Role Summary:
We’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join our event support team. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key part in creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for our guests. Tasks may include welcoming and directing attendees, assisting with registration and seating, supporting activity areas (such as the casino, photo booth, or auctions), and providing general help throughout the evening.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome guests on arrival with a friendly and professional approach.
Guide guests to seating, activity areas, restrooms, bars and exits as needed.
Support themed event zones (e.g., casino tables, photo booth, raffle/auction areas)
Provide general event information and answer basic guest queries.
Monitor assigned areas to ensure safety, comfort and smooth guest flow.
Communicate any issues or questions promptly to the event manager or supervisor.
Help with the setup and reset of materials, signage, and activity stations where required.
Encourage guest participation in fundraising, raffles or competitions.
Maintain a professional, approachable, and positive attitude throughout the event.

About this key role
As Volunteer Education Project Coordinator, you’ll take the lead on coordinating project bookings, managing communication with schools and partners, and ensuring smooth delivery of the SOS+ service through first-class administrative, data, and logistical support. Food banks provide three-day emergency food parcels for people in crisis, working in partnership with organisations across the community. Drivers play a fundamental role in the running of the food bank, collecting food donations from a variety of locations such as supermarkets or churches across the local area as well as distributing the sorted donations from the warehouse to the local food bank centres. Helping in our shops is a great way to help CHAS and, as well as helping us raise money to fund our vital services, you'll be part of a really great team of volunteers. You'll be meeting new people, using your skills or learning something new, and making sure our customers get a great welcome and all the assistance they need.
It's always great to see our volunteers chatting to customers and telling them about CHAS - and there's so much more to this role too: you could be sorting donations, getting stock ready for the shop floor, wielding a steamer or a duster, processing Gift Aid, operating the till (we will show you how), merchandising and displaying stock - you'll never have a dull moment.
It would be ideal if you could volunteer one shift each week, which is about four hours (but we're also happy to chat about more flexible times). Our Young Ambassadors programme, for 18 – 25 year olds, is built on diversity. As a Young Ambassador, you’ll play a big role in representing The Charity and standing up for young people affected by brain tumours. Practical considerations
This is a voluntary role with a term of up to two years, though we understand circumstances may change and you may need to step away earlier.

Induction: You’ll start with a 2-day induction on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April at our office in Fleet, Hampshire

In-person meetings: Two further in person events will take place during the two-year programme. These have previously included training days and residential.

Online meetings: We’ll meet monthly on Microsoft Teams during a weekday evening

Other opportunities: You can choose activities that fit your interests, availability, and preferences. These will be shared via Volunteero, our volunteer app, which all Involvement Champions use. Opportunities may take place on both weekdays and weekends.
Please note, for in-person meetings, all travel, accommodation, and meal expenses are covered by The Charity. Find out more in our Volunteer Expenses Policy. We suggest a time commitment of around 1–2 hours per week, but this is flexible. You’ll receive training, regular updates, and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role.

We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development.
West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and Cyprus. Being a trustee is a simple but highly impactful way to support your local squadron:

Typical commitment: 8-12 hours per year.
Who we’re looking for
Trustees come from all walks of life. No military, youth work, or charity experience is required. Trustees actively participate in meetings and decisions – there’s no obligation to take on an elected role.

This role is vital to the work of FareShare, ensuring that the food in our warehouse is correctly sorted, labelled and organised into orders placed by our charities and community groups.
