Role Summary

We are looking for volunteers to assist our kitchen staff in general kitchen tasks and in delivering meals and refreshments to our patients. We are looking for volunteers that are able to help us during the times listed opposite. This role requires someone with good communication and empathy skills.

Key Responsibilities

• To deliver meals and refreshments to our patients
• To set up trays and push the trolley to the inpatient Unit
• To provide a warm, friendly, compassionate and sensitive service
• Good communication skills to be able to communicate to patients, families and staff in a respectful and courteous manner

Training requirements:

As a IPU Meal Support Volunteer you will complete the following training:

• Teesside Hospice mandatory training
• Volunteer induction training

Support and supervision:

You will be assisted by our Facilities team leaders who will ensure that you have all the support you require to carry out the role.

Communications:

The Facilities team leaders will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

Job Description

SAPUK is looking for volunteers to assist with our support services, which run daily from 6am to 11pm. Volunteers will engage through our instant messaging support line, which operates via Meta and offers anonymous communication via our website. The service is managed through a free app, available for download on all smart devices.

Over the years, our dedicated team has supported countless individuals, helping them overcome feelings of distress and guiding them away from the darkness. As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a compassionate team, committed to providing life-changing support.

SAPUK offers regular training to help volunteers enhance their skills and gain invaluable experience. Volunteers will become part of a supportive, collaborative team that prioritizes mental health and the well-being of both those we serve and our volunteers.

Volunteer Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 hours per week (one shift, or split into two 3-hour shifts).
• Flexible shift options to fit your schedule, with shifts ranging from 6am to 11pm.
• We’re looking for individuals who can commit to at least one shift per week, though we’ll work to accommodate your availability.

Application Process:

• You must be based in the UK (no overseas applications accepted).
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are required.
• Strong proficiency in English is essential.
• Successful candidates will be contacted to complete an application and confidentiality form and provide two references (one work-related, one educational or work-related).
• Following the submission of the forms and references, we’ll arrange a call to discuss the role, then provide you with a training video.
• Volunteers will be added to our WhatsApp groups, and you’ll begin shadowing more experienced team members before taking on your own chats.
• Shadowing typically requires 9-18 hours, depending on your confidence level.

Centre Manager

The Teignbridge Heritage Centre is a focal point for recording the history and culture of our local environment.  The museum has a large collection of historical and contemporary artifacts including the remains of the French invasion and sacking of Teignmouth in 1690.  It also offers comprehensive research and archive access to a large collection of historical artifacts and data.

This voluntary role is key to the smooth running and viability of the Museum and carries responsibility for most aspects of the day-to-day coordination and administration of the Centre.  Much of the role’s responsibilities can be handled online with a nominal ½ day a week on duty at the Museum.

Role Summary: 

We’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join our event support team. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key part in creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for our guests. Tasks may include welcoming and directing attendees, assisting with registration and seating, supporting activity areas (such as the casino, photo booth, or auctions), and providing general help throughout the evening.

Key Responsibilities
 
 Welcome guests on arrival with a friendly and professional approach.
 Guide guests to seating, activity areas, restrooms, bars and exits as needed.
 Support themed event zones (e.g., casino tables, photo booth, raffle/auction areas)
 Provide general event information and answer basic guest queries.
 Monitor assigned areas to ensure safety, comfort and smooth guest flow.

 Help with the setup and reset of materials, signage, and activity stations where required.

Training requirements:

As a Annual Ball Volunteer you will complete the following training:

• Teesside Hospice mandatory training
• Volunteer induction training
• Any other training identified as appropriate to the role

Support and supervision:

Your first line of support and for any enquiries will be Tilly Roberts to support you in your role. 

Communications:

Tilly Roberts (Events and Community Manager) will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.

• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.
