SUNSHINE is expanding into its next chapter, launching programmes, recruiting volunteers and building community spaces across London. To do this safely and responsibly, we need someone who can help us:

• Maintain strong safeguarding practice.

• Ensure legal compliance.

• Support volunteers with clarity and confidence.

• Embed good practice across the charity.

You’ll be the steady, reassuring presence who helps SUNSHINE stay safe, structured and aligned with UK good practice.

What You’ll Do

As Safeguarding & Compliance Lead, you will:

• Oversee safeguarding good practice across SUNSHINE.

• Support compliance with UK GDPR and data protection.

• Promote safe health & safety practice.

• Help embed Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) principles.

• Maintain and update policies and procedures.

• Provide guidance to volunteers and team leads.

• Respond to occasional urgent queries or concerns.

• Help ensure SUNSHINE operates ethically, safely and responsibly.

Time Commitment & Availability

This is a flexible operational volunteer role, not a trustee position.

• Around 4 hours per month

• Additional hours only for urgent enquiries or concerns

What You’ll Do

As Head of Programmes / Programme Lead, you will:

• Lead the set up, development and launch of SUNSHINE’s pilot programmes.

• Manage and support the Programmes Team.

• Coordinate programme activities, volunteers and delivery.

• Ensure programmes run smoothly, safely and with SUNSHINE’s signature warmth.

• Work closely with the Founder, Volunteering Team and Fundraising Team.

• Help shape future programme strands as SUNSHINE grows.

• Create welcoming, uplifting experiences for participants and volunteers.

• Must be available at least 2 evenings per month.

• Must be available at least one weekend daytime per quarter (for programme delivery, community sessions, inductions and team support).

We’ll work around your life, your schedule and your energy — but we do need a reliable, committed Programme Lead who can help us launch SUNSHINE’s programmes with confidence and joy.

4. Crowdfunding Volunteers

5. Fundraising Programme Assistants

Be the architect of our volunteer experience. You’ll design the volunteer journey, build team spirit, support volunteers, and help SUNSHINE become the go‑to place to volunteer in London.

2. Volunteer Recruiter / Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator

You’re the friendly face who brings new volunteers into the movement. You’ll source, recruit and welcome volunteers who share our positivity, energy and passion for human connection.

3. Learning & Development Coordinator

Help volunteers grow, thrive and feel confident. You’ll design and deliver training, create learning resources, and support volunteers to feel ready, capable and valued.

Ideal for someone who loves teaching, coaching or developing others.

4. Volunteer Programme Assistant

The organisational superstar. You’ll support admin, coordination, communication and behind‑the‑scenes tasks that keep our volunteer programme running smoothly.
