About Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust:

Since 1988, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) has worked collaboratively to preserve, enhance, and increase understanding of the historic environment of the area, through a wide remit encompassing historic building conservation and archaeology. 

PKHT achieved their objectives through the delivery of projects, the provision of grants, information, and advice, and through a programme of outreach and training activities. The Organisations current key projects include the transformative work of the Perth City Heritage Fund, and an exciting new programme of community archaeology which will aim to engage communities across all of Perth and Kinross. Their aims are to maintain and enhance sense of place; provide a learning resource for local communities; and to build sustainable economic development through improvements and events for both local residents and visitors. 

Perth and Kinross has a rich physical heritage of archaeological sites and historic buildings and PKHT is committed to delivering projects and activities that increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the historic environment for everyone. Supported by a range of funders, the outreach and learning activities are often delivered through funded projects such as the King’s Seat Hillfort Archaeology Project, while They also co-ordinate the Doors Open Days programme for the area.

Trustee Details:

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is currently seeking new trustees for their board and, to sustain their invaluable work, are inviting new board members, who have the right skills, experience, and time to take on the role effectively and impactfully, as well as sharing an affinity with their aspirations to safeguard local heritage and promote it to a wider audience.

The trust are keen to hear from people who have skills in buildings conservation, marketing and social media, legal and finance, IT and General Fundraising but would welcome expressions of interest from others who share a passion for what the area has to offer - and what is still to be uncovered. People who live further afield from the area are also encouraged to apply, especially if they bring similar experiences from further afield. The Trust is also keen to diversify its board and welcomes applications from younger candidates from a range of backgrounds.

In addition, candidates who are willing to progress to take on the Chair role are encouraged to apply. The current Chair has decided that following several years’ service it is now time to step back from this role. The PKHT board are keen to hear from any candidate who feels they have the skills and experience, and time available for the Chair role. A charity  based in  Croydon, Surrey, London, UK is looking for volunteer Charity Volunteer Assistants; to volunteer 30 unpaid hours per week. The Charity serves a multi ethnic community especially people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds.

About YAUK

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.

Please note that this is a remote VOLUNTEER role.

Responsibilities

• As the Senior HR Officer in our Volunteer Relations team, you will be reporting directly to the HR Manager, as well as oversee the day-to-day management of volunteer relations across our organisation, ensuring the  smooth execution of policies and adherence to the Volunteer Handbook. Your role involves being the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing queries, and resolving issues promptly while upholding the organisation’s standards and values.

Duties

1. Exit Management

• Facilitate seamless volunteer offboarding processes, including conducting structured exit interviews to identify areas of improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of exits to inform retention and engagement strategies.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies during volunteer departures.

2. Volunteer Inactivity Management

• Monitor volunteer activity levels and implement inactivity management procedures in collaboration with line managers.
• Maintain updated records to track and report volunteer activity trends.

3. Grievance and Conflict Resolution

• Implement and manage an efficient grievance procedure to handle volunteer concerns professionally and promptly.
• Ensure impartiality and transparency in addressing grievances, collaborating with relevant stakeholders for resolution.
• Collaborate with the L&D team to provide periodic training for volunteers and managers on grievance handling and conflict resolution.

4. Policy Execution and Compliance

• Act as the primary custodian of the Volunteer Handbook, ensuring volunteers are well-informed about organisational policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with organisational guidelines and address any violations in consultation with the HR Manager.
• Partner with the Policy team to update the Volunteer Handbook periodically to reflect regulatory changes and organisational needs.

5. Volunteer Relations

• Serve as the first point of contact for volunteers, addressing their queries and concerns to foster a positive environment.
• Actively promote inclusivity and diversity in all volunteer-related activities.

6. Compliance and Reporting

• Ensure all volunteer-related activities comply with organisational and legal standards.
• Prepare regular reports on the approved Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including challenges and support needed.

Our charity shop in the heart of SW17 7TW is looking for a friendly volunteer to join our team and help make our shop a huge success. Make new friends, have fun, and help us help more animals!

As a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant, you would join a small team working with the shop manager and 1-2 other volunteers to help make it a success and raise vital funds for animal welfare.

About Our Charity Shop

The shop plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community and funds for our branch so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items. We have positions available on the shop floor and in our stock room or you could volunteer to do a mixture of both.

Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant responsibilities

• Helping customers in the shop find what they need.
• Accepting donations of items and money from the public.
• Processing sales through the till and card machine, including Gift Aid.
• Sorting through donated items to determine what we can sell.
• Preparing donated items for sale by steaming and hanging and items.
• Merchandising stock on the shop floor.
• Creating attractive shop window displays.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant

• Friendly volunteers who are confident talking to people.
• Retail experience would be ideal but is not necessary as full training will be given.

Join us in making a real difference to the lives of animals in need.

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

The Widening Participation Officer tries to recruit, engage and support as many 16-18 year old volunteers as possible across all of our chapters, with particular focus on those that’d benefit the most from additional WP volunteers, often those
chapters doing the most events.

Due to the sizable scope of the role, the WP Subcommittee is there to help as needed. This is primarily through admin work. You should ensure that you have a suitable number of keen volunteers within the subcommittee that you can delegate tasks to, ensuring that they were well informed, supported and any tasks followed up. This is likely to involve plenty of messaging and occasional meetings.

A primary part of the role that you can delegate is to conceptualise and write the policy for managing 16-18 year old volunteers. This should have a focus on appropriate safeguarding and you can get input from the subcommittee and other Trustees/Officers but should include things like recruitment methods, required paperwork, risk assessments, management at events etc. These policies need to then be communicated effectively to committee and volunteers. 

There are several ways that WP volunteers should be recruited. Schools/6th Forms should be proactively reached out to and a long-term connection formed, ideally through a named person such as a head of year, head of medicine applications or career progression advisor. They can then pass the information on to their students using a range of methods ranging from email to sending a video to, if the local chapter is keen or a member of the subcommittee is nearby, an  in-person visit to an assembly or lunchtime/after-school training session.  

Efforts should be made to build relationships with National bodies that provide volunteering or work experience to 16-18 year olds such as In2MedSchool and Medic Mentor, working closely with them to advertise our volunteering to their
students. 

Once students are interested, they should be able to register as volunteers and attend an Introduction Training session. This can be a WP-specific session with particular focus on benefits and support for WP volunteers such as Duke of Edinburgh hours.

Once volunteers are involved, they should be supported through their time with us including email updates, check-ins, social media posts and training sessions around key times such as university applications.

Finally, of particular note, you should work with the Conference Officer to ensure that WP volunteers are supported in attending the Annual National Conference, in a safe way and have talks of interest to them.
 

Mencap’s goal is to make the UK the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to lead happy and healthy lives. To help us with this, we are currently looking for a volunteer to help support a person with a learning disability to travel to meetings or events.

The Travel Buddy Volunteer will support a Voices Council member who is a person with a learning disability (and possibly other disabilities) to attend a Voices Council meeting 4 times a year to travel from Wales to London and one regional meeting a year that is not in London. 

As a Travel Buddy Volunteer, you’ll support one person to attend:
• Four national Voices Council meetings a year in London
• One regional meeting a year in a different UK location

Even if you can only commit to one meeting a year, we would absolutely love to hear from you. Every bit of support makes a huge difference.

This role involves travelling with her on public transport the day before the meeting, staying overnight in a hotel, and supporting the person to get to Mencap’s London office on the day of the meeting. But it’s so much more than a journey of A to B, you’ll be:

• Enabling the Voices Council member to show up, share their voice, and shape decisions at Mencap
• Helping the Voices Council member to feel confident, calm and safe during the journey
• Encouraging the Voices Council member to build skills to travel more confidently over time

This is an ad-hoc opportunity with plenty of advance notice, giving you the flexibility to volunteer when you are able. All travel and hotel expenses for both you and the journey and the person you are supporting will be covered.

8-9 September

24-25 November

You’ll also have free time to explore London for the day while the member attends her meeting.

We are looking for a patient and caring volunteer to visit a man in his early 60s who lives in a supported living home in central Coventry. He enjoys going to watch the football, woodwork and crafts, gentle walks, and watching sports and films.

Out and About Role

This is an Out and about visit role which means your visits are likely to be longer, very active and the person you visit will often take an active part in planning your outings and activities in the community. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around a couple of hours, sometimes shorter or longer, depending on what you plan to do.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:

• Sitting and having a chat
• Checking in on their well- being

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
