evidence forms

• produce useful, appealing and easily accessible campaign materials and publications for information purposes

• feed back to assessors and advisers on the results of their work and provide them with assistance in completing evidence forms

• help national Citizens Advice to carry out research about how certain issues affect clients in your local area

• gather case studies and client stories

• ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted in our R&C work

• adhere to Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth’s (CAML) aims and principles

• comply with all relevant GDPR rules and regulations

Locations

This role is based in our Mitcham office with some occasional traveling to our other offices in Morden and Kennington. All three offices are well-connected to public transport, and the office in Mitcham has a car park.

We will reimburse all reasonable out of pocket travel and lunch expenses.

What we are looking for

• excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential

• the ability to give feedback clearly and sensitively

• ability to work on own initiative, within given guidelines

• confidence in using a range of IT software to research and analyse data

Satisfactory references are required before joining the charity.

We are looking for volunteers who are able come to our office for at least one day per week.

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.
• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.

About the REMAP:

Since 1964, REMAP has helped thousands of people each year overcome everyday challenges through innovative, bespoke solutions. When standard commercial products are not suitable, REMAP volunteers design and make one-off equipment tailored to a person’s individual needs. Our work is delivered through more than 65 volunteer-run branches across the UK and is completely free of charge for the people we support.

About the role:

REMAP is looking for Volunteer Makers who can use practical, technical or creative skills to design and make bespoke equipment for disabled people. Previous REMAP solutions designed by our volunteers have included adapted handles, specialist supports, modified furniture, access aids and other one-off items designed around a person’s individual needs. You can find more inspiring solutions on REMAP's website on the Solutions section. 

We are looking for volunteers: 

• With skills or experience in engineering, carpentry, DIY, product design, electronics, metalwork, plastics, workshop practice or practical problem-solving.
• With access to own tools or workshop .
• Who live in the area of your local Branch and have access to transport.
• Who are able to listen carefully, work safely, think creatively and treat people with dignity and respect
• With an understanding of risk management and who can follow set policies and procedures

What will you be doing:

You will take on practical cases that match your skills and availability. This may include meeting clients, speaking with families or therapists, understanding a practical challenge, and designing or making a safe solution using materials such as wood, metal, plastic or electronics.

What difference will you make:

Your volunteering and solutions will help disabled people overcome everyday barriers and enjoy greater independence, confidence and choice. Many REMAP projects are modest in size but life-changing in impact for the person receiving them.

Salary: 

This is a voluntary role. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Support:

Induction, mentoring, local branch support and guidance on safe working are provided. DBS checks are arranged where required.

Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help cats. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

 What we need from you

You’ll be:

· planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances

· providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events

· encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.
