Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Centre Manager

The Teignbridge Heritage Centre is a focal point for recording the history and culture of our local environment.  The museum has a large collection of historical and contemporary artifacts including the remains of the French invasion and sacking of Teignmouth in 1690.  It also offers comprehensive research and archive access to a large collection of historical artifacts and data.

Applications are invited for the post of Centre Manager

This voluntary role is key to the smooth running and viability of the Museum and carries responsibility for most aspects of the day-to-day coordination and administration of the Centre.  Much of the role’s responsibilities can be handled online with a nominal ½ day a week on duty at the Museum.

Ideal applicants will be able to bring business experience and flexibility to handle a range of responsibilities and a team of volunteers.  Well-developed administrative and delegation skills, possibly acquired from a management role in industry or commerce, will be a distinct advantage.

Inpatient Mealtime Support Volunteer

Role Summary

We are looking for volunteers to assist our kitchen staff in general kitchen tasks and in delivering meals and refreshments to our patients. We are looking for volunteers that are able to help us during the times listed opposite. This role requires someone with good communication and empathy skills.

Key Responsibilities

• To deliver meals and refreshments to our patients
• To set up trays and push the trolley to the inpatient Unit
• To provide a warm, friendly, compassionate and sensitive service
• Good communication skills to be able to communicate to patients, families and staff in a respectful and courteous manner

You will be assisted by our Facilities team leaders who will ensure that you have all the support you require to carry out the role.

Communications:

The Facilities team leaders will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

Key Responsibilities
 
 Welcome guests on arrival with a friendly and professional approach.

 Provide general event information and answer basic guest queries.

ZAKKI is a social startup focusing on creating an inclusive community for the elderly and people with disabilities. Our mission is to facilitate alms and donations collection and distribution to help the elderly and people with disabilities who work in the informal sector to get better livelihood through micro-business management, giving them greater market exposure.

We are still redesigning ZAKKI fully function product. We are expecting to develop the ZAKKI fully function product in the upcoming years.

The AGILE PROJECT MANAGER will manage either the UIUX Designer team or Developer team. He/She will collaborate with the Team Lead of the respective team to manage and lead the project.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the decided-upon timeline, and scope. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, and project team members.
 
Responsibilities
 •  Set project timeline
 •  Monitor project deliverables and manage the project documentation in one place.
 •  Update relevant stakeholders and team members on the project progress
 •  Coach and support project team members with tasks you assign them

General Requirement:

• • Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
• • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
• • In-depth knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence
• • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools:
• ⁃ Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Asana or equivalent
• ⁃ Google Suite, all Office Tools
• • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
• • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view

Specific Requirement:
Knowledge of one or more of these skills below is preferred;

• Knowledge on UI/UX Designing process
• Able to use versioning control system such as GIT, GitLab, Github.
• Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met

• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

The skills you need

• Be friendly and approachable.
• Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.
• Basic IT skills would be an advantage.
